I believe the Beehive hairdo is a tribute to Pricilla Presley, not Amy Winehouse. The black leather jumpsuit & the same make, model & color guitar as Elvis used in his '68 comeback tour, is a tribute to the "King."

Everything visual in this video is a tribute to Elivis, - the hair is Priscilla, the black leather is Elvis' 1968 comeback outfit, guitar is one Elvis used, red jumpsuit matches the outfits his band wore. I'm pretty certain there are items I'm missing. Another marvelous production by Angelina's grandmother, Mery.

Over time I have come to believe that Angelina uses breath sometimes to personalize the experience, to make it seem that she is singing/speaking/conversing with someone (to us really) in an intimate and personal way sitting just a few feet away. This works for her with genuineness regardless of the audience size or location. Pretty special! Thanks Tara!

I think that for Angelina music is a natural fact, which allows her to range from one genre to another with ease, and to be able to concentrate on the text. Her goal is to create emotion in the audience that she listens to. It is probable that we are facing the greatest storyteller of the modern era, who will use the legendary music of the 60s that she reinterpreted to tell her stories.

@@jackpearson1110sn’t it fairly obvious that if AJ is covering an Elvis song that her outfit, hairdo etc would be from that time period? Why would AJ and team mix two different artists and time frames within one music video? That would be intellectually silly and I’m certain that Mery etc are anything but that..lazy thinking by the reactor I’m afraid.

Thank you for returning to Angelina. It's been a long time. 😪Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching.
The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

Depth and power are her wheelhouse. Which is why if she’s going to sing a whitney song she should always lower the key a lot to suit her voice. I love her interesting sound. She reminds me a lot of Lisa Marie in that sense.

The Norwegian barefoot princess now living in LA is the best young female vocalist we have today - Now 17 years old. Angelina sings better than already established world stars. No one can stop Angelina from becoming a world star. That's just how it is! Her first album will be released in 2023 with Republic Records.
Over the years, she will become a legend for the great moments in the world. She has plenty of time. Remember she is just 17 tears old, which we forget when we see her perform. Republic Records who should also be praised for appreciating this unique talent.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Nice reaction Tara! Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. According to Angelina and Republic Records, her brand new single should be coming out within the next few days (it was mentioned that it would come out at toward the end of the month). She is going to appear and perform on Heidi Klum's Germany's Next Top Model soon. Her brand new album has been speculated to be coming out late summer/early fall. So, some big things coming around very soon for her!

Absolutely phenomenal arrangement and performance from Angelina, the first two little girls in the video are Angelina’s cousins her managers children, the eldest girl is Angelina’s sister Juliette, production input from Angelina’s Grandma who is also a talented artist and poet, the pianist is Two times Grammy Award winner Rob Christie the musical director of Republic Records whom Angelina signed with at the age of 14 years old, Angelina is paying tribute to Elvis with her black outfit and Pricilla Presley hair style, Cover of a Cover as the original artist Mark James who wrote and recorded Suspicious Minds didn’t achieve with his original version, then Elvis covered the song and it was a hit, great reaction thanks 🙏

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day.
Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own.
When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 83 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched.
Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song.
The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers.
The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister.

    My thoughts on this performance.
Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes.
I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOUTube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani.
She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻

Tara. I love your new look. Thrilled to have you analyzing the remarkable Angelina Jordan again. Angelina is a artist of the highest caliber re-imagining classic songs like this one. For her, it is all about her interpretation of the story and providing the emotions she feels the story evokes.
Angelina's family has done a great job managing her career, allowing her to enjoy her childhood and finishing her school work. Angelina has said she always learned more from traveling than from school and she has been around the world, singing and learning.
Angelina and her family moved to Los Angeles 3 years ago and signed her with Republic Records who agreed to allow her a childhood before promoting her.
The time has come to introduce Angelina to the world. We angels need to educate those new to her. Angelina has always cared for the children of the world and performs barefoot to remind her of the less fortunate. Angelina has often performed at events which raised money for charity.

You might want to react to her 2 versions of "My funny Valentine", one on 2-14-16 when she was 10 the full version and the other when she was 16 the jazz standard on 2-14-22 but her arrangement. There different but both awesome. (PS, Tara, will you please react to Laura Bretan's cover of "Adagio". Tiny Little Girl
Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice was 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve. I have a number of pictures of celebrities whose height is known, for example, Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is 6ft tall, and AJ published a picture of her standing next to him, she was at least 1 inch taller than him, and she had to look down at him.

Tara, I wandered from an interview, number 4, with my favorite group by you first seen today and ended up being moved to AJ and that revealed you being one of the reactionary music critics (or praisers for many of the unknown artists blessing us with their work on UA-cam). I have seen a handful of the UA-cam critics and you rank a solid at "the front of the pack with some others" but as I did not hear you mention it AJ is known for this (long before she had a Wikibio which is the lead to it now):
"Angelina Jordan (born Angelina Jordan Astar; 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian singer whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday,"
My question to Angelina or to whomever, how did she end up speaking or at least vocalizing English better than most of us supposed English-speakers?

Now that you finally come back to Angelina, can you also finally come back to Faouzia? You said she was one of your favorites and never came back to her. It’s like two years now.

Pavlov's Dogs or Angelina's Angels? Angelina is a beautiful young woman with an ability to reach into the innermost depths of your mind on a level with what is known as a "shaman". AJ makes one feel her words and sounds. In the past we may have felt a similar sensation with maybe one song from an artist, but AJ encompasses the ability to conjure up this sensation with every performance. There is a synergy between her looks, sounds, and gestures, and her abilities to activate your senses, therefore; just seeing a picture of her is enough to bring tears to one’s eyes, we are indeed, Angelina's Angels.

She has exhibited this 'vocal chameleon' ability to emulate, for either short
or long portions of a song, where the listener is hearing what reminds them
of original classics by A-List artists, including a male superstar like Elvis. It
began at the age of 7 when she sang Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' and
had me going back to Billie's recording and wound up scratching my head as
to, how is this possible? Then it happened again with regard to Dinah Washington's
hit song 'What A Difference A Day Makes'.......But this ability to emulate other
singer's vocals has never really ceased. In one of her most recent cover's, that
being 'Easy On Me', the listener will believe Adele's vocals are sprinkled throughout
sections of Angelina's rendition. The chameleon lizard can change it's body colors
to match its current surroundings instantaneously, and Angelina does the same thing
vocally. It is a remarkably unique talent that I have never heard another singer do to
the numerous amount of times this girl has shown us she can do, and I'm talking about
    many numerous genres of music.

I would think that the hair would give out 1960´s vibes since i think the hair model is from that era.Think its a homage to Priscilla Presley who had the same kind of a hair style back in the day.

It's not a Amy Winehouse look alike hair style. It's a hair style from the 60th. Pricilla's hair had the same style. (Elvis wife) I'm born in the 60th and remember that the hair style was so popular. Even my mom had a hair style like that. And I have lived in Norway my whole life. Every woman had that kind of hairstyle at that time. 👍 Love from Norway 🇳🇴

It's so amazing Tara, watching you. Here's a question for you about breathing control. Some vocal singers, you can hear them taking in oxygen virtually every measure. Then you get incredible singers with the fantastic breathing control like Celine Dion and you can virtually here nothing throughout the whole song only pure vocals, which amazes me. Celine has amazing control, she gives me goose bumps, she is the best when it comes to that. So, how do feel about great singers that have that awesome technique like Celine Dion and those that don't?

    • @Tarasimonstudios
      @Tarasimonstudios  Рік тому

Celine is amazing but of course not everyone can sound like her. I appreciate all singing techniques just like in this video. It’s truly about finding your own unique style which is the foundation of our coaching methodology at my studio

@@Tarasimonstudios Celine is just an example of excellence, I was more referring to her breathing control than her sound, and for me, that's just as important.
