In all 7/11 that I’ve been in Japan, they had microwave and toaster oven to reheat hotdog buns, etc. Makes a big difference to eating it cold from a shelf
Natto gets such a bad rap! This westerner has always enjoyed it mixed with the tare and mustard, and bowl of rice on the side instead of mixing it in with the rice. The strings can get annoying, but once you have the technique of bite of natto, chopstick twirl, bite of rice down I find it very pleasant.
Yeah I think he was really rude when it came to the natto. His comments were definitely uncalled for. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. Just move on. No need to compare it garbage and make snot jokes.
@@fedorapug8501ikr. Unless he's eating them all right at the store he can't do that here. Unless there's a microwave in the studio, if you heat it up there by the time it gets handed to him its hard and cold.
It's not the mayo that makes the egg sandwich, it's the technique of separating the yolks then *mixing the mayo into them until a smooth sauce is formed* then adding the chunky egg whites. You're welcome everyone.
Isn’t that how everyone makes egg salad? The egg salad I had in Japan was lighter and had a taste I’ve never been able to duplicate. I lived in Japan in the 80s I never had 7-11 egg salad but I had it at peoples homes and schools.
@@eptiffany most in the states at least soft to hard boil eggs then mash that with mayo and other condiments/seasonings, never heard of separating the yolk and white. the mayo is also very different however so both would change the end product.

I’ve been getting really into your ranked videos and I’ve also been really into those “making a meal at Korean convenience store” videos so this is PERFECT
7/11 in Hawaii is a totally different beast that you you should experience. They get a bunch of local food like musubi that you could share on this channel.
The last thing I expected was to see Connor the CdawgVA in a Babish video. I guess if you live long enough, you see things. As an avid viewer of CDawg and Babish, I am thrilled!
I'm currently learning Japanese and this is making me want to go to Japan even more. I love how different this is from your other ranked videos. Very entertaining!
JpanNeat is trying every restaurant, cafe & convenience store in Japan, even taking the train to another prefecture just to try a recommendation from locals. You might consider a segment to do a similar approach
I did not expect Baumkuchen in Japan for some reason. Baumkuchen (literally tree cake) is a thing that you can get at basically every food store in Germany, from Aldi to everything else, during the Christmas food period. It's usually covered in chocolate. There are also versions with liquors. Aldi often sells one infused with Grand Marnier, a version with Whiskey (I think) and one with Bailey's. Almost always worth it.
Ngl, my very first night in Japan was saved by the 7-11 having strawberry sandwiches. There is nothing that can replace the feeling of being lost and hungry at 10pm and having something so nice
Calorie mate does actually indicate the flavor on the top just not in English. But the word is in katakana so it sounds analogous to the loan word if you're capable of piecing the word together. If i remember, there is chocolate, fruit, cheese, etc.
one of my co-workers during my time in Japan bought me some Calorie Mate packs when I was super sick as well, and while I'm sure being sick didn't do any favors for how it tasted, I sometimes get incredible nostalgic for them. 7/11 was my daily stop on the way home from work, and I'd grab a coffee, some packaged cold noodles, and a nice dessert and that was my dinner every day for a year. Nothing back here in the states compares, and I hope to be able to experience that again one day. EDIT: 39:43 I'm genuinely tearing up because I would buy those to dunk in my coffee and I can share in the delight that you feel eating them. They're a life-changing food and I won't rest until I have them again.
for the sushi roll there’s usually a pull tab that allows the seaweed to wrap around the rice without you having to disassemble and then reassemble the whole thing! 9:04
When new people come to Japan with no knowledge of the cuisine, but like American sushi; I like to take them to a sushi-go-round and tell them the natto is a crunchy peanut butter. I'm not of fan it, but a lot of people love it.😂

The fried chicken was so pedestrian! I can't believe you haven't tried the chicken skin skewers... The second time (out of 4 so far, 5th coming up jan/feb 25) I had a skewer each for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because I was so hooked. Famimart has the best.
Japanese convenience stores hit a bit different than the US sort~! I think the closest thing we have to JP 7-Eleven, Family Mart, and Lawson's is Buc-ee's. Also, Babish discovered that stirring natto turns it into snotto... bleaugh.
I had the egg sandwich and 7/11 pancakes almost every single day when I was in Japan. This really made me relive my time there. Now I miss it even more.
Lawson's has a grilled salmon onigiri that's life-changing, and I hope you got an opportunity to try it. Conbini's are what the world deserves and I desperately miss them.

Cool dude! Still tastes like snot from the nose of someone dying of a fever.
I have to point out that many of these would be eaten hot - expertly microwaved by the teen or octogenarian behind the register.
Love to see the term octogenarian used in the wild
I’m so glad someone said it
I didn't anticipate Connor appearing.
Seeing Connor in this video makes me very happy; it's definitely an unexpected crossover.
I lived in Japan for 3 years and 711 was my daily stop on the way to work.
Egg Sandwich is by far the best thing they have.
I went to Tokyo for 10 days and ate at some fantastic Sushi and Teppanyaki but still dream about those egg sandwiches!
20:45 half expected Chris Broad to burst through the wall like the KoolAid man when it got to the fried chicken
The Calorie Mates actually do list the flavor. It's just in Japanese. You can see at 29:31 that on the side it says メープル, which means maple.
チーズ is the best flavor
And like Snake says... they're "TASTY!!"

Why did he not heat up any of the items that are meant to be eaten warm...
well.... none of them can actually read instructions probably? or they forgot? or they did it on purpose?
Excuse to have another trip to Japan for the follow up "Botched" episode.
