This game is atemporal, started to play this year and i'm so glad i tried it, became one of my favorite games so far
I had thought about playing for years but I hesitated (partly cause I was poor af back then, but mostly because I listened to the negative reviews.) Now I know better not to listen to this bitches. Despite setbacks and some stressful moments, I am thoroughly enjoying this game.
This has, no shit, become my favorite game of all time. When it came out in 2016, it unseated the then-reigning champ, Thief 2: The Metal Age, which had enjoyed the spot for FIFTEEN YEARS.

Ironically, Dismas and Reynauld make a pretty solid duo in many team comps.
Dismas with Duelist's Advance (3rd rank) can enable Reynauld's holy lance if he's on rank 2 and they can just keeping swaping places as needed.
I usually team them up with a Helion or Man at Arms at rank 1 and either a Vestal or Occultist in rank 4, the only drawback is the lack of stuns to rank 4 enemies(so they're not very good against the cannon boss),just keep that in mind and you're golden

Plague Doctor’s Liquid Weed (Battle-long DMG Buff that stacks)
Hellion’s Adrenaline Rush (Cures DOTs, Heal & 30% DMG buff is pretty damn good)
Jester’s Battle Ballad (Crits for days)
Antiquarian’s Invigorating Vapours (Can’t touch the team y’all)
Grave Robber’s Shadow Fade (Just a straight +80% DMG buff AND Stealth)

Plague Doctor’s Plague Grenade & Blinding Gas (Self-explanatory tbh. Especially when the backline is full of stress dealers)
Shieldbreaker’s Impale (Mass Blight & a TON of Crits with the right build, which results in MORE Blight & Stress Heal)
Flagellant’s Rain of Sorrows (Combine with Plague Doctor for the complete extinction of the enemy’s backline)
Hellion’s Breakthrough (Choo Choo)

I suppose my mistake was giving the impression that all such abilities are bad. My opinion (which I will also clarify in a future video) is that abilities that are buffs or AoEs are *on average* worse than their counterparts. This is in part because they don't fit my playstyle, and I'll try to make it clear in the future that there are many viable ways to play.
@@BakedValkyrie well, you said aoe's are bad while showing off grapeshot, where in grapeshots case, is 100% true. It is a garbage skill and anybody who uses it is very obviously new to Darkest Dungeon, so all is forgiven
@@ferwolf8076 i feel kinda insulted but its just funny asf how im new to the game and i also like grapeshot lmao XD, i was kinda leaning towards a reposte and bleed or focus the back line highwayman but idk im still a noob testing random compositions and getting clapped in most boss fights when i never fought them XDDD
@@sheenovh1182 dont worry about it lol. most of my highwaymen use the repost, single shot and both the basic and bleed melee's. having both melee options makes them very flexible. build your highwayman however you want honestly, but i will suggest that you always grab the repost as its hella strong and start each fight with him in 3rd position so when he reposts, he isnt stuck in1st and cant use his ranged attacks, unless of course you are running point blank to deal heavy damage to first and to knock himself back into 2nd
All true, now tell me how to fit all of this into my team so I can delete Heart Of Darkness (because I don't feel like going dodge + Finale cheese)

Man if you just made more videos you could be a household name, ur very entertaining, I know it takes a lot of time and effort to make these kind of things so I get why you dont make more but I think u got something here. (Also love this game, got it 3 weeks ago and I cant put it down)

I personally like to run high dodge trinkets on mine but i may try these out when i get better trinkets. I like the idea of him being a tank when he needs to be but if he isn't getting hit then my healers can focus elsewhere. Great videos dude, really tickled my...... funny bone. Subscribing and hoping to see more videos soon.

Multi hitting attacks suck? One of my go to attacks with grave robber is flashing daggers. Other than that great video.

@@reesewhittington6778 that shit counters for like 4-6 dmg and requires two turns or antiquarian Guard Me. I don’t think it’s a bad skill but I personally rather guard someone or bellow first turn to guarantee I go first next turn than riposte. I like to have rampart for certain boss fights or torchless so that leaves no room for me

Honestly I wish you had made more of these videos, they are insanely entertaining and have really helped me understand the characters covered
I like the dodge that the Highwayman gets from Unparalleled Finesse since he gain's a dodge buff of an extra ten dodge anytime he lands a critical hit which can make him almost impossible to hit. Very useful against the Sunken Crew, just have him stay up front with a large dodge value from trinkets and equipment plus Unparalleled Finesse and that anchor man will have a hell of a hard time trying to hit him.

I enjoy this video :) but i will fight you to the death on the point that the camping skill "Clean Guns" is trash. It super buffs Point Blank Shot (Which is arguably his most powerful ability) and his regular Pistol Shot which is also a solid attack. Other than that great video and keep up the good quality :))
Clean Guns realy depends on how you kitted your Highway man and what trinkets he has. If you got him on meele with repost etc its quite useless but if you go for a standart point-blank combo its realy fucking strong.

Man, these were great, exactly the type of stuff I wanted to find, significantly more coherent and informative AND entertaining than...a certain other someone that drones on for half an hour listing off every possible situation where Tracking Shot could be viable.
Hope you find the will and inspiration to make one of these for the rest of the cast!
But knowing this game your will and inspiration were double critted, blight ticked deaths door, got the hopeless affliction and then the 0heal Bleed finished it off.
I'm in the midgame at the time of writing this comment in a radiant run. My highwayman's build used to be Open Vein, Pistol Shot, Grapeshot, and... I forgot what I put in my fourth skill slot. But now it's been made into Open Vein, Grapeshot, Duelist's Advance, and Point Blank Shot. Say what you want about AoE skills, Grapeshot is a good throwaway on a large portion of hallway battles. Helps cut through the weaker enemies when I don't have something strong enough to take one down in a single blow.
I put him in a party with a Hellion, Houndmaster, and Vestal. Vestal for healing, Hellion for Duelist's Advance synergy with her Breakthrough, and the Houndmaster because he can attack any enemy that the others can't reach for reliable damage or alternatively pepper them with bleed in what is even more AoE. This entire little team of mine is built around Bleed and AoE. And it works for grinding out dungeons like the Weald, Warrens, and the Mill, but not so much the Ruins or Cove. They killed the first Hag in the Weald beyond easily, though that might've been because I was overleveled.
Still learning. The main reason I made this comment was because I wanted to share the strategy I've developed, primarily due to the fact that I keep seeing/hearing people shutting out AoE or buffs as strategies when I've gotten good use out of them.

Clean guns isn't too bad if you don't have a party members with better skills. It could be that I also don't use melee on him very much. I go pbs, riposte, track, and either bleed because its acc is higher than wicked or to help deal with shitty low hp enemies I will go ahead and use grapshot. So I get alot out of 20% damage and 6% crit.

For me the highway man is my favorite you got melee you got range you got flexibility and he works in every team the only way they try to “nerf” him is that every camping skill is 4 points
