      No. Most of the things they mock him for being "boring" and "technical" about are actually extremely fascinating, and any real car person would be thrilled to spend an hour or so talking about it. One of the biggest annoyances of the show, in my opinion, is the way they act as if "real car people" just like their cars to be fun, exciting toys that they don't actually understand. People like that are not car people, they are cocks and idiots.

      @sebastiaanvandeweerd4290 7 років тому +111

      James may knows the Monaco grand prix. But even at top gear they work with Skripts, and they think it is funny to pretend that some times James and Richard don't know any thing about F1. But that is all just scripted. Fact is that it was a good program right until they left and came with the grand tour on amazon, which is also good.

I don't think the Stig could have tried harder on the timed lap. Even, I could see that Mercedes was hard to control on the track. Still stuns me to this day. I can only imagine how incredible it was to have seen it actually racing in F1 in the 1970s, especially in person. It's also interesting - unsurprising now (purpose-built for it generally, much lighter, better aerodynamics etc.) though shocking as a child - how much faster the old thing was than any of the saloon cars round the track.

    I think most of everyone here forgot about ONE thing...ok so the F1 car has ONLY 420hp...which nowadays seems quite low. HOWEVER...if you factor in the weight of each car compared to the Lotus...they are more than double...closer to triple. Therefore the saloon cars would need at LEAST 800+horsepower to be even close to the Lotus. The results of this "test" surpised me none. I watched it to watch the Lotus only and admire that beautiful beast.

    • @d.e.b.b5788
      @d.e.b.b5788 5 років тому

      @Moises I think the only one to beat him around the track was Schumacher, but there was a question of the car being specially set up for him.
      @BlackJackMulligan The stig was several different drivers. I think Perry McCarthy was the first, but that changed after they fake killed him off driving off of an aircraft carrier. Then Ben Collins, who lasted through 2010, and the last one who still isn't known.
