      This is exactly why they don't fly on ISS. They don't have the same flight safety standards as the rest of us. Even russia at least launches from isolated locations and have self destruct.

      There’s been at least one other instance of something similar happening. The Viking-8 rocket broke free of its hold down clamps during testing in 1952. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other instances of this, but it’s certainly not a common failure

      @@timspiker I really fear for those astronauts at reentry. So many Helium leaks popped up, thrusters not working.... I would wait for one of Elons ships to pick me up. I just wanted to say- mishaps occur just everywhere when testing spaceships 🚀. See it the other way: This stage was so strong, that it just ripped of the test bench connections 🖖😃

      Unknown, but 0 seems somewhat likely. As far as I can tell it didn’t land in a residential area, instead landing in a wooded area. I suppose a few deaths are possible, but China would never admit to them

    The biggest mistake here:
    It wasn't even supposed to launch,it was only a static test,but the bolts failed and the rocket engines flew away.

    Ummmm......static fire tests for solid fuel boosters are often done horizontally. You know, to avoid situations like this.
    I bet what irritates the Chinese government more is that this failure made it to UA-cam.

      It’s better to test liquid rockets vertically to learn more about fuel flow related to gravity. Most vertically tested rockets use really beefy hold down clamps, though

      This is a private Chinese space company, and next year a private Chinese space company will test a reusable rocket. The recovery carrying capacity is more than India's biggest rocket, and that's just private enterprise.

      I mean, even if the rocket was planned to have a Flight Termination System (don’t know whether or not that is the case), would they have installed it for a static fire test? I’m pretty sure FTS install is usually only done as one of the final steps before launch, and this rocket was NOT supposed to be launching today. Man, what a bizarre failure!

    As much as I dislike regulations, there's good reason for them, particularly when it comes to things of an explosive nature. It's easy to mock something like this, I just hope there were no injuries or worse. And don't get me wrong, 'accidentally' launching from a static fire is a MASSIVE whoopsie (understatement), it should be a very long time before these operators are allowed another attempt.

    Engineers from any country don't see this as a failure. They see this as an opportunity to learn and keep moving forward. Musk blew up a few rockets also. Ignorant to make fun of what is really just a necessary step in progress.
