Fun fact: that gangnum style Giganto was the first (or at least one of the first) mods that were made when people figured out how to change the animations.

@@terreausore2435I mean, in this case it is realistic expectations. You can't expect a team of 50 people to pull out a game on the same spectrum as Breath of the wild. What they were able to accomplish here, considering their budget and the work that has to be done for the game to come out on all big platforms, including the Switch, at the time is really impressive

Frontiers is a breath of fresh air and in so glad to see that sonic is getting back in his feet. I also love how the first mod I saw for frontiers was making Giganto do Gangnam style. Mods are a gift from God
I gotta say, I’m a huge fan of the latest update to Antdude’s idle animation pose: rubbing hands together. Really makes you feel like Antdude, 10/10.

I REALLY want to see you try out the Freedom Planet games, Dude. They were strongly inspired by the classic Sonic games, but added their own twists to things. Unfortunately, aside from the Super Best Friends many years ago and The Completionist more recently, they've hardly received any publicity at all!

I would have to say the biggest selling point of Sonic Frontiers for me is the the story and character development; it is easily some of the best we've gotten since the Adventure era, and redeems Tails, Knuckles, and Amy (just in time since they will be playable next year)🤩
Even Dr Robotnik get some much needed character love through his relationship with Sage (aka the best new character for the franchise since Blaze)🤗
I would have loved if they handled The End better, but Ian Flynn did an AMAZING job overall 😎

The amount of Love that the devs put into this game can clearly be seen.
This isn’t the return of Sonic, but the proper evolution of the series that we’ve needed, for ages.
Reused assets are literally a common thing in EVERY game, in every franchise, so again, keep crying.
And with more coming to this game throughout 2023, this game is bound to set Sonic in a right direction. (Finally.)

The skating animation is ripped from sonic forces, and was retargeted to work onto sonic's skeleton, and the person who developed shadow frontiers, did the same thing, Heck, I was even trying to give them advice on how to do it when they were trying to figure it out. So yea, misinformation is annoying and I don't take people's work, everyone in that community knows that
Giganto smooving and grooving may be one of the best things I’ve every seen
What I like to do with the boost is turn all the gameplay sliders up (except camera), get the infinite boost and the mode thingy for the faster boost and just use the cyloop as a sort of boost trail, looks really nice imo

At 24:58 there were also some limited time items you could get in speed simulator as well as in a bunch of other games. Like how you could get the sonic skins in funky Friday, that tied in with lord X from the sonic .exe mod, yeah it's a bit weird, but we ARE living in the era of crossovers so...
The fact that the camera shaking (and the stomping sound effects) is actually synced with Gangnam Style Giganto is probably my favorite thing about the mod, other than the fact that you have to climb him while he's dancing.
I don't know why wouldn't it be, but the fact that it is is just hilarious to me.
Hear me out. Giganto, but when phase 2 starts he breakdance. With all those lasers on his back it is bound to create some challenge, right? xD
These modders have too much power. But all ranting aside, the imagination is dangerously limitless. I remember seeing a clip of 23:28 on Twitter just a day or two after it was out, all I can say was "they done it again..."

The accidentally flying off ledges actually help me out in the game a lot for example. I was trying to get to tails and I didn’t know how to get up there then I found it. A ledge. I flew away and got close to the platform tails was in and realized I could use that ledge to my advantage. It took me about 30 minutes to get up there but once I got up there I was astonished. But at the same time very happy. The ledge jumping if used correctly is very useful.

Regarding Frontiers, I remember this one UA-camr saying that Sonic Frontiers wasn't worth buying because the overworld was "too dark and gloomy" and that the only good thing was the special stages since they were colorful. He also complained about the combat system, saying that all you do is mash one button, yet he admitted that he only played about an hour of the game before making his "review", and thus, did not unlock other abilities, which use different buttons. It was honestly one of the worst videos I have ever seen.

A character who protects Eggman until the end and decides to raise Eggman himself as a daughter I never thought I would love sage so much I can't wait to see how she interacts with Eggman in future works after she gets her feelings. Could it be a cure for his stress? It's been a long time since I've enjoyed Sonic in a game; just the right amount of space; lots of nostalgic stories; and the story of the ancients and koco. I'm also looking forward to the DLC

i also love that one of the very first mods was replacing Sonic and Super Sonic with Flamedramon and Magnamon respectively. As a Digimon fan, I live for this representation.
For the Shadow Frontiers mod, theres already a better one by another user with better quality in general, although without any voicelines (there are some voice mods to correct this though)
Colors is still my #1 but that's because I'm bias. But Sonic Frontiers is the most fun I had on a 3D Sonic game for a very, VERY long time.
Usually, I have varying opinions about Antdude's takes. But here? Almost Spot-on. I love this game.
I died laughing when I saw the Koko replaced by Among Us characters.
Glad I'm not the only one that made the Cyberspace Stage/Special Stage connection, although it's wild to think of the previous games' main gameplay style as the Special Stages these days.

I actually liked how the homing attack brought your momentum to a halt in cyberspace oddly enough, it meant that just mashing the attack button wasn't optimal for speed and instead encouraged using your other movement options for those S rank times. Weird, I know.
Not gonna lie, the Gangnam style robot made me die laughing
The Tetris puzzles were actually mu favorite challenge in the game! It might be different if the other challenges were more... you know...challenging.
I love how The Super Sonic fights feel so much like an Anime Fight(specifically Dbz) bc Sonic has always had that Shonen aesthetic in the games. Definitely the best super sonic fights we’ve gotten from the games

Oh you mention the flying off the ledge thing. That happened so much at the start but then I started learning how it happened, then I start incorporating it into my movement. There was this one part on the final zone that you had to get to a far off island on these rails and a whole obstacle course for a time trial.
So I get speed and send myself flying, then barely catching a rail. I didn't make the full skip, but man was that fun. I started getting good at doing it

I think the reason why it hasn't seen a re-release yet is because there is currently some legal issues surrounding the game. According to Ian Flynn, the reason the game was left out of the Encyclo-speed-ia is because it was out of Sega's limits at the time, going further to say it was so far out of reach that it couldn't even be mentioned by name.

One idea I'm looking forward to someone doing is incorporating is more NiGHTS-like gameplay and levels. Like having the sparkle trail for the Cyloop, using the Sonic Into Dreams model, traversing a bigger version of the levels from NiGHTS. Seriously, we need more NiGHTS integration into Sonic nowadays. Along with a new (& GOOD) NiGHTS game, that would be...really nice. :')

I think the boldest thing that I liked about frontiers is how you had to grind to get materials to unlock something else to unlock something else and so on, or if you had enough purple coins, just spam fishing and you can completely skip a step through the shop
Fun thing with the cyberspace levels: 2-6, 3-1, and 4-1 are just straight up SA2 levels, specifically Sky Rail, Green Forest, and Metal Harbor.
Edit: Oh, he addressed that. Well, I found it cool at least. Sure, it’s level design recycling, but you kinda have to realize for yourself that they’re doing that. At which point it becomes more of a cool callback.
The only mod that was missing was the Hedgehog May Cry mod. It overhauls the combat and is SO COOL

You can mod this game to the ground! Like DXVK for Windows 7 sake. I hope it works for Windows 8.1 just fine cause I don't see why it shouldn't given the requirements don't necessarily involve Windows 1 specifically. Did Steam just skip 8.1 as if no one's using it. I prefer 8.1 as an upgraded Windows 7 where 10 is an alienated mess and 11 is a total disaster in every single way which Kinda makes me sad that OK-ish 10 is our only good option for 3 more years before resorting to Linux in case 12 fails. Microsoft could die from mistakes like that.

You may wanna know that some people are doing terrain trasnfer from other games into Frontiers, such as Solana from 06 and the first Unleashed level, sadly they don't really work with these physics but am sure that the modders will bundle them with custom physics if anything.

My mind is blown by this game. After this many years, they finally figured out how to do a 3D Sonic game? I’m actually addicted to it. I haven’t enjoyed a Sonic game this much since 3 & Knuckles.

The modding scene for sonic games is insane, not only were mods for frontiers being made before the game released, but a lua extensions mod has come out recently thats gonna allow for modders to expose new, custom c++ functions to the lua sequences in the game.
Now do I know what that means? Nope but apparently its gonna be a major game changer for the Frontiers modding community (pun definitly not on accident).

I honestly wish that we got something for getting 100% in the game, like a fully free-roam Green Hill Zone instead of a Cyberspace level design for it. Like, for all the 3D Sonic stages, we mostly got linear-style 3D levels, especially from SA2 and Lost World, when it comes to 3D Green Hill Zone. But to have a version of Green Hill to fully roam around in like that Green Hill Paradise fan game from a few years ago, that would be great.
I was unsure if this was a frontiers review or a mod showcase. I couldn’t tell what the angle was going into this. Probably best to break them up into separate videos or just have chapters in the video segmenting the two

sonic really feels like sega's being reflective on his history with the movies,the very underrated sonic channel material,tailstube,idw,prime(find it,origins definitely outside the cutscenes and superstars the weakest part but do love a lot of it like nines/best shadow's been since sa2/heroes and 06,fang and the hooligans return & trip being an adorable newcomer alongside arium who has bonus points for being voiced by android 21.) & even the figurines feel like a continuation of the sonic renaissance unleashed started with frontiers having similar vibes being the foundation game.
do wish sonic pocket adventure got added to the neo pocket collections (just seeing sonic,tails and knuckles with megaman,terry bogard,kyo,roll & mai shiranui just sounds as hilarious a visual as team sonic with cloud,tifa,barret,yuffie.:3)
And need I remind people that’s all the DLC coming to Frontiers is gonna be FREE? Also SEGA has stated that the Frontiers gameplay is gonna be the new style of gameplay for future installments

The pop-in is because of the Switch version. It was the first version they worked on and deliberately put in the pop-in so the Switch could run the game better, but when they worked on the other versions they forgot to change or remove that.
