Hey Matti, can you do a comparison between the 120fps on the 1dx mark 2 @1080p and the 120fps on the Eos R upscaled from 720p to 1080p.
Maybe a blind test so we have to guess which was shot on which camera!!

    • @BenTroxell
      @BenTroxell 5 років тому +1

Miles Trevelyan-Johnson The 720p 120fps is pretty useless on the R. Looks like garbage. If you can’t tell them apart, you’re blind or need to upgrade your monitor from 1998.

Yes I have a 5dmk4......and it has the same limitations as the Eos R............however you can still manually focus the lens whilst shooting if you have an external monitor attached....or set the focus before hitting record.
ua-cam.com/video/pGKY3cxqnKs/v-deo.html. whilst the video may not be up to the 1dk2 quality, its not exactly garbage onced its upscaled properly to 1080, I think its useable if the lighting conditions are good.

So I have a question that perhaps anyone who knows can help me with ( I’m not banking on Matti actually replying). When you film in 120fp do you apply the slow motion after, in premiere pro? Or is there a way for the camera to make it slow motion within its settings. If you want to apply warp stabiliser and slow motion on the same clip you have to apply the slow motion and save it and import it again for the warp stabiliser to work on the same clip so it’s time consuming. That’s why I’m asking. Hope someone can help. Thanks :)

If you have a DSLR that can shoot a maximum of 60 fps:
    Shoot using that
In Premiere slow it as you wish,
    Right click the clip
Under time interpolation choose Optical Flow
Click enter to render that clip and enjoy your slow motion video
Note: This does not work perfectly 100% of the time. You may get some artifacts.

  • @Ben-fq1lj

I respectfully disagree with number 5. Two reasons why: #1 is that the reason I think that it appears to be more "dynamic" is because of your depth of field difference problems between those two shots. I don't know what you did, but the 85mm (Ithink its because of autofocus problems and not creating enough dof distance) looks like it was shot on f11 for a second. #2 Longer focal lengths hide the horrid resolution quality of 120fps in most cameras like you see at 6:23 (its looks out of focus). The exception for wides being when you're really close to the subject and create a nice dof compression like zoom lenses.

I know this video is a few years old so might not get a response but here goes:
I’m trying to film an upcoming vacation in Hawaii and wanna get a mix of slow mo b-roll and the rest shot on 24p for the cinematic look. I’m just confused how I can get all the shots to be consistent with the exposure because I’m hoping to shoot in Log and the ISO factor makes me wonder if I shouldn't shoot in Log for a mix of frame rates. Anyway I wanna do speed ramps so I guess it's better to shoot in high frame rate like 120 and then change the rate to speed it up in post...

#5 is where Peter would disagree. The Slow-mo shots with a wide Lens are maybe not the same ones as with a tighter focal length, but both are good.

How do you bring 120fps to normal speed without making it choppy?

When filming in 120fps and your transitions use 10frames either side of the cut in 30fps films. Do you just use 40frames instead? Just not near a computer to try is all

Can I do slowmo broll with 60 fps? My camera can just do 60 fps at 1080p.

Your nose running in the cold is called rhinorrhea. Seriously. The nose's job is to warm and filter air coming into your nasal passages and producing more mucous automatically helps it in cold and drier environments...when you exhale, that's drier air on the way out too so it accelerates the production even more...

What up Matti? I gotta question for u.... if u had to start all over and only had enough $ to purchase 2 lenses, what 2 lenses would be necessary to have in your bag?

I use 60fps on the 6d mk ii and love the slow motion it produces. Using these tips will make it even better!

Sooo cold usually constricts blood vessels but in your nose (mucous membrane) the air needs to be warmed and the cold stimulates mucus production to humidify the cold air

You are wrong. The longer the lens the more movement you get. You get a LOT more movement from a telephoto than whit a wide angle. By the way the word is telephoto, not zoom lens.

Why does your nose start running? And why do your feet smell? Who flipped stuff around?
