    I feel like there are a few details he didn't specifically talk about that really helped me learn in the past learn this technique. 1) It's much easier to blend applying a dark color second and mixing into the light color. 2) Don't apply the tones on top of one another, but next to eachother, then blend them in the middle with the brush after wiping it off. 3) A good workflow is to use this technique to make an initial blend, then adjust with glazes, you see him doing this as much as wet blending in the vid.

      Yeah I find I need to wipe the paint off the brush when I want to blend the two colours together. If I'm constantly adding more paint, the paints don't blend very well.

    dude THANK YOU. I had watched six or seven other wet blending videos and no one else had just slammed paint on the mini like you did. I thought i was doing something wrong or just had no idea what i was doin g until you explained, "you need a lot of paint so it stays wet"
    i thought i needed to use water to smear it across the different colors. Thank you again

    This was really instructive. We hear all the time that we HAVE TO THIN OUR PAINTS, and we beginners start to do it without much thought... This video shows us that sometimes, thick paint can be used to our advantage.
    Thanks a lot!

    • @Valandar2

      This video is deceptive about that. It's better to NOT have "thick paint", but rather paint mixed with a small amount of medium, and a little drying retarder. This lets you NOT clog up all the detail with thick layers, and while it LOOKS thick, it dries thinner than 'pure paint'.

    Would definitely like to see more on this technique, especially any considerations for models smaller than the stormcast. It would also help to zoom even more on palette and get better idea of the paint thickness for each step, maybe running the brush along the palette to show the different oaint thicknesses from another angle. I think there's a huge number of us who would love to learn how to paint like your time lapse videos, heh.

  • @Jesentra

    New painter here! You use very thick paints here for this blending, and I see why. Every time I read about painting, I am always told to do it in thin, watered down layers, because thick layers obscure details and can be streaky. How do you deal with these issues (obscuring details and streaks) when you're using thick coats for blending?

    • @AngelGiraldeZ
      @AngelGiraldeZ  3 роки тому +1

      Good question. I use thick layers when I want to apply this technique, so you don’t cover details; what you have to do is refine the paint as the layers are thinner.

    Instead of using thick layers of paint, just use some retarder to slow down drying time, and increase working time. You dont need thick layers of paint that will mask details on your minis.
