After watching many tutorials on color grading I’ve determined it’s basically just an overpowered Hue/Saturation slider, no matter the LUTs used any adjustment to a wheel will always wash the entire image in one overwhelming color. It’s leagues easier to just film the shot with the proper settings than spend hours on a color slider.
I mean sure, but you're gonna be quite limited on your results. If you're experiencing the fact that it's all giving washed out with one color you might wanna do a little bit of research on color theory. Other than that, yeah, you can shoot. All in camera and just go and raw dog. It like that you're just gonna be creatively limited. To what your camera can produce in camera.
I think you think this because you’re filming in 8 bit 709. Yes, if you’re crushing your dynamic range and colors, or your camera is very basic and can’t even shoot 8 bit log, then, yeah. Color grading is pretty much only for real cameras. Only IPhone JUST started letting you shoot in log

Wait... using an A7S III and you're having problems with the noise? What ISO did you shoot at? That camera with the 12 megapixel sensor should have alleviated your worry for noise reduction. Unless you were shooting at an ISO too high.
Noise is present because of lack of available light. When youre running and gunning solo shooting at night with no consistent lighting, there is going to be noise without a light source. The a7siii is absolutely incredible, but also because its only 12 megapixels, noise is a bit more obvious compared to an a7iv for example with its 7k oversample. The noise is absolutely fine, I just want it to be as clean as possible because why not improve your footage to the max? And secondly this is a tutorial. Just because I don’t necessarily need it doesnt mean other people may not. It’s a useful thing to know about when you need it. Hope that helps!

I’m new to da DaVinci resolve, what is the purpose of adding a new node with each property? Is it for better management or does it affect the look of you change everything in one node?
Much like photoshop layers, it’s so you can work non destructively, as well as organize the grading process. In resolve, the earlier the node, the more its affects your grade. So major changes first, and then smaller incremental changes

Hello. what parameters should the computer have for comfortable work with davinci resolve? that's the bare minimum. the budget computer. and what parameters so perfect. thank you.
my doubt is why did you put all the nodes.......i think thats just to show us editing process or does it have any other purpose in the colourgrading process
You normally use nodes to separate processes, so you first expose the image and stop touching that node so that in the case you mess up you don’t have to undo all the work you made. So basically you separate steps between nodes to “save” your progress.
soooooooooo you have to do this for every single clip your using for a video or is there way to apply it to everything and go back into it to micro adjust for certain parts ?
Thank you so much for this video. It was easy to follow and use for a beginner and now I just have to practice. :)

What if I'm on a PC? Can you include those settings also next time?
It will depend on your specific monitor, the reason why it’s simple with mac is because it’s built in.
@@MarcTaraz Amazing explanation. Thank you sm!
I’m glad I could help!

Hello! I have a film I need to complete and the friend who's been doing color correction has become extremely busy with his own project. So, I don't wish to bother him and decided to look for someone who can help me with the color correction. No too much left, but some clips might be challenging. Is there any way you could take a look at it and let me know if it's something you could do? Your video is great, but I'm still far from being technical... Thank you!
Can you apply these same nodes to multiple clips? I’m making UA-cam videos and have a lot of cut up scenes and it would take a year for me to apply all these edits to each one?
You can select all the clips and right click to apply grade to all the clips
Instantly subsribed. The way you speak is very good. Audio quality is peak.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel!
This was a good tutorial. I’m new to DaVinci Resolve. Thank you for sharing this with us!
What about color shift settings for windows?
Best video I saw
Can you copy those settings for each little scene that you take ? For example if I took a non stop scene then cut it into my little edits instead of adding nodes to each little scene can I just copy it
copy and paste it
I dropped the Color Space Transform in the note box, the Settings button is still disable grayed out. What can I do? Thank you for your time.
how did you make the viewer bigger on 3:08?
@marctaraz
Bro I have already installed a deviancy resolve 17 but when i open deviancy it shows all the things big and also the color tab and fusion i select the project of 1920 by 1080 but when I create it then it show very small preview I have already reset the UI but it does not work
Hi Marc thanks for the video tip its amazing i have a question regarding the PC should we use the same settings you mention earlier for mac viewers ?
How do I know what input colour space to use? I don't understand what input colour space, input gamma, output colour space and output gamma are, and what I'm supposed to choose for each.
roar washed out footage is usually log,,, S log is log footage from sonny camera, if its Canon its C log,,,,,, if you have a background in photography take it as log= cr3,,, rec 709 = jpeg
Best video. I’m learning so much.
Is there a way to apply the same setting (after set) to multiple clips?
Yes! In the color tab, Select the clips you want, right click, and select apply grade
@@MarcTaraz Thank You. Keep up the awesome videos
have you tracked the actress for masking? Thanks again! ;)
Hey I was wondering why there is this "tree" at the right corner? What does it affect?
Hey Marc, I just wanted to say I took a little Screenshot of your video to explain to my viewers what Color Grading is and what it can look like when done right. I hope that's okay? I gave credit in the video itself and in my video description too.
thanks dude , can u put the original video so we can practice on it?
best coloring ever you help me a lot thank you bro
So glad I can help!
You nailed this. Great video.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed!
The moment you hit the reset node grade, it automatically omits the settings on color space transform?
Thanks the video! : 709-A and "Use mac display color profiles for viewers" is only needed when using an Apple monitor, correct? I edit on a mac but don't use an Apple monitor and don't seem to have any issues.
How can we follow along with you. We don't have same video footage?
Hard to color without using waveform.
where is the slog in 3:05
Basic question .When we have video in d-cienema for adding luts and grading do we need always to add another nod? Lets say i have 30 -60 minutes video and i want add same lut to entire video .Lut is 90% colors but still we can add some grading video cant be too dark (low light) too brights overexppsedb ( day time)
is rec 709-a the same color space for an 2024 m3pro macbook pro display?
This is so helpful and I got something here ❤❤
Thank you so much for the video! This was a good tutorial, Taking notes.
thanks for such a great video, very helpful to start my switch from adobe premiere to davinci
I’m glad you found it helpful!
In the video when he is deselecting all the corrections to see how much it is changed how do you do that?
Can you provide some log footages like these , so i can practice , i will appreciate it .
thank you , the motion effect part is a bit hard to understand.
Thanks for the detailed tutorial! And that's HongKong btw!
I noticed you selected s log 3 for the timeline. When using the phantom lut do you also have slog 3 selected in the timeline?
Hello. what parameters should the computer have for comfortable work with davinci resolve? that's the bare minimum. the budget computer. and what parameters so perfect. thank you.
Thanks for this video. It is very easy to understand
my doubt is why did you put all the nodes.......i think thats just to show us editing process or does it have any other purpose in the colourgrading process
You normally use nodes to separate processes, so you first expose the image and stop touching that node so that in the case you mess up you don’t have to undo all the work you made. So basically you separate steps between nodes to “save” your progress.
It’s like using layers in photoshop or illustrator.
A lot of playing around to get a subjective result. Can this be saved as a luts?
Everything in DaVinci can be saved as a LUT or also as a node tree
soooooooooo you have to do this for every single clip your using for a video or is there way to apply it to everything and go back into it to micro adjust for certain parts
?
There is! Select the clips you want to copy the grade to, right click, and hit apply grade!
@@MarcTaraz thank you very much. I'll have to try this out.
Thank you so much for this🙌🏾
You are most welcome!
