Hi Robbie, Fitted my SW Motech Street-Rack and luggage rack extension today. Like you said it fits a purpose, and i don't think it looks to bad. Now we've got a bloody fast tourer.
add trekker outback 58l, hand guards, side bags, and Puig windscreen(make a huge huge difference on the wind, quite pretty too might add, 2 min to remove if want it just for touring) .
The video I've been waiting for. I have the Street Rack on order (4 weeks now). I wont put a top box on though but will use the rack for the SW Motech tail bag or the Kreiga Dry Packs. Thanks Robbie
My pleasure mate. I may look at the SW Motech range but as I already had the Givi box I really didn’t wanna go buy something I already have if you know what I mean. It all comes down to practicality as it sure isn’t looks with that thing on the back. 😄 Where have you ordered it from ? 4 weeks is a long time to wait.
@@Robbiemoto Ordered from Motorcycle Road and race, they were awaiting them in from Germany. Usually very good. I also ordered the pro tail pack and rack for that. www.sw-motech-shop.co.uk/pro-rackpack-tail-bag This has its own rack and looks great for touring
@@billybean7488 I’ll bare them in mind next time. I ordered mine from FC moto in Germany. Took about a week to come £138 for both items but then I got stung for £45 import duty. I was all for Brexit until now 😄😄
@@Robbiemoto Just called the shop and its arrived in the UK so i should get next week. I too was stung through import charges on a pair of Rukka pants from FC Moto. Nothing to do with FC Moto they have been brilliant over the years but Brexit has put paid to bargains from them. btw the street rack has cost me £116 .... worth the wait I guess.
Good video. The looks are a bit funky BUT it allows you to go sport touring on your Super naked bike. It's a good option. 👍. The install looks straight forward as well. I have some of SW-MOTECH stuff and it's well made/engineered. Safe travels.
Hi Robbie, just seen this video and noticed it’s 3 years old. How did the rack & top box work out for you long term? Rack strong enough? Any high speed stability issues? I see SW-Motech U.K are now selling kits, including same rack, plus mounting plate and their own top box, so was considering for my Speed Triple.. would you recommend?
@@benthomas8250 in all honesty i rode with it once but never toured with it. I had plans for several trips that just didn’t happen unfortunately. I left the rack fitted for quite while and occasionally bungeed things to it but ended up removing it and now sits on the shelf. The short ride I did with the top box it felt ok.
Thanks for your reply.. I travel a bit on my Speed Triple with Kreiga bags strapped to the pillion seat but I get so fed up with packing everything up each day! Thanks again 👍
I’ve toured France and Belgium with the very same box on my old 2011 Z1000 and it was great. Obviously they’re not the most prettiest things on a bike especially naked bikes but it did its job and did it well. No messing around strapping down soft luggage etc. plenty of room in that Maxia. I think it’s 55L.
I have this system on my 2018 bike, can't live without it! I put on it the 58l box, and original ktm side bags, hand guards and puig windscreen. I tell you man, I tried the adventure and I did not feeel much difference, in fact I pick mine any day! I carry so much stuff and touring never been better. I wonder If original side bags would fit, I know you need to drill holes larger to fit on 2018, wonder if it can be pulled off on the new model cause I am thinking to upgrade to the new 2022 EVO.
@@LucianoMeneghetti-xe4wx you can’t ! I tried, but the angle of the system does not allow you in any way. On 2nd gen is posible, but on 3rd no chance . So, just get the whole sw-motech system. It’s a bit of a hasle to mount it all and dismount it (15min) but again - good system!
Thanks. Much appreciated. I believe I got it from a German company called FCMoto. I don’t think it was ordered as one unit. I think I ordered the street rack and then the Givi attachment rack. Both from them. Sorry I can’t be more specific as I bought these quite a while ago.
Great video! I am definitely not going touring on my beast, but this setup seemed like a good option. I’ve never really seen such a big givi bag on a small naked bike before, looks a bit odd, but as long as it’s sturdy and practical I guess it’s a great choice!
Oh Yeah totally. I agree it does look odd. When I had my Z1000 I used it on there and it looked wrong. The Givi box is one of the big ones. A Maxia. But when I toured France and Belgium on it I wasn’t looking at the back and how unsightly it was. I was just bothered that I got all my kit in it without side bags and a ruck sack. 😄.
@@Robbiemoto that should be the primary concern! So are you going to be riding with the rack on permanently or will you just put it on when you plan on touring? I did that on my givi rack I had on my old VFR800 a few years back. I only used it once!
I’m not sure yet. I didn’t leave the rack on my Z as it was so big the side arms were huge but this isn’t too bad. I’ll have to see if it grows on me. Otherwise yes I’ll fit it as and when. I’ll just be a little concerned with constantly taking the bolts in and out and the wear it may have.
@@Robbiemoto yeah you don't want to wear your threads out. But are you planning on doing a lot of touring? What's the longest you've ridden on this current bike?
I do plan on doing a lot more on this bike. So far I’ve done around 300 miles on it in a day. Surprisingly quite comfortable. Not like my old bike. 80 miles and my arse was saying time for a break. Lol.
Hi and thank you. Yes I did. I can’t remember what they were though. It did catch me out as I forgot about having to add them until I had a call from the courier.
I don't get it. I've got a 2020 SDGT and have just got a Street Rack from SW Motech. On mine, the drawings clearly show the support arms going inside the frame so you can still mount the panniers.
@@markellison4875 Just around the corner from the bike parking. Head down the road with the bike park on your right and turn right at the lights. The pub is on your right. If it’s busy I’ll probably park by the river. Better photos for the bikes 😄
I can tell you I been carrying with trekker outback 58 about 35kg , and sidebags(each...5-6kg) and my gf on top of it (she's like 50kg) and had zero issues, don't be scared to load it!

Hello, what is the maximum load can you carry with this rack, including top case? Thanks in advance.

No worries mate. Actually I looked at KTM’s version of the rear rack on the GT and wondered if that would fit the SDR but found out it wouldn’t.

It’s for what ever I want to put on it. My bike my choice. Don’t like it don’t look.
