cracking video collin chatting away with facts and the jokes thrown in and sean with that look of oh crod,,brilliant ,what a fantastic day you had ,collin your imagination is natural its that rare thing where the boy that is in all of us unless your a women then its a girl ,,but that kid is pushed out by life but a few lucky ones keep it and every now and then the boy collin comes out to revisit old times gone ,so perfect for writing books because you can tap into little collin for imagination its a rare thing to have that mix of boy and the man ,and with it come dark times as the boy has to deal with hard stuff and vice versa but it is a great thing for any adult to have kept the young you inside,,lots of writers are like that ,its a gift,,and priceless,,keep that imagination going never let life take it away,,sean i still laugh at william shatner from stratford,,till next time on cut the intrepid trio find themselves in ,,till next time,,cheers,

Hi guys . Where you started on this episode brought a tear to my eye. It was the very place my wife and I passed through on our honeymoon on the Oxford canal 52 years ago. I have a photo of Hilary, my missus, here, who died from breast cancer in 2015 , steering the grotty boat (we hired from Willow Wren cruisers), north of this lift bridge. The boat was an ex-Norfolk broads cruiser which had seen better days over the season and was battered and worn beyond belief, with it's engine, which was within the cabin, and stinking of petrol. The roof leaked and the cutlery and crockery was horrible and badly washed and greasy. The "facilities" were in the bow section and to sit on the pump out toilet (which discharged directly into the canal, this being 1968!) required lifting a deck hatch above with your head exposed, a feature which was 'interesting" to any gongoozler looking over a bridge parapet! On arrival at Oxford, we were so teed off with the situation we left the boat and looked for an hotel to get a good night's sleep. We tried a decent hotel, the Crown and Mitre, in the town but were told that there were no vacancies (probably due to our appearance) so ended up in a third rate commercial place after a meal of fish and sprouts (uh!) in their so-called restaurant. Despite this unsavoury start to married life we stayed together for 47 years! I have a photo of this lift bridge and the occasion, but cannot forward it as I don't see any way of adding this. Happy days!! We spent some subsequent happy times on the canals in vessels of a much higher specification!!

Nostalgic viewing whilst sitting in lockdown in rural East Sussex - Our narrowboat was moored for 5 years at Cropredy. Almost recognised every blade of grass on your journey from Fenny Compton.

When I lived in Bicester my friend, Sgt Karen West lived in Cropredy. Several musicians lived near here; members of Jethro Tull, Penny Farthing, members of Sandy Denny's band amongst others. She said there was always music in the village on the weekend.

I'm sitting here struggling to come up with words...I have so thoroughly enjoyed and been inspired by all your vlogs. I have laughed with you, and cried with you. As a child I struggled in school. OCD and ADHD, were terms that did not exist when I was a child. Almost terminal shyness, that teachers and other kids did not understand, and so hard to make friends. It didn't help that I was reading at the level of children six to seven years older. At a University, I struggled with self doubt, depression, and a meltdown, and came home to a mother who did the best she could to support me, but a father who just couldn't understand. There were several attempts at returning to college in my twenties, but I would self destruct. I worked in a grocery store and my fix back then was to get a different car, or motorbike, and I would be Ok for a while. I finally went back to school in my forties and got a degree. I was in the Honor Society, and multiple times on the Presidents Honor Roll, but the self doubt and depression was Hell, because in my mind, I wasn't worthy, I didn't work hard enough for these grades. I had started taking medication but the side effects of some drugs can be debilitating, so I stopped. I have been working at that college for over twenty years now. I still sometimes struggle with depression but having someone in my life to hold onto gives me the hope that I need to carry on. I think Silver Fox is beautiful. Take care of her, and hold on to each other.

You posted your What3words location and I looked it up. In the process, What3words also showed suggested locations that have a similar spelling. You were at clearcut.probably.human and the app suggested clearcut.improbably.human, which is about 50 miles from me, here in Wisconsin, USA. Unfortunately, we have no canals here...

Is there some kind of bumpers or even wheels to prevent damage to the boat if you do bump the sides of the canal on occasion either in those really tight passages or when you simply make a mistake?
Yes, called rubbing strakes. Boats have a few wrapped around the steel hull to take the knocks 👍🏻

Hope the leg is better after your hospital visit Colin. Usually it's worst though after the doctors had had a prod and a pull at stuff.
Interesting the CRT guy asked you to leave the gates open as the bywashes normally take care of refilling the pounds. With the gates open there's nothing to set the level of the pounds.
We just follow the instructions given to us 👊🏻

You should try some supplements for him. Try Cosequin, it is supposed to help with joint health. I have heard it works.

Lovelly seeing my old haunts from eons ago ,we used to go fishing in the canal at Watford as kids at the end of the war , and the mention of Hunton Bridge . Used to cycle past the Ovalteen Dairy farm on my way to work & back .
