This is why Steve Perry is called the voice.
Oh, and Steve Perry, who coincidentally turned 75 on January 22nd, still looks GREAT. Fit as a fiddle, the hair's still there even if grey ... and he remains a very fine singer too.
Steve Perry is known as one of the best voices, ever.
Next to yours he is #2
Steve Perry is not only known as 1 of the best voices ever my friend. Steve Perry is AKA "The Voice" literally in music. Steve was given the nickname "The Voice" a long time ago by Jon Bon Jovi. Just saying... +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😉🤘
"It's not so much fan girlin', it's just he's awesome". Love Donna. : )
If you REALLY wanna hear the heights of Steve’s voice, listen to him sing, “Mother, Father.” It’ll blow your mind!
Absolutely my favorite! Steve Perry IS all that AND a bag of chips.
One my favorite top ten songs and music videos of all time
Journey was one of those bands who had so many incredible hits in their locker, and with Perry's iconic voice, they were one of the greats of my generation. I always enjoyed Journey and always will.
I don’t think a woman can hear this without smiling (inside or out) at that first “I’m forever yours…Faithfully”
Steve Perry with no auto tune like today
You tell 'em Donna!!!!! I'm with you 100%. Doing some fan boying right along with you!
This is my favorite power ballad of all time. It has to be one of the best romantic rock songs ever. And yes, Steve Perry’s voice and singing is beyond incredible.
The “joy of rediscovering you” line has always been my favorite. I never thought about the concept before but it’s true. When you’re away from someone you love, you kinda have to relearn the motions, the little quirks, all the details of your lover that you didn’t even realized you missed. It is a feeling unlike anything else.
As others have mentioned, Steve Perry hits a note at the end of "Mother Father" (live in Houston -1981) that will blow your mind. The entire performance, by every member of the band, is epic.
I have seen Journey 6 times live! Steve Perry, and the band are incredible!
I saw Steve Perry without the band. He's the goat. GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
6 times before 1996? Because he hasn’t been with Journey since then.
That would be Freddy Mercury hands down.
You definitely gotta check out Mother Father live in Houston, 1981 and Why Can't This Night Go On Forever for more soaring Steve vocals. Definitely some of my absolute favs along with this one 💙💙💙💙💙
Next up Mother Father from Live in Houston 1981….it’s a MUST watch! From this Steve Perry-Journey Fan Girl since 1981! They were truly magical together. Journey On!
Steve Perry , AKA the Voice !!
Donna, it's ok to fan girl! No one's going to judge you for it. 😊 We're all fan girls or fan boys of the bands we love. We saw Journey a year ago and even though it's not Steve Perry singing they still put on an awesome show! They've been doing this for 50 years! Arnel Pineda does an excellent job singing.
You didn't see journey without Steve Perry...you saw a facsimile.
Excellent in concert. And a huge shoutout to whoever the road camera crew was for catching all those shots of life on the road. Some very real shots.
I was 16 when this song hit the air waves. Memories of going to Cedar Point with the guys are still fantastic.
Another song "Open Arms" they played at roller skating rinks & have a couple skate portion Romantic atmosphere
Journey's lead guitarist, Neal Schon, is the only remaining original member of the band. I believe they were formed in 1973 when Neal was 17.
Steve Perry parted ways w/ Journey in 1998 after a hip injury sidelined him from touring... he had not performed live w/ the band since 1986 and his last Journey album was 'Trial by fire' in 1996 which yielded the hit single 'When you love a woman' 🔥🔥
Over the next 2 decades, Steve Perry lived as a recluse and stayed away from music... but he was finally inspired to record a new solo album 'Traces' in 2018... and then, a Christmas album.
Journey is still touring today... Arnel Pineda (lead vocals) was hired in 2008 (He replaced singer Steve Augeri who sang for Journey from 1998 to 2006) to sing the classic Journey songs by Steve Perry in concert and has carried the band to new heights... Journey is on tour in 2024 for their new album 'Freedom'... When Journey was inducted into the Rock n roll Hall of Fame in 2017, Steve Perry attended and met Arnel Pineda for the first time.
Steve does have one of the best voices of all time. Please react to "Dont Stop Believing" Live.
Open Arms is another beautiful ballad by Journey.
From the moment i hear "Highway run..." I'm sold. One of my favorite male singers. What a tone!
Played at Lulu's homecoming, now that's staying power. Steve can still touch hearts fourty years on.
Yes, it was played @ every school dance in America AND it was played @ every lodge dance I attended with "The Order Of Rainbow For Girls" (daughters & Friends of Masons & Eastern Stars). We always had an installation dance when we got new officers, etc. This song, Open Arms, + slow songs of REO Speedwagon, Air Supply AND Chicago were THE most popular songs @ the dances.
Hello, JOURNEY "Don't stop believin" live in Houston 1981. Iconic song great live performance with insane vocals & Amazing guitare solo. Thanks 💐
I agree with you Donna. Steve Perry has one of the most powerful, magnetic and beautiful voices I've ever heard. I really can't think of any other artist that projects so much emotion that every time I've heard this song (like maybe 100 times) I get tears in my eyes.
Mrs. Donna you’re a hoot. 😂 I love when you say the word awesome. 👌🏻👌🏻 Steve Perry happens to be my favourite male singer of all time as well. ❤️Fangirling line starts here. ☝🏻😂😂😂 Love this channel. You lady’s are AWESOME. ❤
Thanks
They had soooo many songs that were pure gold! You have a long list of fun ahead listening to him and Journey.
Check out Journey Mother Father live in Houston the vocal acrobatics are incredible he is my favorite all time male vocalist ❤❤❤❤
If you want to do any live performances of Journey, I suggest their 1981 Escape tour in Houstin Tx.
A great song, written by keyboardist Jonathan Cain for his then wife and sung so well by Mr. Steve Perry! Jonathan also wrote THE most downloaded track in history; "Don't Stop Believin'" as well as several others from the Escape album. If you guys like to read, he published an autobiography, it tells about his time with Journey & the good and rough times with Steve. Great reaction!!
Jonathan has delusions of grandeur. Yes, he wrote Faithfully, but the rest of those songs were written by a songwriting team consisting of Steve Perry, Neal, and Jon as newbie member. His current wife has taught him the old adage that if you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.
This is pretty much my all time favorite song. Perfect in every way, start to finish.
Met Steve on a few occasions. He was always very nice and the story of how he stayed with his significant other while she was dying is a sad but wonderful story. She made him promise to go back to music.
Steve brought Journey from huge to super huge. Though it was almost just as short-lived as their previous fame , though much bigger.
So there are plenty of fun songs from the band of this era but please don’t miss the time prior when keyboardist Greg Rollie was the lead singer either! His vocals are diff but also cool!
My brother and his wife have been together for nearly 35 years, since high school. Their relationship survived going to college and then working for a few years hundreds of miles apart. At their wedding 25 years ago, their last dance was to this song.
Wow!! Can't believe y'all did journey awesome great song, iconic! Lot's of love to you ladies keep on rocking 🤟
this song takes me back to my high school gf and me in 1983 slow dancing..as I whispered the lyrics in her ear it evoked a tear. really awesome band
One of the greatest male singer of all time.
The voice, enough said. Best ever live or in studio.
Donna is correct! Steve is awesome! He is one of a kind. His vocals are tops.
Steve Perry is one of the greatest vocalists of all time. I was lucky enough to see Journey numerous times through the years and Steve sounded just as amazing live as he did on the albums.
this is has my all time favorite lyrics being apart aint easy on this love affair two strangers learn to fall in love again I GET THE JOY OF REDISCOVERING YOU
I was born in 1970 and grew up listening to Journey. Steve Perry IS THE GOAT. Thats why John BonJovi called him the VOICE
The baby is Steve Smith’s (drummer) baby boy
May I suggest another one by Journey called “Mother Father” live in Houston? You will be blown away. Quite possibly the greatest live vocal performance in rock history. Thanks, Ladies.
This was wrote by keyboardist Jonathan Caine who joined Journey after his previous band The Babies split.
I saw Journey in 1980 at the Richfield Coliseum outside of Cleveland, Ohio and Steve Perry was perfection you would have thought you were listening to the radio.
He left the band and had a solo career too. One of the greatest voices of all time!❤
I saw Journey many times live. A great band. Yes, this song is a prom slow-dancing song. It was played at my Military Ball dances.
Same.... this was played at my high school ROTC military ball way back in the 80s. Good times, good music.
THERE ARE STILL US GUYS OUT THERE THAT CRY OVER THIS SONG!!!!
Yes Donna, we grew up in the best era. The greatest music sung by the greatest singers. Fan girl all you want. There will never be another Gen-X. We had the best of time.
Steve Perry (aka “The Voice”), is not only amazing but a living legend! Even the greats during the “We are the World” video said what a voice he has!❤️
Keep educating these youngsters on our generation of music grandma... great reaction 2 thumbs up!!
Steve Perry was in the audience on America's Got Talent and told the girl she had an incredible voice.
It was American Idol
@@trb2021He was sitting in the audience with her parents. She freaked out.
One of my favorites. Open Arms is my favorite Journey ballad. Steve Perry is actually known as TheVoice
My aunt was so in love with Steve Perry! She got me listening to them as a kid and I remember they even had a Journey video game.
I'm with you, Donna. Total fan girl! Steve Perry was the absolute GOAT and was HOT.
Fun fact: Prince very intentionally plagiarized this song for his own massive hit "Purple rain" the following year. However, before release he got a little cold feet, and made contact with Journey asking if they minded him doing so. As it were, Journey, being huge Prince fans, were absolutely delighted to hear about it 🙂
Fun Fact: This song has nothing to do with Prince writing Purple Rain. Direct quote from Prince’s wiki page >> "Purple Rain" was originally written as a country song and intended to be a collaboration with Stevie Nicks.[11] According to Nicks, she received a 10-minute instrumental version of the song from Prince with a request to write the lyrics, but felt overwhelmed. She said: "I listened to it and I just got scared. I called him back and said, 'I can't do it. I wish I could. It's too much for me.'"[12] At a rehearsal, Prince then asked his backing band to try the song: "I want to try something before we go home. It's mellow." According to Lisa Coleman, Prince then changed the song after Wendy Melvoin started playing guitar chords to accompany the song: "He was excited to hear it voiced differently. It took it out of that country feeling. Then we all started playing it a bit harder and taking it more seriously. We played it for six hours straight and by the end of that day we had it mostly written and arranged."[11]
Watch the '83 Houston concert. Mother,Father live will show just how amazing Steve Perry is!
He is the best, ever! Remember, no auto tune back then
Check out the '83 Houston concert, Don't Stop Believing. Fantastic.
Got to work shows with these guys a few times back in the day.
Played 'em in a softball game day before a show once . We were standing around drinking beer when they showed up in a couple tour buses. Piled out in uniforms. Knew immediately we were toast. Perry did the play by play with a local FM DJ from a remote truck.
Another time I ran into Robert Fleischman at a back yard BBQ and we got to chatting. He mentioned he needed a ride to airport and I told him I'd take him. Song he liked came on the radio, reached over and maxed out my speakers to the blow 'em point, which I dialed back immediately. He was, like, sorry about that.
Those were the days. Almost too much fun.... ;O)
81, not 83.
@@Faltor895 My bad. Yes '81. Thanks ;O)

Steve Perry is "THE VOICE"
The Voice
Donna, 2 days ago a rating of singers came out, #1 Steve Perry #2 Lou Gramm. I think it was top 50 🤔 Every red blooded woman is head over heals ❤ with Steve Perry.
Reacting to Journey with Steve Perry just got you a new subscriber. Also you ladies are so much fun to watch! If you want to hear some amazing vocal gymnastics by SP I suggest "Mother, Father" live from Houston 1981 and "Still They Ride" live from Tokyo 1983.
The Mt. Rushmore of rock vocalists is Freddy Mercury (Queen), Brad Delp (Boston), and Steve Perry (Journey) 😊
I went to high school with Steve Perry. He was a senior and I was a freshman. He didn't know I was alive! He's from central California. Iconic voice, maybe the best ever!
Awesome
Steve best vocal performance was singing "Mother Father" live in Houston 1981. Probably a song none of you ever heard. Be sure to wait for the piano solo at the end.
There was even a Journey video game for Atari back in the 80's called "Escape" named after the album. It was horrible, but still!! Lol!
I had Pitfall, Space Invaders and Escape.
Best band of ballads ever. I still want want Kathy t-shirt. How do I get that? Steve Perry was and will ALWAYS be the best singer ever. No argument necessary. This song proves it. Another great is When You Live A Woman. This is the stuff. My wife and I danced to this at our wedding. I was a musician on the road. We are are still together!!! 🤟🍻
AMEM...Steve was something very special...hands down! 😃👍👍👍
Saw Journey live 4 times! Twice with Steve Perry. Yes he really sings and sounds like that! My suggestions would be earlier Journey. Songs like.. Daydream, Precious time, Walks like a lady, Lovin touchin squeezin and Where were you.❤
Send her my love by journey is my favorite.. and this one!
Good point, I also like the old style cab-over Peterbilt trucks!
That was Steven Smith in drums, just got out of Berkeley. He was and still is on fire.
First saw "Journey" in 78'😅
I’ve been crushing on Steve Perry since I was 7 or 8 years old. I’m now 53. And I still love Steve Perry. IMO, he’s one of the greatest male vocalists of all time.
i think i was 19 years old when this song (album) came out.
i want this song played at ,y future wedding its so beautiful
Fangirl all you wish, it's warranted! Steve is amazing!
My friends and I are in this vid. I got buried under bodies once the cameraman filmed us. Section WH at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Bryan Adams opened, followed by The Tubes, Sammy Hagar, John Mellencamp and finally Journey. A 10 hour concert which were fairly common in the 80s. I wasn't a Journey fan, but wanted to be there for the spectacle, and I'm glad I did. It's been 40 years and I still remember it. Good times.
Awesome
Im 48 and have been a Steve Perry fan since I was 11 in '86. But I never saw Journey live as he had already left the band, his solo tour was cut short in 94, then their 97 tour he left the band again. LOL
Mother Father live in Houston is Amazing
Sorry Kids. Mom's right. Steve's voice was awesome. A thing of beauty ❤Elvis's voice was stunning 😮❤😊
Great song to react to my friends, I’m going to be seeing a great tribute band to Journey in March, in fact the former lead singer sounded so much like Steve Perry, that now he sings for the real band Journey, beautiful song
Like y'all were saying, this song has been used for school dances. The video helps to bring out even more of the meaning and feelings of the song. One of my best friends looked just like Steve Perry, especially when he shaved his mustache off. He would get stopped all the time by people thinking it was him.
If you want to rock out separate ways or if you something slower do me and my wife's song open arms
Put Donna's "I like it" in an intro on your videos and watch your subscribers jump. Cracks me up when she says it!
Yes, my mom is a mess. Lol
I read that you can sometimes see Steve at the ice cream shop in the town there he lives and he is super nice and will talk to you.
So cool!
This is easily one of the greatest bands of all time
Oh boy, reminds me of sitting in the stands at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, summer of 1983. With Bryan Adams opening for them. In no particular order Steve Perry, Ann Wilson and Freddie Mercury 3 of the greatest vocalists in rock that I've had the pleasure of seeing live!
💜💜💜💜💜 Love Journey with Steve Perry! Any song is good and quite a few are great!
Steve Perry is awesome. But yet, you were fan-girling there. Haha. Great reaction. Brings back those high school dance memories. I was in high school in the 80s
I saw Journey's "Raised on Radio" tour. That show is in my Top 5 for sure. Steve Perry can sing like nothin' you ever heard. Neil Schon is one of the best guitarists I've in person. Anytime you wanna lift your mood, crank up and I mean crank it up some Journey - you'll be all better. BTW - Raised on Radio is a GREAT album -
Steve Perry , and Michael McDonald have probably the 2 most iconic voices of the last 40 years . Whether singing lead , or as back-up to some other artist ....you could pick their voices out ....easily .
Love Journey. Never be another Steve Perry.
Steve makes my heart skip a beat
