I met her when I was 18 years old at the fountain blue in Miami Beach Florida. She was extremely talented, very short and petite, stunning to behold visually, and a magnificent guitarist, second only to Andre Segovia. There used to be a illustrater named Sokol at Playboy magazine. He dreamed up a character called, 'Little Annie Fanny' and Charro is a real human clone of that character.
I never thought she was a ditz. She always seemed smarter than anyone else with her on the stage. I knew of her guitar prowess but did not know some of the other details. Very classy and beautiful
I just met Charo at a meet and greet in Burbank, California. She is a delightful and charming woman. And she most certainly should be recognized more for her guitar playing.
I will tell you I used to go to her house as someone I was friend’s with dated her son Shel. Her Sister looks a lot like her & I did some singing with her nephew. I actually used to pick fruit from her house with permission. She’s extremely underrated as a musician. However, if you know music particularly guitar you know how gifted she is. The hot chick / dumb blonde / eye candy is a crucial part of show biz. It’s been around forever in various incarnations and has given us some beloved stars over the decades. That being said many of the women who find success with this image are often far more talented and can offer more, it’s just that the industry only allows them so much. Charo is the perfect example of this, the image and schtick made her an icon and wealthy but it overshadowed her musical talent. However the success she earned gave her a platform to - at least on occasion- showcase those deeper talents. In some ways there are parallels between Charo & Dolly Parton. Undoubtedly though Charo is an Icon who will only become MORE respected as time goes by.
I watched it growing up I thought she was great singing dancing movies I thought she was beautiful and she could play that guitar it was really cool I've never seen anybody out accomplished what she has in her life seeing how I'll never be able to see her I would like her to know that she's giving me a lot of good memories and this 61-year-old loves watching her no matter what she's doing
I have always been a huge fan of Charo I know that she is highly intelligent genius and one of the most incredible flamenco guitarist I've ever seen in my life and I've been in the music business for 30 years and I've been in the entertainment business for longer she is a legend and it would be such an honor to perform with her
She never aged, and is an amazing talent. She was the best guitarist /dancer, very sexy, and her vamp/ kitten act was a comedic put-on. There seems to be no 'dark-truth' about Charo, she's great!
Thanks for the update! I used to keep track of her when she was on television a lot, but lost track over the years. While we don't know her real age, she's somewhere around my age! For years I thought she was older than I was, now it looks like she may be a bit younger, who knows! She may be the most famous flamenco guitar player , but Segovia has been considered the greatest of all. He taught her. I remember her Cuchi-cuchi though. Looks like she's gotten the same pinched nose job that the members of the Jackson family went through, that's rather obvious! Thanks again and for a great delivery! You're one of the best narrators on UA-cam videos about famous celebrities, nice diction, clear voice and at least you pronounce names correctly...great job again, much appreciated.
María Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza,(Charo) was born January 15, 1951 (age 70 years), in Murcia, Spain. Her first husband was Xavier Cugat they were married (m. 1966-1978) which would have made her only 15 years old
Charo deserves to be recognized more for her acting and amazing musical talent along with being very intelligent person. I'm also very sure she's a very interesting person 🙂
Yes, Charo deserves recognition for her classical guitar work. And looking back nostalgically to what show biz was like in the 1960s and 70s, a little "cuchi-cuchi" is a pleasant memory of a young girl who lived out the "Lucy Ricardo" fantasy.
She is in our hearts that's for sure. The fact that she is still relevant speaks in volumes. Todays mainstream popularity is not a measure. Charo actually IS talented! She is beautiful, skilled, smart, professional, sexy and a great comedian and actress. I'll never forget her. Coochi Coochi always.
I met her and her Husband in 2018, she was very nice and talked with me for about 15 minutes. She said I was to young to know who she was lol. We did a photo together ( Her late Husband took the photo ) and called it a night, again very nice person. Sad to hear her Husband passed he qas also a very nice person.
I loved watching her on the love boat, with her bubbly personality and even more when she performed with her guitar, her voice was amazing. I don’t think of her being silly nor of the dumb blond jokes. She was bubbly and maybe over excited, but I think of that has her charm. She always made me feel good after watching her.
She should definitely be recognized for her accomplishments on playing classical/flamenco guitar. I love flamenco guitar. But the television and/or movie industry, not so much. She's obviously a very smart as well as talented woman. It's not easy to learn Chinese and the home she built for many family members with an intercom system throughout the home was a tremendous idea. She's really an amazing woman............. unstoppable!
We watched Charo on Oahu Hawaii at her club by far the most charming and musically gifted Lady . She danced , joked and then played amazing flamenco guitar a true talent .
I've played guitar since age 12 and played pro from 15 to 40 and can hold my own well enough. I saw her on tv playing back in the early 70's and she inspired me to learn classical also. She truly is a awesome guitarist and deserves mention as such.
I met and interviewed Charo years ago in the 1990s as a reporter. I saw her perform. guitar before meeting and talking with her afterwards. Clearly an outstanding and skilled guitarist. Unfortunately this was little known about her in trms of public. She was known mostly as a personality type on TV shows . I found this unfortunate.
I loved her when I was a child and I had no idea she was a flamenco guitarist! I love flamenco - going to have to get some of her albums. My Mom and I ate at her restaurant when we visited Kauai. I don't remember the food now because it was so long ago.
I was a teenager in the 70's and thought she was just another blonde bimbo. Then in 1984 I went to Hawaii and had a beer and hamburger at a place on the beach on Kaua'i she owned. My god what a wonderful talented women. She is also devoted to her family and such a treasure. I haven't thought about her in 35 years Thank you for highlighting this wonderful lady. Hell no she wasn't over rated. I think she is to this day one of the most talented performers from that time or any other. Best wishes Charo from a fan.
Charo is an AMAAAAAAZING guitar player. I've been playing for 25 years, and I have nothing on her. She's absolutely incredible. I was genuinely blown away.
Her schtick was to come off as a wise ditz. However, she she is very easy on the eyes and is wonderful on the guitar!!! I have most of her albums. I never considered myself as guitar fan but, she turned me into one!
I had no idea of her AMAZING talents until You Tube recommended her video on Ed Sullivan. She doesn't deserve the stereotype dumped on her. But Charo played the game...all the way to the bank!
I, always, loved her April Lopez character on the Love Boat, but it was her guitar playing that made me love her. Her technique was on a par with the greatest guitar players out there, including Brian May, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton.
I always thought of Charo as this kind of ditsy camp figure (from Carol Burnett Show). I would never have imagined her as a highly trained Classical Flaminco Guitarist trained by the great Segovia. I have a greater respect for this funny and multitalented entertainer.
I didn't know that Charo was considered one of the " World's Foremost " " Female ' Femenco Guitarists " ! ? That is Quite an Impressive feat ! / @ 5:46 Her Album; " Charo Guitar Passion " is worth looking up on " UA-cam. " The tune; " Caliente " lasts 4;31 .
One of my boyhood crushes. Still looks good with the work done on her. Never knew she played flamenco guitar because I never saw play guitar. If I had known, it would have been a plus because I also play guitar.
Her birthdate in Wikipedia says Jan. 1951, but an appearance on Ed Sullivan as shown in UA-cam playing/singing "La Cucuracha" is from April 1965. That is definitely not a 14 year old girl. Regardless of her actual age, yes, she was a fun personality to watch. Truly a shame that she was known here more for the wild and crazy blonde routine than her world-class musicianship.
I saw her show in Warrensburg Missouri at Univ. of Central Missouri family weekend in 2017 It was a great show for a relatively small crowd in what seemed to be an unorthodox surrounding in the middle of no where Missouri Really a good show. she had a portion of the performance dedicated to her guitar playing Very very nice.
i have always loved Charo's energy and personality ! she's very famous for her guitar skills and her ability for new languages ! she has always seemed a sweet and kind woman ! Cheers Charo!
I once headed to Hawaii, and on the plane I talked to a rich woman that was sitting beside me. Anyhow, once there, she took me to a Charo show. They instantly said that there were no seats available. She then handed them cash, and we ended up only feet from Charo. It is amazing what money can do.

@@jamesfetherston1190glad to see that _somewhere_ in the comments you put the basis for your statement. Fair enough. But you can understand why a person reading your comment just tossing it out there after decades of coverage saying otherwise would find your statement dubious when you didn't supply a source or quote as you did here.
I loved all her appearances on the Carol Burnett show and Charo's mom sketch, hilarious!!!
Charo is a fabulous entertainer. Her performances, tv appearances and roles in movies are amazing.
Spot on!
Yes she is very talented and she should be recognized for this
Went to the islands for honeymoon in 96.Had choice to see her or Don Ho. I remember her from Loveboat and was amazed how she played. No brainer who we went to see.She is a amazing talent, never stops or slows down.Real firecracker of energy.Tried to record her, it was hard she was all over.Lost her for a second then had someone grab me from behind.Chauro got you baby and you could imagine what happened next. They say she is the hardest and richest woman on the big island is no lie.Truely amazing .
I saw Charo in Vegas with Jim Neighbors and she absolutely blew me away with her guitar playing, I knew that she could play but I never knew that she was that good. The show was absolutely fantastic and probably my favorite Vegas show of all times. Charo should absolutely get recognized for all of her abilities.
There used to be a illustrater named Sokol at Playboy magazine. He dreamed up a character called, 'Little Annie Fanny' and Charro is a real human clone of that character.
I always liked her. She was goofy but clearly talented.
Absolutely! Her talent goes way beyond her natural beauty!🤗
Charo deserves the best in life, stay happy.
Stay safe too! What other types of videos would you like to see?
I love her personalty. We need more of that here.
Glad to hear you liked the video! We'll try to work on more Charo videos in the future. What other types of videos would you like to see?
Total entertainer , and massively underrated
Wow. I didn't know much about her and I didn't watch those shows except the Love Boat. I was surprised how talented guitarist she is 👏👏👏
I will tell you I used to go to her house as someone I was friend’s with dated her son Shel. Her Sister looks a lot like her & I did some singing with her nephew. I actually used to pick fruit from her house with permission. She’s extremely underrated as a musician. However, if you know music particularly guitar you know how gifted she is. I messaged her after her husband’s suicide. They are a very lovely & down to earth family. She’s a very classy lady.
Charo was a part of my childhood days ❤️ Charo
I enjoyed watching her in the 70s and 80s
At 2:43 the blonde beehived performer onstage is not Charo, but Ginger Rogers.
I remember her well growing up watching Ed Sullivan etc, and fantastic. Flaminco Guitarist.
Saw her a few years ago in Waikiki at Hilton Hawaiian Village Show.
She was excellent
I had my picture taken with Charo at Hilton Hawaiian village in December 1991.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
I have always been a huge fan of Charo I know that she is highly intelligent genius and one of the most incredible flamenco guitarist I've ever seen in my life and I've been in the music business for 30 years and I've been in the entertainment business for longer she is a legend and it would be such an honor to perform with her
She’s way smarter than you think. Good video!
She never aged, and is an amazing talent. She was the best guitarist /dancer, very sexy, and her
vamp/ kitten act was a comedic put-on. There seems to be no 'dark-truth' about Charo, she's great!
Dark truth was her choocie choocie catch phrase.
I didn't know that Charo was such a gifted guitarist. I liked her bubbly personality and found her enjoyable.
I remember watching her on tv when I was a kid, she was funny.
Growing up I saw alot of Charo on tv and was always entertained by her. I always enjoyed seeing her on tv.
Glad you like Charo. What other types of videos would you like to see?
@@FactsVerse Last night I watched quite a few of you videos one after the other and enjoyed watching them. Keep em coming.
We agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
Beautiful words, thank you for your message for Charo! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
*I saw CHARO live in Acapulco in 1970. I was VERY IMPRESSED !!!*
With Sammy Davis
I met her just a few years ago in Beverly Hills
She sat on my lap and was very relaxed..
She made us all laugh!
Charo has appeared on the TV show, the Love boat more times than any other celebrity. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Great fun fact! Thank you Harper 👍
Her unique talent and charm are a great reason why she deserves to be bettered recognized. She always brought a smile to many including myself,
I met her and her Husband in 2018, she was very nice and talked with me for about 15 minutes. She said I was to young to know who she was lol. We did a photo together ( Her late Husband took the photo ) and called it a night, again very nice person. Sad to hear her Husband passed he qas also a very nice person.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
Tremendous stage performer. Ton of energy. Around forever.
We watched Charo on Oahu Hawaii at her club by far the most charming and musically gifted Lady . She danced , joked and then played amazing flamenco guitar a true talent .
Obviously very talented and beautiful woman. 🥰
I've played guitar since age 12 and played pro from 15 to 40 and can hold my own well enough. I saw her on tv playing back in the early 70's and she inspired me to learn classical also. She truly is a awesome guitarist and deserves mention as such.
I was playing the Segovian Scales when you said that she was taught by Andre Segovia. How lucky of her!
Yeah, when she plays the guitar its obvious. She's no joke. Beautiful woman. Very interesting.
Thank you for sharing your experience being an interviewer who had the chance to talk to Charo. How was she personally?
I grew up with Charo on TV in the 1970s. I enjoyed her funny and cheerful persona and admired her beauty.
I loved her when I was a child and I had no idea she was a flamenco guitarist! I love flamenco - going to have to get some of her albums. My Mom and I ate at her restaurant when we visited Kauai. I don't remember the food now because it was so long ago.
Extremely beautiful, talented, iconic, and well deserving of recognition!
I loved Charo as a child. I always thought she was underrated. She is still beautiful and talented.
I was Blessed at 9yrs old to watch Charro perform in 1973 at a Bob Hope show at the cotton bowl 70,000 people in attendance...
She’s incredibly talented and beautiful too…
I had no idea she was a guitarist and taught by Spain’s most distinguished guitar player
Charo is an AMAAAAAAZING guitar player. I've been playing for 25 years, and I have nothing on her. She's absolutely incredible. I was genuinely blown away.
Would have been nice to include some of her guitar playing
I now have to find her flamenco cds.
Thanks for watching!
Her schtick was to come off as a wise ditz. However, she she is very easy on the eyes and is wonderful on the guitar!!! I have most of her albums. I never considered myself as guitar fan but, she turned me into one!
I have loved Charo since I was a kid in the 70's. She is still captivating!
Thanks for watching!
I saw Charo in Las Vegas! She was amazing! ♥️👍
I always thought of Charo as this kind of ditsy camp figure (from Carol Burnett Show). I would never have imagined her as a highly trained Classical Flaminco Guitarist trained by the great Segovia. I have a greater respect for this funny and multitalented entertainer.
She is with out a doubt , one of the best guitar players in history.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
I didn't know that Charo was considered one of the " World's Foremost "
" Female ' Femenco Guitarists " ! ?
That is Quite an Impressive feat ! / @ 5:46 Her Album; " Charo Guitar Passion " is worth
looking up on " UA-cam. " The tune; " Caliente " lasts 4;31 .
Charo is a beautiful soul. I met her a few times and she's always friendly and welcoming.
She's having the time of her life on the social medias these days! Bless her heart!
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! How did you find the performance of Charo in Hawaii?
@@FactsVerse Amazing. But I have to admit, I did spend some time just studying her, kind of trying to see what was so different than her from the rest of us little people.. She seemed to notice that and we stared eye to eye.
