    Thank you so much for taking a look and the positive impressions, Tim!
    We are looking at additional Feats (the once per game abilities) for each faction as a potential stretch goal, and folks might be able to use that to fold some hidden information into the game (could be a variant, where you choose a feat and your opponents don't know which you've chosen). BUT, part of the charm of the game from our perspective (and anyone is welcome to disagree, many in these very comments already have) is how absolutely fast it clips along. We're fine if folks think that makes it too light - but this game really, truly plays in less than an hour at all player counts once folks know what they're doing. Part of making sure it clips along at this pace is the open information element which reduces AP and hesitancy in decisive drafting and movement.
    We have *so* many expensive and crazy deep games in our catalogue that are 4 hour epics (or slogs, depending on opinions...😂) at all player counts...but especially four players. There are also a lot of lengthy and super crunchy area control games on the market with a ton of asymmetry that make them challenging to teach and table. What we feel really makes Wroth unique and special is how absolutely streamlined it is and how lovely it is to look at and interact with during play. It's deceptively crunchy and yet remains very fast paced. It's great asymmetrical area control distilled down to (in our opinion) its most intriguing, fun and essential elements.
    So yeah - we're trying to do something very specific here with teach time, game length, strategy depth and price point as it relates to our catalogue and this genre. Hopefully folks find it intriguing 🙂

      The more I read and learn about this game the more I believe these additional feats are 100% needed. You shouldn't need a $500k stretch goal to make and include these.

      A game that plays under an hour gets to MY table about 50x more often than a game that takes more, so I'm happy to hear that.
      Also... I'm one of those gamers who struggled to learn all the different factions of Root, so I'm wondering how this game feels to play on that first game -- especially with powerful feats that might turn the tides of a match that new players might not know how to account for. Still, the catch-up mechanic sounds AWESOME for that, though I could see that benefiting the factions with feats that are better played late game! Still, seeing a LOT to love here. I'm a dice-lover, so that aspect of the game is so far my favourite part.

    Art wise I’m all over this. Gameplay wise it looks lacking and completely takes the wind out of my sails. I love are control and it just seems like things are too watered down. Like you say, there is nothing surprising.

      yeah it's a bit light for sure! I think they're aiming for a more accessible title, but im definitely missing that element of surprise!

    Troops gotta be acrylic standees so we can see those beautiful psychedelic neon trippy colors. I hope they have more hidden information and Tim mentioned. A lot of war games are about the psychological warfare. It’s like that scene from Princess Bride where one of the opponents is trying to deduce if the poison is in front of him or his adversary. It’s the angst of the secret information. It’s getting people to double-triple-quadruple think their actions - I mean without causing too much analysis paralysis.

      Considering the size of the board, acrylic standees aren't going to fit. They need to be fairly small.
      Either meeples or a screen printed component that lays flat (which could be acrylic) would work.
      Alternatively, a component that stacks would also work and remove visual clutter.

    Don’t know why they don’t use full size chips for troops. Probably to do a more afordable game, maybe an add-on could be cool.
    I begin to love the art, very nice popping colors. I love what Anthony do with TMB, CS, HP and all CTG games. Kind of adjustment to do with more abstract heros, a pretty big challenge for Manny and CTG.

      Didn't do chips here because of cost, as you mentioned, but also size (which is tied to a lot of hidden costs). The prototype box we sent out to folks is actually about 33% larger than what the final box will be. To do chips would require a much larger mat to accommodate them (which costs a lot more both in neoprene and the literal chips themselves), but also adds a lot of volume which is a big hidden cost in both ocean freight and shipping. Our signature chips are also very heavy, and with 26 per faction we'd be looking at a similar issue with freight/shipping weight, and would need a much larger box to accommodate 175+ chips (factoring in expansion factions).

      @@ChipTheoryGames Just want to add that I personally HIGHLY value a smaller, lighter, cheaper box without giving up quality components. It sounds to me like you're doing a lot to find a balance you're comfortable with as a company known for making high quality games, and I applaud that. Especially when the shipping costs can often single-handedly make crowdfunded games unaffordable for people like me.

    Hi Tim in their 2 most recent livestreams Chip Theory states they will be changing the troop stands to be a matte finish. One of the addons is also metal troops for a more premium feel and look. They haven’t stated exactly what the metal troops will look like though.

      i love it at 2p! I can't speak on solo since i didn't play it at 1, but it was super interactive at 2!

    Ooglan and Guild look the most appealing to me 😅 hopefully they look into adding more unique card abilities that could be kept secret but not as powerful as the one time abilities.

    The game looks really lit. I'm with you on the transparency here. I think the area control gains from being not 100% on board. And that each faction plays slightly different is not helping the case, because by the time we're on game 4/5 everyone would know what to expect from other players. And we will likely get there pretty quickly since it looks tad faster than other area control games we play. So yeah, I'd rather all the gameplay decision/tactic was made by the player himself, not decided before the battle starts. Worrying about the replayability. Damn the art style is what brought me over, then heard it's area control and I am in love. But damn... gotta read the rules and watch some gameplays before making the final decision. Again, it looks amazing, but do I need that premium feel and look from an entry lvl game that will get played only once in a while I show it to my friends or try to bring someone new to the table? Shit... I am torned... Last but not least if every faction has exactly 1 special ability, why do we need cards for it, why not print them on the player faction mat and cover with sort of a chip when used...

      Flippable card allows us to add additional feats in the future (it's even a stretch goal) as well as get some additional beautiful art from Manny onto the table. Every faction has their banner on the flip side of their feat card which shows that it's been used, and we are hoping to unlock some more unique art for each feat as well :-)

    I would like to see more factions and a potential addon for 5-6 players... with how simplified thwy have made gameplay i dont see it being an issue to have a higher player count.
    Totally agree about the troop minis, the art is great as well. I do agree with some others that the mechanics are very light and could see a little more added to it.

      On the ctg livestream they said they didn't plan a 5-6 players as they see balance issue due to the map design....

    Thanks for the video. It helped me realize I do not want this game. Pure area control is super meh for my groups. I'm sure its a great game but not for me! Sad because its gorgeous

    Hard to design good area majority games, there aren't a lot of designers that can nail it. Don't think Manny and his kids are it. Watched a playthrough and the gameplay seems quite bad imo. Hard pass for me

    Am i noob or this game looks very similar to a "Budget Cthulhu Wars"ok we don't know the price of wroth, but easily won't be 200 USD

      It's like someone looked at Cthulhu Wars and wanted to trim it down and remove the randomness in combat:
      - Reduce the number of areas
      - Reduce the number of crazy asymmetric powers
      - Reduce the variety of units
      - Remove the dice combat
      - Change action points to an action drafting

      @@Arkardu most major English dictionaries (Collins, Cambridge) have "dice" as the singular, that's why I was asking. Apparently , "die" is just more common in the US (in old English too). I just find it weird to hear.
