The excuse from Beetlejuice now is that the states surrounding Illinois are at fault since they have more lax gun laws. So people are breaking the law by getting firearms via straw purchases, stealing them and bringing them in from out of state, or just bringing them across state lines, but that doesn't matter; We need to crack down on the law-abiding in order to stop the law-breakers.
They never seem to realize that guns criminals use don't come from law abiding gun owners, it's been shown in ever study ever done but it doesn't fit their agenda so they wont listen.
I guarantee if people didn't have guns the crime rate would be much much worse seeing as the statistics on crimes prevented due to an armed person are staggering.

Lol totally feel ya. The thing is there are two Chicago's actually. The change is sudden (literally one block to the next) and is striking. You have the north and east Chicago where people are normal and the south and west Chicago where this type of shit is going on daily. I live in the good Chicago and it's a good life, but nobody knows what to do about the other one. Everything anyone does is wrong, but so is letting them kill each other. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. I know it's fucked up but sometimes I wonder if the best thing to do would be to violence-quarantine those areas until they agreed to give up all their illegal weapons, drugs, and agree to a population dispersal program and agree to go to school. OR when facing charges be given the option to get a college degree while on house arrest / probation or just get locked up hard, like for an unreasonably long time and not get the record expunged.

Criminals harming innocents or other criminals can't be compared to swore officers abusing their power. What you're suggesting is that the outrage should be equal for government officials abusing power as criminals being criminals. Anytime someone is given POWER over others (COPS) the culpability of their crimes will be greater because they were entrusted with POWER to handle responsibilities. More deaths this past weekend than TOTAL unarmed killings by police in 2019. See Washington Post data.
