Приєднався 25 гру 2007
My name is Rex and this is my RC channel
I like playing with RC's and messing with things, tuning, etc. I've been in the hobby for 20+ years, spent much of that inside an actual hobby shop with access to a plethora of models throughout the years. I use to ignore Tamiya, now Im discovering all they have to offer
MOST of my videos are driven and filmed by myself alone. Videos are filmed on my cell phone (iphone XR and now iphone 14), edited on my cell phone, and uploaded from my cell phone, and best viewed on a cell phone. Once in a while I’ll use a gopro session 5
MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Enjoy and rememeber, the surface I’m running on is very high grip carpet, your experience may vary from mine. I made a mistake on the price, it was only $169.99 CAD taxes no speed control included. I will try this car on different surfaces in the future

{NEW} TAMIYA BBX FIRST RUN AND THOUGHTS [BB-01]
What oil and spring weight do you run?
Sweet build
I remember thinking this thing was badass
Did Hunter S Thomas make this video?
You sound like the Hunter S. Thompson of RC
I wish Tamiya still made 1:8th scale stuff. This as an 1:8th scale would be an instant buy. I sadly dont have any basher spots for a 1:10th scale in my area.
the crotch rocket one was so good
Did you fix it being loose? Does it still have a lot of play in the boom and stick
It does have a lot of play, cant avoid it because of the tolerance gaps in the linear actuators sadly
Best RC channel.
Thanks but far from it I think 😅
Not being a jerk but it kind of seems like a shitbox.
Jerk! Im just kidding, I don’t see that as being a jerk at all, it really depends what youre comparing anything to, the rain can be beautiful compared to a tsunami, or it can be ugly compared to sunshine. The buggy is a very fun and unique vehicle, every one of my 100+ toys have pros and cons depending on what I expect from them. I love the look of this, and the design, a few guys have started racing these against much more tailored products and have gotten great results, a lot of people just slap a battery in and beat around some sand or a yard. If it is to be your only buggy, I wouldnt recommend it, but for the person who has options, this is a cool one to add to their roster
I like that thing, enjoyed your review. Thanks.
Right on
Xv01 seems more realistic making turns to me
Hi mate motor and esc was you using just brought this in the UK and fingers crossed that said it could snow fingers crossed 🤞😅😂
Axial 35 turn motor and hobbywing 1060esc, i recommend a fan unit on the motor (its an inefficient brushed motor)
Very good video and hello from Arizona. I am picking one up next month. 😊😊
Welcome to the club!
That was my first nitro car I still have it along with a spear car for parts
Nostalgia!
If interested i probly have parts you need let me know
I have a tamiya xv 02 pro and if i want to do something like this the ballscrew rips out the rear upright. I have too much grip maybe. Fortunately speare parts are cheap
Yikes! Try it with some less grippy tires and let me know how it goes
I’m 45 now and I had a midnight pumpkin when I was a kid, My brother has just got me a midnight pumpkin “black edition” for Christmas, it took me all the way back to when I was a kid, I can’t wait to start the build 🎉
Awesome brother! Thanks for sharing
how did you pop off the tie rod?
I think needle nosed pliers
Love this. Very interesting
Glad you think so!
I also had a tyco Harley Davidson and the Jeremy McGrath dirt bike and the bad thing about it was the flex battery and it took 2 wks for Walmart to get it back on the shelf
Whar a trip down memory lane I had a grey one I absolutely loved it . I use to set mine in loos dirt and do the donuts and make mini dirt storm lol
Those were the days!
vintage rc cars complete with boxes and manuals are like real-world time machines for me. when you open one, seeing all the little stickers, the box, the car, the radio everything takes me back down memory lanes when i used to frequent many shopping malls and seeing all those rc toys on the shelves.
this is a great video thanks
Glad you liked it!
I had one. Swear the battery lasted 10 minutes and took 4 hours to charge lol
🤣
B B X = POS!
Lol
This was better explained than 20min spend on googling. Thank you good sir.
Glad it was helpful!
I have mine with the Porsche body still runs great! thinking about updating a few things and making a drift build
That body is a gem!
Finishing building mine. My first build. I put in a gear differential & slipper clutch
Gear differential highly recommended, good move 👌. How do you like the drive so far, for a first build youre getting to see first hand the unique quirkiness of Tamiya
Nice. So the RR body fit nicely into DT-02. Plan to build it myself
Like a glove! With the wide track it handles like a modern day buggy also
Hey man what shocks are those? Are they from a tamiya kit? They look like the friction shocks that come with the kit but you mention they are oil filled. Would like those for my mf01x
They are tamiyas super mini cva set, very reasonable pricing at the moment
@rexrcs thank you kind sage 🙏 😊
the wheels could look better with a transparent dark tint and little coper (could be metallic purple or blueish tint ) very transparent. for a realistic bolted wheels look.
Great idea!
If i have to use tamiya tires, what would it be best? Thanks for sharing
hi and thanks for popping in, It would depend on the grip level of your track and how the car performs currently, if youre limited to Tamiya brand only, the 60D soft compound would work well for more grip, if you start to traction roll and cannot tune it out I’d try the standard grip tires that allow some slip. What is the surface you are running on?
@rexrcs we are running on carpet also. Its a tamiya shop so we must use the brand. Im using soft reinforeced 24mm tires on medium inserts on my TT02 and it Works fine. Ive seen friends got so frustrated on their M08 and I will try to recomend them your set up and might as well get one!
Thanks for this video! Now i will buy one and see how it drives compare to my FF01!
Have fun and tell Me what you think after you try it
@rexrcs So i have tried it finally. I must say that rear axle is very sensitive to toe adjustments. If it is not equally adjusted, then the car doesn't drive on a straight line. For a proper drive, I would need a ball diff like my FF01. But i have enjoyed and i am happy with the car. You can see the specs and how it drives in this video that I have made: ua-cam.com/video/db-PAPIFViU/v-deo.htmlsi=rVRzelRE7AdD344f
Hi mate. Just got mine a week ago. Is it possible to upgrade controller to flysky? I want to have fine movements in the boom and stick
I believe you could, if flysky has an 10-13 channel system (dual stick radio is best) , you could essentially make it work with a bit of soldering new connectors for the receiver
Excellent instructive video, I really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I find when it comes to Tamiya 1:10th I always stick with 2s batteries because if I go with 3s, the chances of breaking something mulitplies substanially. 2s seems to be the sweet spot for it and it can also come down to how you drive the thing, your setup and the type of track you're on. It all just comes down to experience imo. Some people drive them real hard too or just like to make them go as fast as possible but in all honesty you don't need to drive them like that to have fun with them. But in saying that Tamiya aren't known for durability. You kinda have to baby them abit and it didn't seem like you were driving it that hard either. In regards to understeer. Being a ass heavy RWD, your always going to have understeer with the thing to some degree. You'll be able to tweak it here and there to help with the issue but it'll always have the issue and I think it just adds to the character of the vehicle. It's more of a fun bash about rc than a serious racer anyways. I'd just adjust your driving style to suite.
Good point!
Hi Rex, nice video 👍🤙 Which gearing balance do you use ? Seems to be middle or rear ???
In this video I used the 50/50 without any bias
Music used? please tell me it's not in the description :(
I dont remember, I think it was a stock track from Splice video editor
pinion mesh too tight?????
Mesh was fine, it hasnt made any noise since leading me to believe it may have been small bits of dirt
How can this guy afford to give way subscriptions for free brah?
Was hoping for more subscriptions if it was free lol
@@rexrcs is this just for like bragging rights or something brah? 🤷
@@juansaladzar as a kid I loved when we had show and tell in early grades of school, I got to see and learn about things other people enjoyed, rc youtube is very similar, get to see different rc’s and their opinions
The “British Racing Green” paint job ROCKS!! 👍🏻👍🏻
This brings back so many good memories . I was 12 and had this magazine
I finally got the MRC front so I can build something similar to your masterpiece.
I snapped the lower arms fairly quickly and replaced them with the aluminum yeah racing drift lower arms, just a warning lol. I used a gyro in this build
Great Vid
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Did that servo hold up well? Also, any install issues with it at all?
Servo still holding up well, I’ve used it in many builds and havent found an issue yet. Be careful though, when some servos get popular, replicas start getting produced and I have found replicas of the red servos that are famous and some dont re center after a bit of use
@rexrcs well I ordered the one that matched the one in your link, so we'll see how it goes. Better than paying 100$+ for the name brand stuff..
I love you channel and this rwd tt-02 project. Would you prefere this rwd tt-02 over your bt-01 in front-engine/rwd spec?
I think the BT-01 has a better chassis balance than my custom TT-02 however the TT-02 although has slop, there is less than the BT-01. For simplicity sake, I would choose the TT-02 rwd at this time
Hey Man I've been looking at this thing for a couple of weeks and thanks to your very informative video I will go ahead and buy it, Excellent content Cheers.
Glad I could help, and I hope you have a lot of fun with this unique model from Tamiya
I bought the Dancing Rider some time ago and made the Wayne Gardner pension spec racer to go long with my original Kyosho NSR500. It's running a cheapo brushless combo and will wheelie nicely! A bit bonkers really. Fun on the track though. I also picked up the Tamico limited version but not built that. Then yesterday.. I was weak and found a Dual Rider at my local shop. I'll switch the brushless setup into this Dual Rider and make a bit of a mad thing from it. it's a shame they are now discontinued but I guess just a bit whacky for the majority of the Tamiya people.
love this format with work being done in the background with a history lesson voiceover
