As we take a drive through pigeon forge tennessee we check for any pigeon forge flooding and see how the pigeon forge crowds are. We then drive into Gatlinburg Tennessee to see how bad the Gatlinburg flooding is and see the Gatlinburg crowd levels after hurricane helene. Thankfully there was not too smoky mountain flooding and most of the major roads were able to remain open. We also check out the Dollywood crowds and hopefully give you peace of mind about your upcoming visit!

I love going to the mountains, but I stay away from the tourist traps of Pigeon Forge, Gatalinburg, and Cherokee.

The Virginia state police helicopter rescued around 50 people from the roof of the Unicoi county hospital in Tn. earlier.
They had 4 helicopters on that rescue mission glad they got everyone to safety

Man, the damage to I-40 near NC line looks awful. Same with Chimney Rock, NC. Devastating. Praying for all of those impacted.
Thankfully no one was seriously hurt on I-40 when that happened!

Johnson city and Unico is pretty bad as well
If you look at the radar. Anywhere near the Mississippi is going to be in big trouble. It's dumping all that rain in that general area.

It was a fast moving storm, otherwise things would have been much worse.
I live in South Central Indiana and just in my area we have 100k without power due to the backlash we've recieved from it.
I live in Kentucky our power was out for like 11 hours now its back on and trees were down and house damage Evan tho that was in Florida its winds hit all the way to Kentucky
raining hard off and on In middle Tennessee for the past 48 hours and still a steady rain as off 10:30 pm tonight. What a storm, my heart prays for Florida and all those affected.
What part of KY? I’m worried about my mountain cabin in SEKY.

The wind hit us in northeast Indiana. We had power outages here as well.

Im in Georgia and my heart goes out to all of our southern neighbors. It is absolutely incredible how that one storm dumped so much rain on multiple states. GA, FL, TN, NC, SC, and now VA. We are all going thru it. Prayers my friends

It has been a VERY long time since I have been there. It was 1975. That is pre-Dollywood. As I remember it, Pigeon Forge was just a mall town. The Wheels of the Century trailer club stayed at a KOA Campground outside of Pigeon Forge. I imagine that is long gone. At the campground, I met a very nice lady from the Detroit area, Anna Mary and we fell for each other. I was in the USAF stationed at Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY. That base is long gone now. My parents lived between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, MI. Long distance dating sure ain't easy. We tried our best but sadly it just didn't work out.
None of what you showed in the video was there way back then. Oh how that area has grown and grown.

As a Floridian who just had to deal with Helene, it's crazy to see how it's affecting Pigeon Forge. And that I'll be there in a couple of weeks for vacation.
As a former Floridian that moved up here 7 years ago, this is the 1st hurricane I thought could actually really be a major issue besides just some wind/rain. Thankfully it wasn't worse for areas covered in this video. Neighboring Newport, TN is unfortunately having some serious flooding issues right now.

@AdventureIsOutThere I live in Tampa and got hit hard. But Clearwater Beach was slammed, and last I checked, it still hasn't opened back up.

It flooded here where I live. It was bad for a while. We are between a lake and a creek and they just coukd not handle all the rain. But I give God the thanks for keep us all safe here.

Remnants of hurricane Ian put two trees on the roof of my house. So even when you think a storm is winding down...they can still be dangerous.
@@TweetyPAK7 I hated Ian more than Helene. My Son came and got me and took me back to Tennessee for a week until my power and water came back. He has been trying to get me to move there. I am sorry for the damage you incurred.
@@MaryMacElveen It was a shock considering I was in VA. It was so much worse than expected. I had stepped out on the front porch because it was getting really crazy loud outside and BOOOM!!! I didn't know what it was! Maybe you should move to TN...very pretty there. 😊

I got some crazy video of the Pigeon River in Newport today before they evacuated downtown Newport. Chillin in a hotel room right now since we can't get home. Hoping the water goes down tomorrow so we can get home and assess the damage. I'll say our first week as fulltime Tennessee residents has been eventful.

What about the flooding in lake Douglas?
I live in Columbus Georgia and the Chattahoochee river is very high
Still planning on coming down around the fourth of Oct. Not concerned at all with things being shut down while we're there, more concerned about the trip down and any little unexpected surprises during that part of the trip. They've done a great job over the years of being able to minimize the disruption to tourism that comes with these floods, something I'm willing to bet has been a frequent issue whenever there is any heavy rain in the area.
Here in Nashville, Minimal Flooding but FULL rivers (from what i've heard)

Ryan, thank you so much for this update. My heart goes out to everyone on the NC side that has suffered so much devastation. We are arriving on October 6 for the week…a family vacation! Our children, their spouses and our 5 grandchildren. Hopefully by then some things will be back to normal. I really enjoy your channel!

I saw a video earlier and it looked like Dollywood was massive flooded and a dam had malfunction or something..I'm in KY .I don't see how Dollywood can look like that when I saw that pigeon forge Dollywood earlier
@@theresawebb8064 I believe you may have seen video or pics from the Dollywood flash flooding back in July. The dam I think you are referring to is the Nolichucky dam which is 40 miles from Dollywood and not connected to any waterway in Pigeon Forge. If you mean the dam on the NC/TN line it would flood the towns along I-40 (Hartford and Newport which already had flash flooding) and would then end up in the French Broad River and Douglas Lake.
The main issue is we just had a hurricane take almost same path months ago so water was still high no damage would be done hardly if the last hurricane dropped way more water

Glad the rain stopped. Love the duck and reminds me I need to get my words of kindness written on sticky notes and tied around the ducks for any jeeps I see here in Tishomingo to duck. The flooding reminds me of the flooding at Pennington that one year that it rained a month here.
