What I am about to say is a major accomplishment. I like your videos. I am a mean, old, guy with PTSD from the service who has zero tolerance for nonsense. But you I like. I got a new house and found, sprinkled in the yard, beautiful old elephant bush. I have got them into good soil and a couple are thick trunked and look great. You are my mentor, even though you are younger than my kids. Rock on
Thanks man.... Great vibes... Just what I needed to "get the concept" of what the heck I was gonna do with this overgrown porch plant.... Have had it 4 years from a 2in pup cup... Every year, mid summer in Cali this and my variegated rainbow go nuts... Sooooo leggy ... I'm gonna sub for the personal relationship with your plants alone... I want that! I'm totally in a Stevie Knicks mood right now, so ... I'm gonna spend some needed QT with these guys... Slow ride ... Take it easy ... Doumo arigatou 🙏
Wondering if you can do in instructional video on how to get the top of the roots to get so thick and sit above the soil line. It is one of my favorite parts about your trees! Thanks for the awesome videos!
it's absolutely beautiful! I love portulacaria afras! I have about 8 of them I'm training as bonsai myself and I love them! They're easy to care for and fun.
I really love your channel! And this is just about the most beautiful little jade bonsai I have ever seen, and I’ve seen a bunch of them! Thank you for sharing this
A beautiful tree, and no wonder it is, with the way you care for them so well. You're really convincing me to grow some of these as bonsai - I've got quite a few, just in pots, not trimmed, so I guess I'll have to change that next spring! Best wishes from Australia
Stunning, I love watching your videos If you can please do us a video about root over rock I would love to know more tips about it. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful work there! Do you grow your branches out first without trimming to get the branch thickness, as you do with other bonsai species, or does the constant trimming add the required girth to the branches? Love your vids. Thanks for the effort in making them.
Awesome video and channel. But what do I do with my brand new Jade, like how do I establish that big center trunk with isolated leaf clusters on top/ far from the trunk? I hope i articulated that well; I'm new at all this!
I was told when the tree is ready to be repotted, using a pot that is slightly smaller than what you would normally use and leaving a part of the roots unburied is how you get that look.
I believe, you can slowly rake the base of the tree to expose a little bit of roots, wait until they harden then do the same to expose more roots. You would have to do this over time and eventually you would have what you see in the video
Great video: How do you get rid of Aphids on your jades, I us dawn dish soap on my regular trees and it Works great but I do not dare to us it on my jade bonsai it burns the leaves right off, so I was just curious on what you us
It would be great if you could do a video on common problems and ways to identify issues with these. I have a a few that are starting to develop brown spots on their leaves and i cant seem to find any reliable information on what is causing it
I had something similar and diluted epson salt unscented and watered. One tablespoon to one gallon of water. Apply Once a month. Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the soil every once in a while. It helps with pest and is a antifungal agent. Hope this helps you. Takes a couple weeks before you notice new green growth.
I'm fairly new to the hobby I live in the midwest my jade stays inside this time of year.. would you recommend trimming late fall early winter? Right now we are averaging in the low 50s in the day and 30s at night probably not a huge concern since they stay inside this time of year square foot. You also mentioned you fertilize a lot is that recommended in the winter and what's a decent fertilizer for Jade's
I have a 30 yr old plant in my yard , it was a cutting from my grandmothers yard when I was a kid. What’s the best way to take a bonsai from it? I’d love to take advantage of the plants age
Take a big cutting. Find a branch you like and start pruning it to shape. Then when you have the trunk and main branches cut it a little lower than you want the roots to come from. This is the process I use for airlayering.
What do you use as pest control for these? Moving to an area where I'll have to winter indoors. And I don't want to harm them more than the outside bugs
All the shots through the different years were super cool and helped me feel hope for mine!

Could you make a repot video?
Grts
Kennet
Any tip on how to get those lovely surface roots?😁

Do you ever trunk chop for taper?
yess I've been wondering this same thing
I remove large lower branches to create taper often.
Love your videos 😊 I struggle with forming the shapes. I'm trying tho😆
Hopefully they understand their haircuts 😅 I believe this would be a Bob Ross approved happy tree 👌 beautiful work, as always
Mantap bro..👍
How do you make your portulacaria shiny? 😍
Great video: How do you get rid of Aphids on your jades, I us dawn dish soap on my regular trees and it Works great but I do not dare to us it on my jade bonsai it burns the leaves right off, so I was just curious on what you us
I use BioAdvanced All In One Rose & Flower Care spray. This works great without burning the leaves like insecticidal soap.
Try baking soda with water....1l : 10ml
@@LittleJadeBonsai is it using the active ingredient pyrethrin?
What do you mean by fertilize heavy and how?

How often do you fertilize?
Every two weeks with liquid miracle gro and new osmocote every month.
Full strength miracle grow? Just sprinkle osmocote on the top of the soil or rake it in? Thanks for the great videos!
I have a bunch of cuttings from my portulacaria and I would like to know when it’s safe to wire them and trim them
I'm fairly new to the hobby I live in the midwest my jade stays inside this time of year.. would you recommend trimming late fall early winter? You also mentioned you fertilize a lot is that recommended in the winter and what's a decent fertilizer for Jade's
If i want new to develop new plants from cuttings do i only have to put them into soil
What fertilise do you use and what pot will you use next
Super 👌👍

Cool
What do you use as pest control for these? Moving to an area where I'll have to winter indoors. And I don't want to harm them more than the outside bugs
If I wanted to get rid of all that root mumbo jumbo, could i just cut at the base of the trunk, let dry, and repot as if it were a cutting? Thank you
What happens when you are trimming to the last two and they are in vertical position do you cut it or go to the next parallel👍👍
When you’ve got several pads on a port and a rounded top, do you let one branch become a leader to take it to a next level?
how often you trim the jades
What fertilizer do you use on your jade?
Osmocote and Liquid Miracle Gro
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Como traduzir o seu vídeo para o português?

whats the temp. range of portulacaria afra? when cant it get outside?
As long as it's above freezing it can survive happily outside. They thrive in hot temps.
