What sucks is that had Madame Lancelin not changed so drastically, you'd think none of this would happen.
It's crazy....the sisters were calling her mom, everything was fine, she was standing up for them, etc. It's sad that, that changed.
Maybe she found out they had a sexual relationship...
I think she enjoyed the novelty of being their "mom" / savior for a short period of time. But that quickly wore off, & considering the strict classism of the time, she would start to feel it as an insult, as disrespect, & if they got too comfortable & familiar with her & forgot to "yes ma'am" & avert eyes, she would have felt the need to put them firmly back in their place
It could also be that because she was already old she was having some disease that made her lash out, idk

This condition occurs when a small group, or a pair become isolated from society and the outside world, and lead an intense inward lifestyle which leads them to become paranoid of everything outside of their own life.
You should do cases that are solved and call them Solved Sunday’s or Solved Saturday’s

As much as what they done is messed up I kinda feel bad for the sisters, sounds like their life's were a living hell from the start.

I thought that after when they said they would stand up for themselves if another situation occurs, they would just yell out their concerns, and leave. I didn't think they would escalate it to what they actually did.

From what I have heard the madame’s husband was aware of the abuse and didn’t say anything. If he had and stood up to his wife, things would most likely have gone differently and the household would continue in a pleasant manner.

Same here, I do feel sympathy towards them, however crazy it sounds. They were really dealt a bad hand in life and must have met tons of evil people, and Madame Lancelin was one of them. Probably her husband as well

I follow a bunch of different youtubers who post about mysteries and things and a lot of them have the same videos. It's really about following the people who tell the story respectfully which I believe Bella does.
Oliva escoto well, it’s the same story.. it’s pretty impossible for someone to tell the very same story and stay true to the details but tell it in a very different way... bella reads a lot about the story and is very true to the details because she wants us to know every single thing that happened there. And if someone else tries to tell the same story, it’s obviously gonna sound similar BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME STORY!!!

I can't give out too much info but when I was in training as a hypnotherapist I met a client who was in love with his older brother since he was 12 and almost a decade later his brother like "let his guard down" and they were in a sexual relationship for 3 years before his brother went off to another country to study, found a girl and settled down. This bro had his heart broke and came in for therapy. There were also 2 sisters like 14 and 16 (not my batch) who were forced into therapy because their parents found them in bed. It's common because there is some kind of "DNA calling" that's supposed to keep the pack together but some people take it too far.

I just finished listening to this being covered on My Favourite Murder, so it’s nice to have the visuals to accompany the story with this video!
The more I think about it, the more I wonder if Mrs Lancelin was suffering from some form of mental illness. When Christine and Lèa were first employed by the family, Christine and Lèa were treated very well. However if Madame Lancelin's mental health was deteriorating then it is entirely possible that her behaviour was becoming worse and she was treating the girls brutally. Many, many people have been known to snap after years of abuse and attack their abusers. This is, of course, only my theory on it.
Definitely gruesome, but I love historical mysteries and hope you do more!
