Jacks Small Engines - This Business Should NOT Be On Amazon.com. AVOID! My Experience With Them

- After my Champion Generator failed within a year I decided to buy a Honda. Checked Amazon.com and ordered one from Jacks Small Engines. This was a big mistake as this company has no business even operating let alone selling on Amazon. A horrible waste of my time and a potential risk to my livelihood since I need a generator to make sure I'm powered up to work.

Two things:
Why did you accept delivery for that parcel if it was so obviously damaged?
Looks like that supplier is sending out returns and selling them as new.
I took it home and looked at it simply because I needed the generator. Didn’t know it was actually damaged until I opened it. In hindsight, yes I should’ve just sent it back but with a 3rd party mail receiving company I would have had to pay for the return shipping right then too, instead of getting the proper refund process through Amazon.
Most of the time the delivery service just leaves the package on the porch and leaves, you don't have that option not to accept the delivery.
Never bought a generator from them, but have bought many parts from them and have never had a problem with them or the parts.
thank you I will never order from that company where the hell is the original box it comes with tons of padding
Yeah. I reviewed the the place I used for the replacement and they did great. Video tomorrow. 🙂
I've never been able to buy anything from them because every time I tried a lookup, my equipment was too old. They only sell parts for new stuff. If your equipment is new you don't need parts. I bought my Honda EM500SX generator from a local dealer in 1987 and it still operates like new. The steel tank rusted out and I purchased a new tank 10 years ago.
That's really unfortunate. For a long time, Jack's was my go-to supplier for Honda parts, and their prices, availability and customer service were excellent. I haven't had a need to order from them since they were bought out by Northern Tool. Lucky for me, NT just opened a retail outlet near my home, so anything I need is just a short drive and delivery is unnecessary.
That looks like the boxes Amazon shipped and had delivered by UPS when I lived in Kansas in the country. But a lot of Amazon boxes come that way.
This one definitely wasn't an Amazon box. No logo or Amazon tape. It came from Jacks and they even went as far as to blame FedEx. It should have come in the proper Honda box. My next video, coming out tonight shows how it should have been.
I bought a lot of stuff from Jacks Small Engines over the years without any issues I'm not sure what happened after the takeover
Well whatever it is it's ruining their business.
While searching for some parts, I came across JSE. I know they sell on Amazon. Their website just looked sketchy, in appearance and the way it worked. They had some parts I needed but after reading a few reviews, I crossed them off my seller list. Glad i did.
Thanks for the vid. I know Honda would never use a box like that, they have to much pride in their product. I wonder if it was a return from someone else and JSE was trying to unload it on you.
My next video is a 5 star review of where I ended up getting it from and they were great. 100 percent as it should be.
Boy, based on what I see here it looks pretty bad, but I have been buying from Jacks for over 15 years (direct from their website, not thru Amazon) and they have always been great for small engine parts. They have great documentation online to help find the right parts. I never considered buying big stuff from them. I'll also mention that that box looks like it was brutalized by Canada customs ......
Hey Jeff, The box didn't have to go through customs at all. I'm snowbirding in Quartzsite AZ, I believe it came from the east coast area. Which, when you factor in that there was NO packing whatsoever it makes me wonder what idiot shipped it that far thinking it would arrive in good condition.
Years ago Jack's was private....now bought out and not a fun time.
They sold a refrubished/ returned item. Should have came in the honda box.
I agree. The one I'm running right now did, that video is coming out tonight as they did it right!
I bought a Briggs engine from JSE and had no problems.
When reading the rest of the comments. I learned at looked up. Jack's was bought by Northern Tool. That's enough for me not to order from Jack's anymore.
Thanks for your video!
Thanks for watching.
Amazon marketplace will ship you a turd and expect a 5-star review.
Jacks used to be a small independent company. Northern Tool bought them in 2021.
EVERYONE READ THIS: That is VERY interesting. I did not add this to my original comment, BUT over 10 years ago I purchased my first generator. I wanted a HONDA I shopped around on mail order and found Northern Tool had them for the best price even though I was in California they would ship it and it was still a better deal. My little HONDA 1000 arrived EXACTLY like your 2200i only mine was made of metal and all corners were dented in and the top area was crushed. I was out of my mind with anger as that was a TON of money for me back then and I could not believe it was not in the original HONDA box. Northern argued with me about the abuse from the Shipper and then wanted to send me parts for me to repair my brand new generator (which they did not have in stock). EVENTUALLY after much stress and argument I had to safely re-box the HONDA (more work on my part) and send it back. The whole process took about a month before I received my refund from Northern. I think it was then and must be now that they save money on shipping by removing the small generators from there original Factory (Safe) boxes and then send them far away hoping it will be so much hassle for the recipient they will just accept the trash or will repair the trashed generator or they will be successful in convincing the recipient it is the Shipper to blame and pawn their responsibility off and wipe their dirty hands free and clean of their problem. If it really is Northern, they have been abusing their customers for over a decade in the exact same way.
We all need to know if it is "Jacks" or if it really Northern Tool.
Wow Got to wonder what kind of business has such little regard for their customers and reputation that they would just toss an expensive generator in an oversized cheap cardboard box and call it good, not to mention the shipping company that accepted it. Amazon can be a awkward to deal with but once you start a return claim they usually get it right. Good to see you doing regular videos again.
Amazon had my back but no one ever considers the time and inconvenience this type of BS brings. Let alone the the extended time without a generator because of it.
I’ve received a couple of packages from Menards that were packed like this. It literally looked like they threw the item in the shipping box, put a token amount of packing material and sent it. I don’t order items, through the mail, from Menards anymore.
I have been a long time customer of Jack's. But I have always ordered direct from Jack's online. Not off Amazon! Never an issue with them that way. The boxing has all the ear marks of Amazon packaging from one of their warehouses.
The package came from Jack's. Jacks is the seller, they responded and blamed the damage on FedEx which you can clearly see that it wasn't packaged properly at all. My video tonight shows how it should have been.
I ordered a echo trimmer said it was a 30.5cc motor so it should have been a SRM 3020 or a SRM3020T I received a SRM230T which is a 21.2cc motor and a $289.99 I paid way more then that ain't that happy at this time
I have shopped at jacks for lawn and tractor parts they have always met my expectations
Lucky you. I’ll never order anything again from them.
@@Wayneontheroad If Jack's doesn't do something for you please let us know. I know amazon made it right, but you are correct to be unhappy as the BS involved is overwhelming. Let us know as I will take Jack's off my list. I have been dealing with them for over a decade.
@@benkanobe7500 Hey Ben. I got my refund, quite possibly because my purchase WAS through Amazon. Jacks’s hasn’t offered even an apology, instead they just blamed FedEx as I mentioned. So yeah I’m not impressed.
That sucks about the first experience. Hope Amazon pulls them from their site. Hugs to Rollins 🤗
Amazon will not pull them. JSE makes money for Amazon. It always boils down to money.
Thats not a JSE box or shipping label. It woulda shipped in a Honda box with a printed label. That is definitely a Fed Ex box job.
Yeah, It should have been in a Honda box. And since the Generator came from Jacks Small Engines they should have either left it IN the Honda box or put it IN the Honda box. What company worth their salt would drop off a bare generator at Fed Ex and just tell them to ship it? No one. JSE sucks and I stand behind my original assessment of them.
@@Wayneontheroad think what you want but thats not how it woulda left JSE.
@@davidfrees619 So under your logic it left JSE in the proper, smaller yet well padded Honda brand box and FedEx took it out of that and put it on it's side in this shitty box? Ok. You run with that, I'll stick with my initial assessment of JSE and that is that they suck. Even if JSE just dropped it off randomly at a FED Ex depot without any packaging I would still put it on them as I ordered a BRAND NEW Honda generator that should have arrived unopened in the proper box. Not a used one, NOT A FLOOR MODEL. So either way they fail in my book.
thats sad i got lots of hard to find parts from them,,,,times change i guess
It appears so friend. Just beware.
I never had a problem with purchases from Jacks Small Engine.
Lucky you. I won't ever use them again.
Yup. This is just happening to us
Sorry to hear. 🙁
I think they shipped you a used and returned product, bought a replacement bumper for my Tundra truck several years ago from Amazon and it came the same way. Took pictures like you and opened box to find a scratched bumper. Closed box and returned. Note no bubble wrap or packing material of any kind in box. Just a waste of my time..
Yeah, that's exactly what this was too. A big waste of my time.
great video -50 here with wind chill
Ouch.
You got what you paid for .😮
How do you figure?
You blame the seller but not the shipper
Do you really think the shipper was handling your junk like it was fragile?????
If they can throw stuff to save them a few steps they are going to
Acting like a crybaby as you are isn’t fixing the problem
The seller are the one's that packed it like this. Not me. To your point THE SELLER should have known that the shipper sometimes mishandles items and packed my $1200+ item appropriately. I'm not crying about it, I got the same generator from somewhere else. I'm just trying to make people aware of this crappy SELLER so they don't have to waste their time sending a broken item back. But hey no problem. Thanks for watching and commenting, My channel and the UA-cam algorithm thanks you.
You should have check your local dealer first, Honda is the same price across North America, if you are getting it a lot cheaper there is something wrong. Honda sets the price and one can deviate + or - $100. Not sure about the dollar amount but you get the gist.
I'm snowbirding in Quartzsite AZ. There is no local dealer unless I drive to Phoenix or Yuma. Having it delivered was more convenient. Well, should have been, lol.
