    The alternate color looks much better than I expected. I got the Maersk set when it was still new in stores. I always wanted more containers, but back then pieces were very expensive. I kinda forgot to make more until now. I’m very excited, but my wallet is crying more than ever :D

    I never had the Maersk set but i did have the BNSF GP-38 and this vid is making ne miss it and the rest of my lego trains. Still mad at my parents for throwing away my childhood collection like it was nothing

      Not at this time. I have some interest in the set but not the funds. As for the channel I'd be so far behind all the LAN members who got the set early for review I doubt I'd get much traction on the videos. No shade to them, they work really hard to do what they do. Personally I don't have any intention of working with Lego directly, I just make the videos I want to make. I think Racing Brick did an excellent job with his videos on the set, I haven't watched many others

      I really do want to start modeling real locomotives at some point. I feel like I have a ways to go before that. I do have more locomotives on the way based on the Maersk locomotive. I've found decals for Union Pacific and Conrail and have a lot of the parts already

    I did also make this set with bricklink parts and did order the stickers from same place as you. They did not have dark azure stickers then so I did choose medium azure. But I can see now that dark azure is much nicer, maybe I will change color at some point.

    • @BatteryPoweredBricks

      I'm really glad I asked them about adding dark azure, they added them very quickly to the store, I really didn't expect that. Medium azure was a close second for me

    Great job. Thank you for sharing! Small addition, that you have used a few old parts in your Studio model, which are already exchanged by TLG, like jumper plates, modified tiles (e.g.30350b>30350c). But again, very great stuff. I definitely will use up your model to build a 2nd or even a 3rd engine beside the original one.

    • @BatteryPoweredBricks

      I think in that case I was seeing absolutely insane prices on the newest jumper plate variant. Kind of funny they are on my Lego store's PAB wall now (I'm rich!)😅. I didn't know about the 30350c though!

      That is a switch machine by Novakasa for Trixbrix switch tracks. I did end up adding the link the description after someone else asked about it. I do plan on making a video about it soon. For now I have 2 other videos about controlling Lego switch tracks remotely

      That's definitely something I've tried to be transparent about from the beginning. I've actually made very few MOCs of my own, most are largely very derivative of other's work. When I start work on a project I make a txt file and put links to sources or anything that inspired it as I go. Thanks for the kind words, it really makes it all worth it 👍

      The link is there, it's a UA-cam link to Masao Hidaka's channel. It is powered, the PU hub takes up most of the space inside the cab. Have you posted a link to your switcher anywhere? I don't think I've seen it

      No they should be shared publicly. I was able to download them from an incognito browser without any issue. After clicking the link are you clicking the download button on the top right? One thing you could do with the small switcher is do a cow and calf setup. Keep the switcher as is, and add a second one, but do it without the cab. So would be the PU motor and some bricks to hide it, but keep it low so the engineer can see over it. Then it would be "bigger", but still have two motors.

      I copied and pasted them from someone's build I found on ReBrickable. They aren't perfect be any means and don't show up as an actual part. The connections don't work great either. Finally figured out studio and changing color and getting the wanted list into bricklink hoping the price was lower. Sadly looks to be around $200+. Considering just saving up and buying the actual Maersk set or buying two of the 60052 sets.

    • @BatteryPoweredBricks

    • @BatteryPoweredBricks
      @BatteryPoweredBricks  2 місяці тому

      Is that just for the locomotive or is that with a couple wagons? Also is that the estimate from Studio or from actual carts in Bricklink including shipping? New parts or used parts? There are a ton of details for saving money, I really tried to cover as many as I could in the video. One thing that helps a ton is to use any pieces you can from your collection. Just taking a single part off the wanted list can open up new stores with better prices. Again I have no way to give a price estimate whatsoever. In my case I had lots of parts on hand and I also wanted 3 locomotives, 10 wagons and a couple dozen containers (also two trucks in a later video). I ordered a lot of the parts in bulk like the train specific parts as some stores wildly overcharge for them. I wish it were easier to give straight answers to your questions, I get asked them a lot but there really aren't any simple answers.

    I stopped buying and collecting legos in about 2012ish. This Maersk train (the locomotive and containers) are all that remains and they are displayed on my shelf in my office. Its not 100% original, as I modified it to look like a GP38-2 as far as the fan arrangement goes.
