Actually, her poise and confidence she exhibits on stage is so apparent because, and this is her quote, "I am happiest in my life when I am in front or people singing for them." You can find it on her amazing Jazz album 🪄 it's Magic 🪄 with the military Big band of Norway, they released at the age of 12. That year Quincy Jones noticed her talent and invited her to open his big birthday party at the London O2 Arena with his own arrangement for FS and count Basie. In that practice session she shows off her skills at timing, especially the laid back (hanging just after the count), but also occasionally ahead. Her attitude standing there among the big band professional players in her own bubble is striking. I honestly much prefer that performance. I look forward to your next. 🤗

I recorded it from the over-the-air broadcast unconverted and uncompressed, picked up by an antenna, after being alerted by the uploader that Angelina had mentioned on a social media platform on Friday that she would be on The View next week. The digital guide had no information about what guests would be on the program, so I set up to record every show that week, and it turned out she was on the last show of the week on Friday. A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. When she said she started singing at 1½, she was not merely repeating "family lore", there is Actual Video Evidence: ua-cam.com/video/pefir9zeOnw/v-deo.html A couple things you need to know before you watch it: 1. The video starts to repeat midway through, but there is a small portion later on that is not seen in the first half, so if you want to see everything just once and skip the repeated stuff, watch from the beginning to around 3m17s, then from around 5m29s to 5m38s (where she says something in Norwegian). 2. The woman behind the camera who can be heard singing is her mother, Sara (not her grandmother, Mery, as suggested by the video title). She is trying to get baby Angelina to do for the camera what she had already done off-camera. (The story goes that Sara came home one evening to find Angelina in the bedroom with the babysitter, singing this song. She thought it was "so sweet" that she "had to record it". This appears to be that very recording - although it's possible it was recorded a little later. Angelina was into this song for quite a while before moving onto jazz at age 2 or 3.) Some less crucial info: * The microphone she is holding is a real wireless karaoke mic (note the hexagonal anti-roll ring around the grill at the top). This has some interesting (possible) implications about how she might have first gotten interested in singing. And finally, some things of note that you might want to look for (or you might want to put off reading until after you've seen the video - I don't know how you feel about these sorts of things): * While she doesn't sing much of the song, and keeps returning to the title line at the wrong moments, there is one particular point where she appears to recognize where she is in the song just based on a chord change in the music, prompting her to sing the (perfectly delivered) phrase, "And I hope". This shows how familiar she already was with the song. * Notice how she slowly shakes her head as she sings certain lines, as if she actually understands what she's singing about. I don't think it's possible that she had more than a rudimentary understanding of some of the words (especially since English was not her first language), but she certainly seems to be connecting to the _feeling_ of the song - and even seems to be trying to _communicate_ that feeling through her singing. * Notice also the way she gestures with her free hand - at one point perhaps prompted by her mother, but at another point seemingly spontaneously - and the way she closes her eyes in the "big finish". Four years on from here, she sings this song in a practice session with a large jazz band for the Quincy Jones 85th year birthday celebration.
The improvement is stellar! In that practice session she shows off her skills at timing, especially the laid back (hanging just after the count), but also occasionally ahead. Her attitude standing there among the big band professional players in her own bubble is striking. I honestly much prefer that performance.

This is the only recording of the full segment of 8 year old Angelina on The View. I recorded it from the over-the-air broadcast unconverted and uncompressed, picked up by an antenna, after being alerted by the uploader that Angelina had mentioned on a social media platform on Friday that she would be on The View next week. The digital guide had no information about what guests would be on the program, so I set up to record every show that week, and it turned out she was on the last show of the week on Friday. I'm glad I was able to record it perfectly.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on UA-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on UA-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on UA-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On UA-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. It seems that Tobi has started cooperation with Angelina and there are several joint songs in the pipeline. At the May concert in Los Angeles, one of them was presented: BAD VALENTINE.

A couple things you need to know before you watch it:
1. The video starts to repeat midway through, but there is a small portion later on that is not seen in the first half, so if you want to see everything just once and skip the repeated stuff, watch from the beginning to around 3m17s, then from around 5m29s to 5m38s (where she says something in Norwegian).
2. The woman behind the camera who can be heard singing is her mother, Sara (not her grandmother, Mery, as suggested by the video title). She is trying to get baby Angelina to do for the camera what she had already done off-camera. (The story goes that Sara came home one evening to find Angelina in the bedroom with the babysitter, singing this song. She thought it was "so sweet" that she "had to record it". This appears to be that very recording - although it's possible it was recorded a little later. Angelina was into this song for quite a while before moving onto jazz at age 2 or 3.)
Some less crucial info:
* The microphone she is holding is a real wireless karaoke mic (note the hexagonal anti-roll ring around the grill at the top). This has some interesting (possible) implications about how she might have first gotten interested in singing.
And finally, some things of note that you might want to look for (or you might want to put off reading until after you've seen the video - I don't know how you feel about these sorts of things):
* While she doesn't sing much of the song, and keeps returning to the title line at the wrong moments, there is one particular point where she appears to recognize where she is in the song just based on a chord change in the music, prompting her to sing the (perfectly delivered) phrase, "And I hope". This shows how familiar she already was with the song.
* Notice how she slowly shakes her head as she sings certain lines, as if she actually understands what she's singing about. I don't think it's possible that she had more than a rudimentary understanding of some of the words (especially since English was not her first language), but she certainly seems to be connecting to the _feeling_ of the song - and even seems to be trying to _communicate_ that feeling through her singing.
* Notice also the way she gestures with her free hand - at one point perhaps prompted by her mother, but at another point seemingly spontaneously - and the way she closes her eyes in the "big finish". These things should be somewhat familiar to you already, now that you've seen a few of her performances at older ages. It's these aspects of her "physciality", almost more than the surprisingly good pitch control (IMO) and the "sensitivity" with which she is singing the song, that suggests to me that, somehow, the phrase "born to sing" is _literally_ true in her case.
