I found a few interesting tips in this video. Thanks for making it! In the future, please allow someone you are visiting or interviewing to talk without interrupting them. At many points in this video, I felt like Frank was about to say something interesting and you kept cutting him off with your own summary of what he was doing, or to say "yeah", or "uh huh" too much. Thanks.
The world needs more guys like Frank!! I just recently bought a jade and after hearing this made plenty of rookie moves with it but I think it will pull through!! Here’s hoping!!
I really appreciate this video. Really like Jade Bonsai but usually i have problems with finding knowledge about it. Would appreciate if there will be some more videos about this with some more advanced tehniques and knowledge.
What a sweet insightful man ...got lots of great tips thank you too! I normally kill plants but these jade cuttings I made are growing so well ...excited to see if I can make them look good! But waiting for it to cork may take 40 years! Fingers crossed
Don't suppose you know where to get a Jade Tree in Thailand. I am just beginning my bonzai efforts and usually have to have my brother send things to me here that I buy off Amazon, such as tools, pots, etc. Would really like to know if there is a good high quality bonzai supply shop here. A shop that includes different types of plants. Most of the nursery's here have the same type trees and I would like to have a variety of plants / trees.
I have always wondered how they get the trunk so round. I've had my plant now for 6 years it still does well but the trunk stay small and skinny maybe I should go to a bigger pot?
im so getting one of these when you have them back in stock.. we only get little "sale" rack type jade plants here (east coast) i found a place in the desert sw with 4 foot tall ports but idk about that shipping.. id wayyyy rather have one from frank.. he needs his own yt channel! you rock frank! thankys
So bassicly the soil he is using is cacti soil with perlite? Would this be different for an inside jade? I have a crussala but theyre also succulents so...?

Hello, nice vid!! I really like the cork jade, but you cant buy it in my country(netherlands) is the cork jade the same as the normal dwarfjade? Here they sell only the portulacaria afra...
Jason are these the same as Portulacaria Afra. Also if you can provide info on when and where exactly, the show is in October. Thanks again for all the wonderful videos.
This species of Jade was actually originated by Frank Yee. It is a Portulacaria Afra but with corking qualities hence the name Portulacaria afra 'Frank'. Glad the video was helpful! The convention will be in Riverside, California this year. Visit www.gsbfbonsai.org for more details.
Eastern Leaf sells Cork Jades. Not sure if they ship to CAN tho. If you are desperate, there is Ebay. Just to get started, there are many jade varieties in my local Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes, here in NY, US. Just note that the jades require more care in colder zones.
Hi Franc, it would depend on when after repotting. However, I usually like to wire before repotting so I can get the position of the tree perfect for the pot. Hope this helps, Jason.
Theres things floating around sayi g how he created the cork jade was he used DDT and after he thought it killed some of his jades he ended up finding them still alive
@@ofthedawn > If you google "Frank Yee" some videos come up. Also the Cork Bark Portulacaria Afra that Frank has is it's own variety. I recently found some on eBay from a seller in Florida. This listing contains 9 different portulacaria cuttings but since I only wanted the Cork Bark I asked him if he would make a special order for me which he did. Hopefully I'll live long enough to see them start corking!
@@pearlpolanski I didn't know there were different ones. One of mine seems to be corking. I got it at Lowe's. I thought it had been watered to much but liked the shape of it.
I just got some cuttings that were originally from Frank's trees! Very exciting and I'm looking forward to developing them!
instablaster.
Any updates on these cuttings? Would love to see the 3 year update!
@@user-nc8se9in8o They are growing well, an update will be coming!!

I'm not Jason, but I'm pretty sure it is Portulacaria Afra, also know as Baby Jade. Normal Jade is Crassula Ovata and has larger leaves.

Cork jade? Normal jade? Afro jade? Can you explain or are you just repeating what you hear?
They like to flower in low humidity places; too much humidity, and they won't want to flower.

Se continuo così avrò lo stesso suo numero di piante.. la PA è come le ciliegie “una tira l’altra “ 😜
Wow if it takes that long to create bonzai I don't have that much time left to finish 1
Well, Frank Yee and Judas Priest they were the best of friends...
