      Ben, Current FB standard set up is to now to deduplicate, but still double count primary conversion number shown on event manager page. You have to select on event details to see individual breakdown of which is CAPI and which is pixel and how well they match. No deduplication error shows, they recognize both, realize they are duplicates but still double count them on events manager. It does not filter through as double counted on ads manager/campaigns so will not cause algo issues. This was done for what i suspect were optics purposes post ios

      also another major way many people end up with duplicate events is when they set up pixel manually, but then also through a partner, such as shopify or woo commerce.

    Can you do a video on how detailed targeting expansion is now required and no longer optional? Seems FB wants to force you to pay for low quality unqualified leads.

    Hi Ben, thanks for this, was struggling with this with one of my clients, and I think on my end, it's a mix of the natural gap between the two, and I think, a mis-execution of the API/Pixel which isn't effectively resolving the deduplication issue. Thanks for the support.

    @Ben, i see 2 more purchases in my fb ad manager than in my store. Everything is from the browser, so it's not a deduplication . I started the campaign a 10 days ago and i see 8 purchases instead of 6.This must be 25%.Is it ok to ignore or i must fix it?The 2 more purchases that i see is on my testing campaign

    Edited: All of a sudden this May, website leads has doubled (or overereporting) which is diff from actual website form submissions.

    ​ @Ben Heath what do you think of creating two adsets with the sam creatives and interests: one for iOS users and one for non-iOS users. I think in that case i will get correct reporting for at least non-iOS adsets and can use it for my future decision. Any thoughts?

      I understand the logic and we are testing this ourselves right now. It's not working as well as I would have hoped yet but I should have more info to report on this soon.

    Great video as always! I look at 7 day and 14-day data and optimize accordingly. I saw a 60% over reporting yesterday but it doesn't phase me because, in 14-day data, it's accurate.

    Great content @Ben Heath! I actually have the opposite problem after the iOS 14 update. Facebook is clearly under-reporting conversions, therefore AI learning is limited or highly inaccurate compared to a few months ago. I know it's under reporting as I have UTM link tracking and I see the attribution on Analytics.
    Do you recommend anything for this issue? It is becoming extremely hard to optimise campaigns and ad sets...

      Just do a search on youtube you will find many free courses dont need to read a book and do one thing start watching all videos of this channel and you get some paid stuff as well for free.

      @@BenHeath yes books are useful when you atleast know features of fb ads Or any software. As a newbie what will you understand even you don't know how ads manager dashboard looks like what featues are there so atleast learn basics from videos.
      That's why I suggest him to watch videos.

    Hi how do I calculate if discrepancy is higher than 20%? I have Google ads showing 27 sales and FB showing 41. I can tell by my AOV that FB is over reporting by at least 10 sales.

      Firstly, those numbers are still quite low - I'd give things more time and see if the conversion data is more aligned with another week or so. Otherwise, I'd work through the to-dos in this video.

    Really struggling with overreporting myself and have been for months now. I've tried literally everything to find a fix, but I think it's just something we have to deal with, I'm just concerned my ads aren't finding the right people because Facebook is performing on the basis that the false results are the best customers. What are your thoughts on Facebook performing in this way?

      Hi Sam, it will negatively impact your Facebook ad results but not disastrously so. Facebook is still seeing who is converting and can optimise accordingly - even if it thinks they are more valuable than they actually are.

    Hey, i have severe underreporting.
    My main concern is facebook's ability to optimize as it will spend money on a certain segment of my audience than get a few sales.
    Than facebook only reports one or so.
    Won't facebook then think that the segment they targeted didn't work that well and search for new segments?

      Significant underreporting is an issue as it will prevent Facebook optimizing properly. Have you got AEM set up and Conversions API?

    Facebook adverts are the vein of my life, every day I’m reporting 50+ 🤦‍♂️ can’t get rid of the poxy things. Funny how sellers thinking flooding your Facebook with adverts to buy their rubbish is logical…quite the opposite actually…just makes us hate you more.

    Hey Ben, thanks for the video. I've been seeing this deduplication issue for almost 3 months now. Initially, I disconnected and reconnect both pixel and CAPI but the ads are still reporting exactly double the conversion. Then after I read through the shopify forum that I should turn the data sharing from maximum to standard which I did and the issue still persist.
    Now I have completely removed CAPI for almost 2 weeks now and just solely rely on Pixel data but yet the purchase events are still duplicated.... what can I do?
    Do I need to duplicate all the campaigns and restart them? Because as I was doing all the changes above, I didn't change much on my campaigns besides refreshing the creatives.

      Similar experience here. I think an eventID is needed for proper deduplication.

      Ah that really sucks. I think at this point you are going to have to contact Facebook and work with them on it. Still seeing duplicate conversions with no CAPI installed is not right and I don't even know what could be causing that. I would be surprised if recreating the campaigns helped.

    I report every ad I see on FB as sexually inappropriate.

      @@BenHeath well it seems the majority of the ads I see are clearly scams, and most of the legit business ads are not even in my state. I'm tired of being flooded w irrelevant ads, scams, and lawn mowing services that are 5 states away. In the mean time I advertised a guitar for sale on market place and FB took it down, told me if I advertised a 'weapon' again I would be banned. Seriously.

      There are a number of solutions included in this video. Using longer time horizons to assess performance, uninstalling and reinstalling the Pixel, CAPI, etc.
