For those of you making fun of her and judging her. Shes actually extremely intelligent, she's a hyperglot and can speak about 10 different languages, as well as being a master guitarist. She was actually a child prodigie and apprenticed under Andrés Segovia (an extremely famous guitarist. It was like apprentecing under Michelangelo) and went to his school. She is extremely talented at the guitar as well as several other instuements. Arguably one of her most famous songs "sexy sexy" was written by her son, and was supposed to be sold to Brittney Spears. But his mother loved it so much that she kept it for herslef, she's actually a really interesting and intelligent person. Just because she cant articulate herself as good as in english does not make her less intelligent in her own language.
Where are the videos of her speaking other languages (I'm a language major, so that immediately caught my eye)?

Her bio on IMDB says that she is fluent in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Japanese (another website says she learned Japanese in the 90s while living in Hawaii to address the Japanese tourist crowd that usually went to her shows), but I did not find any video though

well maybe... it's possible that she also speaks Catalan, since she was married to Xavier Cugat for more than 10 years, but that's a wild guess from me, and this would only add one up to the list, so yep I bet that fact is overstated

I love Charo, she makes me happy, she’s very talented and she has a great sense of humour, which seems to have eluded Larry.
I've had the pleasure of seeing Charo in person when she performed in Hawaii. She is magnificent. She speaks 5 languages. These UA-cam videos don't do her justice.

@@justayoutuber1906 Oddly, my boyfriend is the same way. He speaks five languages (Arabic, Italian, English, Spanish, German), but English is the one he struggles with most.

Charo is a guilty pleasure mine. I can't figure out why I like her, but I always have. I guess I respect that she's in on the joke, milks it for everything it's worth, even if it overshadowed her musical talent. She was my favorite recurring guest in the talk show Merv Griffin used to have.

This amazing woman is one of the most underrated and undervalued artists of our time; she’s smart (speaks ten languages), she’s talented (plays classical Spanish guitar at least as well as Segovia), and has a great sense of humor. I adore her.
To think I only learned today or her incredible talent as a guitarist. I think she enjoys the sexy camp aesthetic so much, it sort of overshadowed her technical brilliance in the broader public perception of her. But I also think that branding that she enjoys so much is partly why she is so successful. Combining her guitar skill with one of the brightest personalities of the past century was nothing short of artistic genius. And to top it all of she's a polyglot with all those languages under her belt. Extremely clever woman!

Idk why, but I've liked her ever since I was a kid. She just seems like she'd be fun to hang out with.
Chui chui... a dog mix with subaru dog and pit bull had a car accident. Her grandma was a “vet” the dog had a certain walk because of the accident. And she called the dog chui after the long walk... it became part of her act. I speak only English. Why do people make it so hard? Just use your ears and listen.
Pretty sure she said a Saint Bernard and a pit bull, not a subaru. That's where the joke comes in that the dog would bite you, then go get help.

I Google a tv personality and Charo came up under "People also searched for." I immediately wanted to know her age. Since she was around when I was a kid I figured she must be around 80 years old. She's 69.
Then it struck me...I never thought about her full name! 😯 It's Maria Rosario Pilar Martinez Molina Baeza.

She may not be 69 some sources as have her as 79, others on between. She married Xavier Cugat on 1966 when she was supposedly 15. But she also reportedly said she graduated from school at 16. At the time reports said she was 20. 2 years earlier she was reported as being 18.the most reliable info has her being born 1941. Also she was headlining in Vegas in 1971. Quite a feat to be headlining Vegas at 19 or 20.

There is NO way she was born in 1951. 1931 maybe. Origins of her D.O.B. have been argued for decades but she had a Mexican court rule and confirm that it was in 1951. She was popular in the mid to late 60's. If she was born in '51 that would have made her 15-16 at the time, which just isn't accurate. I got to see her perform on our Atlantis Cruise to the Mediterranean in 2006. She did a show and was AMAZING!!! Instead of taking the tram up the mountain side to Santorini, she rode a donkey up the side. It keep slipping on s*@t on the trail so they made her get off and walk the rest of the way up. She was very funny on that trip. :)
Well that’s disappointing that she would ride a donkey. Those animals are worked and tortured to death going uphill in 35 plus degree heat all day, quite often carrying very fat white tourists. She was an icon for me as a kid. Very pretty and talented.

Basically, she learned that It makes her lots of money when she says it. lol.
Her grandparents used to have a dog named cuchillo, which means knife in spanish, and so she would shorten the name to "cuchi". And one day the dog got into an accidwnt which messed up its spine, so from then on the dog wouldnt shake from side to side becasue of its spine injury. So it would shake back and forth, so one day she got on the johny Carson show and she didnt speak a lot of english at the time so she started dancing and imitating her dog abd saying "como cuchi" which means "like my dog knife" because she was imitating her dog... named knife. And then it kinda just stuck. 🤷♂️
