This year (2021) Chicago police have reported 354 homicides and 1,514 wounded and we are ONLY ON THE FIRST DAY OF JULY, Chicago has already surpassed last years numbers of homicides and wounded and we still have another 6 months to go.

There should be a checklist of things you need to do before having kids
1: Graduate high school
2: Have a good undestanding of budgeting and how finances work in general
3: Full time employment for the father and at least part time employment for the mother
4: Be married, both be working towards agreed upon goals, and actually get along with each other
That is the absolute minimum people shoud do before even think about getting pregnant. Of course there will be statistical outliers, I grew up in a single family household because one of parents died when I was 4 years old. The cycle of poverty, despair, and violence will continue to go on as long as people don't do what makes sense.

This isnt about "defunding the police."
While that isnt helping, it's not the root cause. It doesnt matter how many cops you have, what their traing is and how funded they are when every person they arrest is released back to the streets with all charges dropped. This problem starts with the mayor and the DA and extends to a community that knows they cant work with police because the people the report will be allowed to go free the next day.
