Love your channel, just found it and am binging on your videos. Alberta is my old stomping grounds and you're making me miss some of my fave areas around Banff and Jasper!
Absolutely love your videos marty. Love the humility as well. I just got back from a failed attempt at No Dice Lake in Washington. Anyone who says they've never failed while backpacking, especially off-trail travel is full of crap haha! Mother nature is so dang powerful
Mother nature is awe inspiring. I love it when she decides she's had enough and just does something incredible, like move a river 500 yds. Failure is just one more reason to go back. I'll be going back here for sure. Cheers.
Looks like a great time makes me even more restless to get out in the backcountry, we are kicking off our season next weekend ! Doing a quick day hike in Sibbald today ✌️
We are considering an exploratory to the lake, now that the Sheep River and Junction Creek are flowing lower than when you went (June). So river and creek crossings shouldn't be an issue. Sounds like there will be some bushwhacking if trails have been washed out or hard to find. Were you relying on maps or a trail app?
Thanks Victor. I'm bumbed that we didn't get to the lake. We were so close, and my initial assumption was correct. We should not have crossed the creek. I'll be going back there before summer's end. Only issue is that later in the summer the lake dries up.
KatWoman we spent the evening in the rain. She went to bed with a chill and never warmed up. She stubbornly refused to accept some of my warm clothes. Otherwise it wasn’t unusually cold.

Where's home now? Glad I'm bringing you some good memories.
@@Martyupnorth Up north in the Yukon but family is still in AB so I visit regularly.
Check out the black bear sow and her two cubs at 25:17. One cub is pure black, while the other is cinnamon. Both are no more than a few months old.
The cinnamon one blends-in so well when it's down in the ditch. I had a hard time seeing it. Very nice. Great video as always.
It is always so interesting to see what other backpackers take on trips - but the food Evan takes is nuts!
As he always says "It's bananas". He's a great Chef, and an amazing friend.

thanks for sharing your passion Marty 👍👍✌
please continue to be careful & stay safe 👍👍✌
Hey Marty, did you ever return to find the lake?
No. It's not really a worthwhile objective.

@@judyhope2737 I'm a map guy. I don't rely on a trail app, I bring a real GPS when I'm exploring new wilderness.
Yeah I don’t recognize the area where you guys were, must have taken a wrong drainage maybe.
Bud your videos just keep getting Better and more enjoyable! Always looking forward to your next video. Such beautiful country. Take care Bud!

Excellent trip Marty with all you guys. I am never disappointed with a Marty video. Wish I lived in that area such beauty!
Thanks 👍 Steve. The National Parks reopen this week, so now the fun can really begin.
A great trip. Was it cold overnight that Karen was so cold?
