I really appreciate what you do for men! I love how you're encouraging men to look after themselves. It is refreshing to see a man who is genuinely encouraging young men to look after themselves and optimise their self worth & image. Bless
Boy I wish I'd seen this when I was still in school. I was such a slob back then, and afterward too. Add it to my long list of things I desperately wish I'd done differently when I was younger.
II'm a college student who used to dress very casually and thought that was totally appropriate. This year I am taking a course named Business Etiquette and I start to understand the importance of dressing properly. Thanks for all your works. They are helpful.
I'm a sophomore in college and you've inspired me to start dressing better. Looking around campus I can see that dressing better will distinguish me from the masses. Most guys are just plain sloppy in their dress. I'm going to start phasing in polos and other collard shirts along with sweaters. Thanks for making this video.
Hi Antonio, This was one of the first videos I think I watched on your channel. Watching it again a year later, I just wanted to say I think this is one of your best videos, period. You look very confident and relaxed, and your talking speed is spot on. Thanks for all the fantastic content.
I just joined university, I'm a jazz guitarist so I always wear a suit, mostly because I like it, I live in London so I'm always warm, comfortable and sharp. The problem is having my guitar with me always plus laptop and notepads.
You are an inspiration to me, Antonio. I've been a t-shirt kinda dude for years and never cared about how I present myself, but you certainly changed that mentality. I've upgraded my wardrobe with polos and dress shirts, and its unbelievable how much of a difference it has made. Thanks man you're awesome keep the videos coming. Kind regards, Anwar
Great tips in this video! I'm currently a college freshman at The Ohio State University and I am in the process of slowly changing my wardrobe! Thanks for this great video!
no no, you gotta have an ahegao shirt instead of a blazer over the map t-shirt. also, best to braid some part of your head. but only some part of it. also gain like 50 pounds.
You'll be outgrowing it soon anyway, I'm afraid! Boys who are still growing usually want to stick to pretty basic, well-shined black or brown leather oxfords -- and not spend too much on them, since they'll be replaced within a year or two at the most.
Thanks for the video and especially for the specific tips. As a college student I already have enough stress without trying to decipher cryptic "tips" in some other videos. These tips are very easy to understand and implement. keep up the good work, you earned a subscriber.
As a guy who uses an old-school Gillette safety razor, I can honestly say, few things are more relaxing in the morning than being able to take your time with a good shave. Get some good shaving soap, a comfortable razor, and a good brush.....you won't regret it. It's incredibly relaxing, and it gives a way better shave than some POS disposable razor. Plus, a pack of about ten blades runs you 15-20 bucks on average.
I Just got a hold of some great Blazers after watching these vids. I grew up in Harlem and didn't care much about dressing classy. As I got into my mid 30's, I realized that I had to dress better than I was. After learning things from these videos, I've been wearing everything from sports coats to brass button blazers. I even got the hook up from a seller who had great prices on brands like Hugo Boss and Ermenegildo Zegna. Thanks for opening my eyes. I know my wife likes what she's seeing.
I started reading articles on the Art of Manliness a few days ago, and quickly found your article, which I love. Interestingly enough, I recently got a hooded sweater from Brooks Brothers that I highly prefer to any of my hooded sweatshirts, and I've also been wearing moccasins. I also found out that Vans, a skating shoe brand that I wear religiously, makes chukkas. Seeing as how I longboard to nearly every class, I believe I've found shoes that have class AND functionality. Thanks for the tips.
@carlitoni Depends on the shirt. Some V-necks are meant to be undershirts, and they can look pretty cheap and sloppy worn as an outer layer. Others are nice, fitted pieces that go great with nice trousers and some stylish shoes. But it's not like they're a fashion no-fly zone or anything!
@wpblu I avoid rec brands as their quality varies over product lines and years. My advice would be to learn more about shoes (there are great books on shoes on Amazon), find a trusted salesman who knows his stuff (you identify him by having a basic understanding and know the right questions to ask) and look for value brands that balance price and quality and meet your budget constraints.
- I really don't know if too many people give a f*ck about looking nice on campus. Guys nowadays just walk around with sweatpants on layered above their hi-tops or long-ass nike socks, like paratroopers during WWII. Add a grungy-looking t-shirt or sweatshirt, with the sloppy toker hair and you'll fit in with 90% of the guys on campus.
+Ivan Denisovich Shukhov Being part of the herd mentality is not wrong - But most of us, who do naturally fit in when we’re just being our regular old default selves, can benefit from a little individuality. This article should help - www.realmenrealstyle.com/herd-mentality-mens-fashion/
you must not be very smart... how do you get "obsessed... with looking superior" out of that looking put together and professional is completely different. you sir are either a troll or a dumbass
You know I love the way you talk the way you present, but what Iv observed is lack of pictorial examples while you are speaking. This serves two main purpose 1. It helps your followers to know what you are referring to. 2. In a fairly long video (>8min) it becomes a little boring after sometime. Some movement on the screen might help break that monotone. Not saying you have to but its just an opinion. :-)
I agree with Ahthesham Sheikh Mohammed I've been thinking pretty much the same thing. Since your content is great, I would like that your videos be more popular. Antonio Centeno allow me to suggest a channel that in my opinion, gets more views because of the way he makes the videos - Vsauce I think you could use some of the techniques he uses, like music, introduction, background, etc., to have more traffic on your contents; or this is what I think, anyway.
I need to show my grandson this video. I’m sending him to Brown University and when I showed up for parent’s weekend he was dressed like a slob. No blazer just some raggedy looking, way too low rise, jeans and a un-tucked button down shirt with some kind of skull on it and sneakers. I was so pissed!
I would love to see an updated video with the current style of videos. Because there's no music or the usual upbeat energy, it looks extremely somber. Especially with the black background.
Thank you Antonio, your tips are very helpful. I'm a student working a part time job managing a grocery store, since I started dressing more as a man, I have noticed that the store owner and even my team have been taking me more seriously.
i just found the article and this video today. i've already started to apply these tips. i'm 20 years old, overweight (lost 32 pounds in three months and counting), and never had the most confidence growing up. now girls are always talking to me because almost nobody dresses nice in the entire campus of 15,000+ students =) this stuff WORKS with out a doubt
Thank you for this video. Dress for your future. I clean up some days but, I have found the need to treat everyday like it is an interview, a chance to improve my job status etc. I'm forming a plan and taking this to action.
I wish some of these could also be elaborated on for "not-so-fit" men. I mean, a lot of it can generally apply, but the sweater bit specifically mentioned "fit" men. I'm heading off to community college and I've never been too great with wardrobe. I'm also not the fittest guy around (but I'm trying to change that), so trying to look as good as I can is fairly important to me. It's not just for observers, but my own self-esteem.
You have such great videos. I don't only adore the content, but I love your presentation style. I'm a teacher in training and I'd love to have the confidence and calm (but assertive!) demeanour you're showing in your videos.
Excellent video, in fact, I just decided a week ago that I wanted to be taken more seriously at University instead of wearing band shirts and a beanie all the time. Today, I went out and bought a few sweaters, shirts and corduroys, and they fit great!
I love collars. I made sure to dump my t-shirts and purchased just a couple of collared t-shirts and I find the collar to be a very nice touch. Also looking for a couple of sweaters for the fall and winter to complete my 'casual' wardrobe.
in my college, fashion is important and the way we dress will always be one of the things people talk/ judge about. grrr. some goes to me when i see people wear something which dont suit them... please admin i wish to see more videos for college student :D
Wow, here I am just randomly browsing these videos... and you just answered a problem I've been having. It's nice to know that it's common for soap to make your face red/sore. Thank you for this tip, I'll be buying some facial soap this afternoon.
I think it would be really nice if you could ad pictures to the type of clothing you refer to as some viewers as myself are not English speakers and have trouble knowing exactly what you mean great videos!
Thank you very much for your practical tips. I came from a high school which requires everyone to wear the same uniform, so I have never learned how to dress well in the college. You are the inspiration to my style change.
Real Men Real Style Hi Antonio, I have a question really need an answer to. So, I am an athlete and I have huge thighs as a result of all the training. I can't seem to be able to find jeans that fit my body type. I have a slim waist, huge thighs as mentioned and rather big calves. Thanks in advance.
I have to say that on the whole, Australian uni students seem to embrace fashion as comparable to how American students forgo it. Everywhere I look around on the Melbourne campus I see tailored jackets, skinny chinos/jeans, buttoned up collared shirts w/ beautiful floral or striped patterns. Everyone has their own slightly individualistic dress code (adding vintage or modern accessories), in which the majority have impeccable style. Rarely do I see anyone wearing the university hoodie.
Thank you so much Antonio for combining your videos with videos for younger people. It seems that you know that your audience are not only a "men", but who is under 24 years old as well.. Keep up the good work!
Agreed with everything but the statement about flip flops because Hawai'i is my home. Professors wear them but still manage to look presentable. Just a cultural (not referring to indigenous culture) thing. It comes down to understanding of time and place which you did mention. Mahalo for the enlightening video.
I'd say start practicing in High school. College, I'd be putting my money more towards my tuition and living. If you experiment with hair, wardrobe etc in highschool, it'll be a lot easier transitioning into college. Great advice though, for face soap I use baby oil. It's meant for babies' gentle sensitive skin and I can rub it into my eyes without it burning.
I've got a trashy ass room, usually wear very verrryyyy laid back clothing. I think I'll give this a try, clean my act up a little, look professional. I've written down a lot of these examples, heading to town tomorrow to buy many of these examples put forward.
I'm currently enrolled at Baylor University. I never thought in my wildest dreams that a Longhorn would be able to give me 1st rate advice on dressing well.
At this time of the year practice layering, bring in fun but stylish jackets, and introduce laced dress boots into the wardrobe with corduroy. Experiment at this stage in life!
Nice video. Luckily I have been done those tips since a year ago. Many friends are complaining about me too 'dressed' for such a class in the morning. But seeing this video makes me convinced that actually those things are reflecting your future (p.s I'm Architecture student)
Massimo Dutti (dont know if you can find this shop in USA) At least here in Europe, there you can find such high end clothing you talk about at very good prices, specially when at discounts. I bought a 70-euro dark blue sweather for 12 euros, at the very same store; just because it was from last season. Nedless to say, one of my best purchases in years.
Antonio ... could you please do a video regarding the different haircuts that will suit people's head shape and describe your own haircut and different cuts you done over the past and how you found which one suited you best etc. Thanks
What has worked best for me is simply not using soap on my face. I had mild acne for awhile; I was using an acne treatment, and all it really did for me was make things worse whilst making my face feel weird. At some point someone suggested I just stop using soap, and that helped immensely.
I would love to hear some tips for College Freshman in fraternities, especially before we get to deep into the fall. I know my boat shoes, khaki pants, and button down shirt wont be keeping me warm once the leaves change. Love your videos!
Great tips! I actually took it upon myself almost 2 years ago now to start making a lot of these changes already. Cost is always an issue, but you make do.
I've watched a few of your videos and I realized that a lot of the fashion and style tips you are giving are towards more "professional" look even if its paired with jeans or even if its like a flannel plaid button up. I'm a female in my late 20's and the guys that I see at work or in the malls and whatnot that are around my age don't ever dress that way. I understand for job interviews, working in a more corporate setting, an evening party, etc would require something more "dressed" up. Most people just wear a t-shirt and jeans on a daily basis. Even with that very basic attire it can be worn very put together and not slouchy like one has just gotten out of bed. And I don't think just cuz someone doesn't wear slacks and a button up that they aren't stylish. Not saying men should be flounting their short running shorts to the movies or the library (daily tasks), but I think casual can be stylish too if worn properly. Just a thought. Also from a female's point of view.... I like a man who is well dressed but if they are always so "proper" in the way they dress (in daily life not interviews and such) I might actually get a wrong impression of them like they are stuck up or something.
Real Men Real Style Thank you for linking that video. I would like to clarify myself. I know that looks is a huge things these days as sadly people judge each other by the "cover of the book" so to speak before getting to know someone. I just wanted to point out that one doesn't need to dress "professional" to look put together, stylish, good first impression, what have you. That's just my honest personal opinion :)
Great tips. I'm in college and I have to admit that I do not shave because of vermelhar that I'm in the following days. one of the things I also liked was that spoke of some rules for people with overweight, do not know if you already have a video on this topic but I was wondering if you have any.
I appreciate your tips as they are definitely helpful but I think it should be noted that changes like this should be gradual. Trying to change your entire identity in one fell swoop could give of the impression of trying to hard or being a poser. I also feel it should be known that people can still wear some casual jeans or t-shirts (avoid graphic tees though) once in a while. You can't be dressed up all the time. As long as your outfit is crisp and clean you are good to go for the every day.
As someone who lives in Austin, I can agree with much of what's been said. There's no event formal ebnough that someone won't show up in sandals or shorts. It's embarrassing.
Hey Antonio, great tips!!! I would like to add a tip- body odor. The wey that a good or bad body odor can portray in the begining of the business world can make a big and a good first impression at job interview.
Tips start at 2:50 you can thank me later.
Lil Kim thanx bro!

Youre awesome man! As a young entrepreneur and business owner getting right into the business world with no experience your videos are very helpful!
Thank you.
I've watched numerous videos and I must say I'm extremely impressed. Each video was concise, yet left me with hefty, distinctive knowledge! Great job!
***** thank you for the kind words Dandre. :) I wish you the best on your style journey

Ok, so is there like a lady version of this channel? I feel like I need advice now, haha. All your points are super solid. :)
Here's a tip too. If it's cold outside, I'd say wear the sweatshirt but under neath, wear the collared shirt.
You are welcome.
starting school today! watching this provided some reassurance.
David King appreciate the feedback David
@GreenDevilz31 Glad to hear it! Keep checking the channel...new ones coming out almost every day now!
That's very true! It's a working sport lapel -- the jacket can button closed in bad weather.
9 years old comment, hope the wardrobe is full of amazing suits and accessories now. Starting my own journey now 👍
Dude you're so right. People now a days don't know how to dress haha. All about the polos, dark jeans, and brown leather
I think girls can learn a lot from this as well... I wish there was a version for ladies.
t-shirt -> polo
sweatshirt -> sweater
trousers -> dark jeans
sport shoes ->casual sneakers
Nobody can dictate what you wear but dressing for the occasion does help a lot.
Great tips in this video! I'm currently a college freshman at The Ohio State University and I am in the process of slowly changing my wardrobe! Thanks for this great video!
Travis Long great to hear - i wish you the best on your style journey
You are welcome
Antonio is an amazing entrepreneur and his content is second to none, I will soon be purchasing his books.
Thank you sir!
What are your thoughts on fedoras paired with My little pony tshirts with cheetos stains and a neckbeard?
OH BABY A TRIPLE
nope.
They diddle little kiddies
no no, you gotta have an ahegao shirt instead of a blazer over the map t-shirt. also, best to braid some part of your head. but only some part of it. also gain like 50 pounds.

Excellent video. College student here, you give sound, very direct advice. I also like your personality and characteristics on camera. Great job.

It's great to see you're from UT, I'm an austinite myself. Going to school in Minnesota though.
Great videos Antonio, you have inspirated me for better dressing!
kuc3r4z awesome - thanks
Antonio ... could you please do a video regarding the different haircuts that will suit people's head shape and describe your own haircut and different cuts you done over the past and how you found which one suited you best etc.
Thanks
What has worked best for me is simply not using soap on my face. I had mild acne for awhile; I was using an acne treatment, and all it really did for me was make things worse whilst making my face feel weird. At some point someone suggested I just stop using soap, and that helped immensely.
MWCayenne Good for you!
First video I watched after getting off the phone. With whom you ask? AT&T...offered me the job I applied for. Freaky shit, man.
Ricardo Ortiz cool! Congratulations on your first job
i really wish you would incorporate examples but i really do enjoy your advice!
TheGLOSSette thanks for the detailed comment - here's my take on why I dress sharp everyday: www.realmenrealstyle.com/why-be-sharp-dressed-man/
Real Men Real Style Thank you for linking that video.
Frederico Ferreira This article should help - @2013/07/24/large-man-style/
Real Men Real Style thanks i will see this article and before that i will say samething
Great video and great article!
Thanks a bunch :)
Hey Antonio, great tips!!!
I would like to add a tip- body odor.
The wey that a good or bad body odor can portray in the begining of the business world can make a big and a good first impression at job interview.
Shai Shalom Agreed!
This guy knows his shit.
just got accepted to UT 3 days ago. shout out
I usually just use cream or conditioner with an exacto knife to shave...
Real men shave with an axe.
lol
Hey, I remember watching one of your vids a long time ago. You recommended Taylor fit shirts from fifth and Lamar. Great tip, thanks.
