We went through Hurricane Ian and it sat off our coast for hours barely moving as a tick under a Cat 5 hurricane and there was even winds that did reach Cat 5 on Sanibel Island, we were pounded for hour after hour by Ian and we survived just fine as did all the homes around us. Those that suffered were the ones who built on Sanibel Island and Pine Island and those in Cape Coral who built on the water. We had a shingle roof that was 18 years old and we only lost some shingles on the roof, the underlayment remained so we had no leaks in the roof. The only other damage we had was some drywall from the rear porch ceiling blew out. The drywall was replaced and this time screws were used to attach it. As for the roof we went with a metal roof so we don't have to worry about shingles blowing off. All the metal roofs survived with only a handful having wind blown debris damage that dented the metal, there were no metal roof failures.
@@Timothy-wk4bs Ian was a high end Cat 4 hurricane, it was just below the Cat 5 wind speed. They did record some winds on Sanibel Island that were Cat 5 but not long enough to bump Ian to a Cat 5.
@@vajona3894 I did not say Ian was a Cat 5, I said they did measure some winds on Sanibel Island that were high enough to be Cat 5, Ian was barely under the Cat 5 category it was a high end Cat 4.
Trust me, it'll be a lot longer than a week. Try all summer and then some up to September. Climate change is upside-down because of us ruining the earth for thousands of years.
