Hi Brian. I visited South Tampa yesterday morning. The west shore of the peninsula had a surprising amount of effects. Watermarks showed me that the area south of the Gandy Bridge had received a storm surge as high as 8' in one spot, but mostly 6-7 feet, which surprised me quite a bit. There were a lot of power issues as of 11am. From reports and observations, i estimate that the west shore, right at the shore, received numerous gusts of 90mph. This is not what was reported officially; however in that same spot at 11am the next day (yesterday), there was still a sustained wind of close to 30 and there was about a minute of a 40+ mph sustained wind. This was when the storm was already officially centered in northern Georgia. Needless to say, the waves were still breaking fiercely on the rocks at that moment.
I live in Tampa- the NHC did an excellent job of predicting storm surge in our area ! Unfortunately, many humans chose to ignore mandatory evac orders 😩😩😩,
@@Ayyeliki That's good to hear. I only managed to see one surge report, from Ch. 28, which i think dated to about 8pm and was forecasting max surges. But it was saying only 4-6 for that area. I was seeing 6-8 for the gulf coast, but not for South Tampa. So that was the reason for my surprise. Along Gandy Park i didn't see any high water mark that was under 6.0 . Most of it was between 6½ and 7½, which i thought was being expected in Pasco and northern and central Pinellas. Also, at 7am yesterday, the entire area south of the Selmon at 19th St. was still blocked off and i could see from Adamo that the Bay still covered the Port peninsula, 500' to the south of me, at 7am. I lived in Tampa for over 35 years, 25 in South Tampa. That's the worst saltwater flooding i've ever seen there.
I live in this area. Fortunately the place we stay had minimal damage but the neighborhood around us of mostly one story homes have visible water marks at least 3 feet high.

Good morning to Brian and our weather watch community. Joining you from Kingston, Jamaica. Some heavy rain and winds yesterday afternoon reminiscent of Beryl in some parts of Kingston. Overcast this morning and light drizzle. Theres some thunder somewhere …took my dog for her usual morning walk but she was anxious to get back home as she could hear the thunder…she hears it long before I do …preparing for heavy rains later today but right now I’m enjoying the cooler air. Thinking of all those still struggling with the aftermath of Helene and hoping you will soon have back whatever relief you need to be comfortable again. Blessed safe Saturday to you all from Kingston Jamaica land we love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
You are our family’s go to forecaster. You predicted Helene 10 days out! Just wow. you’da weatherman my friend. Im glued to your channel during the Hurricane season.
I got hit hard by Helene. Lots of trees down, my barn will have to be rebuilt, a little damage to my house, my goat shelter collapsed. Still missing 2 goats, horses are fine, chickens are now free range because their roof is laying in my front yard. All people are okay, so I feel God blessed us because the tree that I was concerned about didn’t fall .
I can’t help but wonder? How many other weatherman watch you first!

Hi to the family!!
Poor goats
Wishing God’s blessings and good recovery to you! 🙏🏾
