Great message and a great hiking partner and friend. ‘23 was a good year for adventure and looking forward to many more. I do hope you vlog for a long time to come buddy. We’ve often campfire talked about new chapters and I firmly believe that change is as good as a vacation…preferably doing both at the same time. Merry Christmas, Happy holidays, and Happy New Year to all who engage Marty’s platforms.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for all your comments and posts of the last year. It helps just knowing that there are still good people doing good things.
Merry Xmas 🎄 Marty to you Karen and all the family. Your neighbours have more lights than Clarke W Griswold in their yard. We did a Xmas light tour the other night.
Thanks Marty. And hope you get to do the travel videos. I had a great year too and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, camped 2 nights and hiked back up. Then did hikes in Sedona and Yosemite, camping in Yosemite too. Canada is still on my bucket list and hope to get to Lake Louise. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas Marty! I usually don’t comment but thought I would today. Thanks for all you do on Clyde’s channel. Your insight and constant research into the politics of this country is very much appreciated and valued. I also love this channel of yours and your many hiking adventures in beautiful Alberta. Sending you many blessings and a very Happy New Year too!
Marty what about bike trips. We cycled through Europe! Look up the bike and barge trips. We have cycled in Romania, Chez Republic, Holland, Lake Constance around the lake which is Germany, Switzerland and Australia. Also Loire Valley in FranceTo name a few. It’s a great way to see the country.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Marty. Long time viewer but finally subscribed. Always appreciated that you show where your adventures are located. It's given me ideas on areas to explore in Alberta including taking my wife to Carnavon Lake, and putting her at ease when tackling the scrambling section at the end.
Merry Christmas to you, your family and friends Marty. I hope you all have a great 2024. It was great seeing you on 'Clyde do something' last night. Thanks so much for great videos and being who you are. God Bless !
You're a good man, Marty. Been watching you for years now and I'm grateful I came across your channel. Thank you for sharing your adventures backpacking Canada with us. It's been a pleasure and hopefully you don't stop anytime soon. Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family.
Merry Christmas Marty & Family safe and happy holidays! It's a huge thing at your age to still be doing all of those things even though your still young lots of folks cant or won't get out for a break of fresh air and take in mother nature's beauty, you remind me of my dad he's 84 now and still plugging along hunting with me, flinging chainsaws carving he maybe a little slower at 84 but way more mobile then most people his age take care Marty 👍🤘
Thanks for sharing. Marty can you talk about Yuri Bezmenov (Thomas Shulman)? Former KGB officer, specialist of political subversions… now happening in Canada. All the best in 2024. 🇨🇦
Happy 2024 to @MartyUpNorth, the most adventurous hiker and engineer in Canada! You always explore new trails and solve new problems. I wish you all the best and success in the new year. Keep on hiking, eh? #MartyUpNorth #NewYearWishes
Thank you for sharing your adventures Marty. I have been watching your channel for several years and you have been the inspiration for me to start hiking especially overnighters. Merry Christmas from BC
Glad to hear you and the family are continuing to excel at life! Give them my best! I dropped the ball on getting a card out this year, so Merry Christmas to you and yours and a Happy New Year!!!
You rock buddy; really hoping I can get back into hiking a tad more in 2024! Life’s so busy but will make time in 2024 for sure. Miss the bunch and those fireside chats. Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année 2024 à toi et la famille mon chum!
Merry Christmas. Really enjoy your weekly talks with Clyde. If you need travel Ideas for south America the feel free to reach out as I have spent quite a few months down there backpacking and hiking.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Marty! Early retirement and children set up for success, sounds pretty awesome. I hope to be there in 12 years or so.
Glad all is well. I watch your adventures from afar in the NYC suburbs, wishing I could join you. I have done a little backpacking in Banff in the past, not nearly as much as I want to. I now get 5 weeks vacation so it's possible I can go more in the future, if I find companions. Again, watching wilderness adventure from a distance, I learn about unfortunate events when they happen. Do you have any thoughts on the couple that got killed by the grizzly bear back in September? I don't want to be afraid backpacking in wilderness and where the wild things are - that's what adds excitement to trips like this - but I have to say, that's not how I want to go out. I know it's rare, but it happens often enough to not want to win THAT lottery.
That incident with the old grizzly sow was a fluke. Bear encounters make sensational news, but they are still rare, and relatively preventable. I tell people not to let the fear of animals stop them from enjoying nature. One of the best things to do is hike in a group of 4 or more. There are no records of bears ever attacking a group of 4. Cheers.
@Martyupnorth Well rare and fluke it still happens occasionally, and I know as wilderness lovers we can't let that get inside our heads. The crazy thing with this incident I'm referring to...after they did a little investigation they said that the couple did everything by the book and it still happened. However, I understand that dogs and grizzlies don't mix...and nobody was there so nobody knows what happened. Do you think having a dog with them might have had something to do with it?
