    Sad story, Wollek getting taken out on his bicycle after surviving this crash. For those who are interested, we have this crashed Chapman chassis and are currently restoring it in the UK with Trevor Crisp at Katana LTD.

      No, I'm really interested. I guess eventually when the ACO sort of decided, no more 962s - There are now plenty of spare parts. I was a Derek Bell/ Al Holbert fan. Do you still have it... Tough tough awesome racecars.
      Was this where Bob got killed? After surviving this crash to die in a car-vs-bicycle wreck, was certainly not expected. I misremembered and thought he died at Sebring. Like Nicky Hayden who was struck by a vehicle while he was riding his bike in Italy. I thought I remembered he died at the IOM TT week.

    I'm hearing a "ting" sound every time he gets off the throttle, is that the blow off valve? it's almost comical lmao

    Pathetic how an onboard video from 1987 is Miles better than the ones we have now...

      Too often feels like nowadays the goal is to NOT show the steering wheel properly. Maybe the cockpits are bit more crampled and the cameras can't be placed freely just anywhere, but still ffs.
      On the other hand, the steering wheel movement in most modern top level race cars does look pretty boring and uninspiring even when pushing hard, so maybe it is better to not see it, that at least we can keep some kind of a fantasy that it still looks as aggressive at it does for example in this video. :D

      The problem is its totally possible if not easier today. For proof look at all of the brilliant onboard videos by the RACER youtube channel. Its just for whatever reason they choose not to use good camera views in todays broadcasts. Its a shame really.

      Brandon Ryan RACER posts awesome onboards, but tbh those are not from live broadcasts. GoPro cameras are everywhere nowadays, but they're not going to cut it for a live tv.

      +deggis4 i know these are go-pros, but the texhnology exists to have camereas like this on the live video broadcasts. Just look at the old champcar races with the camera inside the helmet of Paul Tracy. The technology is there. Its just not utilized.

      See my response to Wayne R Dempsey above, I remember it being Sebring too. We're right in 2001, For a minute I thought it was the Mandella Effect. Not sure you expected a reply after 11 years :}
