Ten years later, and it is still equally as badass as the band themselves.

@@blaizefire4903 Ditto. Have been a huge punk and prog metal fan for years. Relatively new listener and they kick so much ass. Catching them live next time they make it to Australia for sure.
Even though he doesn't growl as much as before, Matt's voice got seriously better with time, I love the singing in this one
I remember reading an article some time back where Matt explains that the reason he did a lot of screaming and growling In Ember to Inferno and Ascendancy was because he couldn't sing very well, but after learning, he started to incorporate more clean lyrics starting with The Crusade. At least, that's how I remember it. I could be wrong. Trivium have grown so much as musicians over the years and I'm stoked for their next album!
Omarr Guerrero you are correct. He sings now because he got a voice coach and he taught him. Talks about it in a few interviews.
Matt's change to singing the verses really helped. This song wouldn't have the creepiness, the dark, haunting angst of something like a parasite living in you. Now the shouting and screaming are more complimentary instead of accompanying which is actually better for this song and for Matt's health.
He cant sing with any sort of grit anymore. Shogun through Vengeance Falls was his best singing era. Still screams just as good as he has since Shogun though.

I think this song is about "the pain/hardness" of an unhappy realtionship...you know what i mean?
your girlfriend/boyfriend strips you of all but yourself (friend/hobbies etc) and gets really obsessed with you...after that when you reach the final last stage in the relationship"she kills everythin you held dear in your heart" and love changes into hate/dislike...thats how I interprete the "youre a monster" and the "youre built to fall" part....maybe someone agrees with that?

Really boring, uninspired guitar work I find, fortunately the most recent album is great though!
Well i don't hate this album, some tracks are really fire (like this one, black, shattering the skies, watch the world burn) and put me in the good mood. But i have to admit, the whole album is pretty generic in term of songwriting, verse 1 - chorus - verse 2 - bridge - chorus - end. It get kinda repetitive and boring after a while.
Videos for the songs on "In Waves" are fucking epic
Built to Fall, Dusk Dismantled and In Waves all give me chills! fell so much emotion from them all, love the In Waves album!

I've been following this band right from the start. I got into them by accident also,I went to see Children of Bosom & Amon Amarth @harpos in Detroit & trivium was opening & this was in 2003-2004 when they were only 18-19years old & there Dying In Your Arms album & there album that put them on the map,Ascendancy. but seeing them live for my first time blew me away & how young they were also.

There was supposed to be a continuation but I never actually found out why they didn't do it, I think there was supposed to be one for Black but that became a lyric video and then they made a video this time in 2012 for Watch The World Burn but instead they used tour footage

This song is funny. They say they are "monsters" and they are "built to fall." But if you listen to it closely, "built to fall" sounds like "beautiful". So they are monsters and they are "beautiful".
The simplest interpretation i can think of is this :It sounds like beautiful but it says built to fall. It's talking about his girlfriend. "i don't want to hate you...but you killed off everything in my heart" She is a monster and she is beautiful as you said. She's built to fall because he is forgetting about her. The pun intended is like a bitch slap to all these love songs that you can find anywhere you look.

Guess it's a fight announcement to your inner demon. some point where your demon like an addictiion is ruin your life or had it done already. at this point you only feel rage and you have to destroy this side, iit's an inner fight "you got your war against my head" . I like this song a lot. It can even help you to destroy sides of you that you don't love, like you have to overwound your lazy you hat won't let you reach some goals etc ..... yeah it's kind of hard to get rid of these deamons because they have quite something good in first sight, but they're destroying yyou from the inside

no, they just write with a lot different influences now. their latest two cd's still have heavier parts.... you have to listen for it.
Yeah with this album heavy songs include: Dusk Dismantled, A Skyline's Severance, Chaos Reigns, Slave New World, and various parts in other songs.
Wity Vengeance Falls, Vengeance Falls has some heavy, Villainy Thrives, Wake (The End Is Nigh), No Hope For The Human Race, and various parts of other songs are heavy.
They've gone from rather heavy Melodic Metalcore to more Progressive Metal (not saying they're Prog now, just saying they sound like they brought elements of into their sound)
