      Yes, im a tinkerer, and Im all about suspension tuning usually so i had to change it, was too twitchy in the front, and too loose in the rear for that dusty track.
      Ive heard of that on facebook, the wd40 thing, does it make them greasy?

    • @rexrcs

      Hi AJ Kim, Ive recently made some changes but havent driven it yet, I will be in a couple weeks though. Ive flipped the rear lower hinge block upside down to increase the rear 'toe in' for more rear end stability, Ive also changed the front spring to a harder spring rate.
      ideally if i want it to handle better, a good place to start could be tires, but im trying to use the factory tires included in the kit

    Great running video. The tires also make the difference. It’s best to go with tires that’s similar what you see on RC10’s and the like.I’m so glad you run your RC’s and not put them on Shelves as shelf queens. Not to sound mean, but to me they are like posers. It’s like those rich guys that buy nice exotic cars and never drive them. They don’t deserve those exotics.😕. Keep up the great work!

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Christopher! glad youre taking the time to chat. I also feel some tires would be beneficial, I was also thinking some mult-pin stadium truck style treads. I'm a driver type, I like to drive and operate things, my favourite part is learning how to adjust my driving style to different chassis' so you'll defineatly find my driving my toys, don't get it wrong though...I do have shelf queens, after one or two runs I put most of my rally cars on the shelf forever once they have real mud and dirt on them, that collection is slowly growing nicely. I get the rally cars for the purpose of them being 1/10 static models for me. come back again soon!

      @@rexrcs Awesome! Like you I love you tweak with my RC’s to see what will work better . Unfortunately, I’m not heavy into RC’s like I used to be. Getting into RC’s back in the 80’s sure got me into real cars now. Now I’m more into JDM cars and do cost way more money, but like you I now love to tweak and wrench on JDM cars.😂. And as for the shelf queens, like you stated being like a model after a run or what not, I never thought of it that way, but now you mentioned it, it does make more sense.😀 In a way coming kinda coming back to the hobby, but more for the tweaking and restoring. Again, keep up the great work and can’t wait to see more future videos!

    I'm loving mine but I find the steering very "on the nose" on some surfaces. It seems like the slightest touch of the steering will send it spinning out on tarmac and it can be a real pain to keep it in a straight line because when you try to make tiny corrections, it wants to shoot off in that direction. It's almost like I can't make little corrections to keep it straight.
    Weird thing is, when it's actually going in the direction you want, it tracks as straight as an arrow, it seems to have decent straight line stability but it's like it over reacts to the most subtle of inputs. Might be exasperated a little by the brushless motor although it's only a 2700kv so not monster fast.
    Apart from that, I really like it. Rides well and better ground clearance than the newer buggies. Plenty of steering when you actually want it too.
    I just find it hard work trying to keep it straight along narrow paths etc. Maybe part of it's the price you pay for responsiveness. My DT-02 and 03, Hotshot, even lunchbox etc though just seem like much less hard work to drive fast in a straight line lol

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  2 роки тому

      Hey Valley!
      I agree that its very twitchy, either the front has too much control, or the rear doesnt have enough. thats why in the beginning I took out spacers from the rear to try and achieve more droop and a softer more tameable read end, and I reduced the stiffness of the front, to help reduce the initial steering response, going straight certainly was easy, slowing down however was iffy, the tail seemed to allow too much weight transfer towards the front and allowing the rear to come around too easy, I feel like suspension upgrades and optional springs would allow better tunability and this chassis could be very good!
      hmmm, lower kv motors have lots of torque, thats the only thing i think of immediatly if youre experienceing torque steer, or you could be using too high of a pinion thus giving less range of finite throttle control, lower pinion would give you a wider range of mid throttle control?
      I persoanlly love the ground clesrance for bashing, but Id lower it for serious racing.
      how fast does yours go? does the steering wander?

    • @ValleyRC
      @ValleyRC 2 роки тому +1

      @@rexrcs I don't think it's torque steer as it will do it even at a constant speed or coasting. Only the stock pinion at the moment.
      It just seems super sensitive to inputs.
      It tracks as straight as an arrow when you dont actually try and steer it. It's just when I try to make minor course corrections that it seems to be difficult.
      Take a look at my DT02 kumamon video, it's running a brushless too and yet I can take it up that footpath relatively easily and make the minor corrections needed to keep it straight. With the TD, if it's heading slightly toward the grass on either side of the path and I try to make a minor correction, even the slightest touch of the steering causes a pretty violent direction change and it's easy to end up zig zagging.
      I guess it's just how the chassis is. I'll try some thicker oil in the front and maybe softer at the back, maybe give it a slight nose up stance, a little toe in maybe too.
      The thing is, though, I'll probably drive it off road 99% of the time anyway so I don't want to go too far making it drive well in that one scenario as the cost of performance on surfaces where I will use it the most.
      I just found it curious how difficult it was just to simply drive along that path, though, it's literally the most difficult I've ever owned so it stood out like a sore thumb.

      @@rexrcs On mine ive put the ESC in the old battery compartment and mounted a smaller size lipo nearer the front on top of the servo. The car has a 50/50ish weight distribution front to rear as a result and you don't get the spinning out rear end anywhere near as much. Its a challenging, but rewarding drive and in many ways more fun that a truggy on dirt. Even on 2s the speed is mental because of the lightness
