  • This special type of brainspotting is my absolute favorite. Tune in to find out why! Don't forget to "like, subscribe, and share". You never know who may need to see this today.
    Rolling brainspotting is a favorite among clinicians and clients alike. For the clinician it requires extreme attunement to our clients' every move. For the client, it provides surprising results and awareness into exactly where memories, feelings, beliefs, and traumas are held.

    In therapy I use a combination of empirically validated and researched techniques for the treatment of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, and treatment of eating disorders. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources and are used in my own practice with my clients. Many of these techniques come from the founder of Brainspotting, David Grand, and from the work of EMDR creator and founder, Francine Shapiro. I am also Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) certified, and have an additional certification in Fitness and Nutrition Coaching from National Exercise Sports Training Association.

    This was a very good demonstration. My therapist meets with me over Zoom and moves the pointer along both the x and y axis. I know when I hit a spot and tell him to stop at that point. He can also tell when I hit a spot just by watching my reactions. I saw in one video that Cannabis is the most effective adjunct to somatic therapy, so I got mildly high last time (Maui Wowee strain) and it worked very well for me!

      @@thewellnesscheck It has been amazing so far. I tried EVERYTHING over the past 50 years, including 7 different SSRI's and lots of talk therapy. None of that helped me.

    I HAVE heard that brainspotting is one of those things were you don’t really understand it or how it works until you do it , but I am just so confused and baffled by it.
    My understanding of it overall is that basically there is a spot/ area in your vision where you feel more sensitive and uncomfortable to negative feelings like stress , anxiety , depression, anger, guilt , etc. there’s a spot in your eyesight where you feel them the strongest AND the reason that they are the strongest in that spot/ area specifically, is because it’s the spot/ area where your eyes tend to go when thinking about or processing those emotions in real time (for example: say I have been waiting to hear back from my dream school that I’ve wanted to go to my whole life and it was the only college I applied to & I didn’t get in, or I get into a super heated fight with my brother , etc, when feeling those emotions of devastation and rage, my eyes go to that spot) and that could be completely wrong lol but that’s my understanding of it , so, like what? That’s so weird . Couldn’t it be possible that everyone’s different and maybe that’s not what happens? Lol you would think that the people who are around us everyday and are close to us and vice versa would notice our eyes having that pattern everytime we get upset though , I would think k? Or maybe it’s just a very discreet thing but also, if that is true , that’s kind of scary/ depressing to think that it’s that easy and sensitive and not really something we have much control over plus here we all are walking around everyday not knowing that about ourselves. lol so if I keep my eyes shut for the rest of my life , is it possible I won’t be so sensitive to my emotions ? LOL . My biggest question of all though, is how is sitting in silence for an hour across from a person who is quite literally controlling emotions and doing nothing but feeling them , a way of processing trauma and making you emotionally stronger ? How ????? I understand we do have to face those emotions and process them to heal from them. But we do that in therapy by talking it out. Talking lets you vent. You are releasing all of that out. In brain spotting , what the explanation of why that would work??? There isn’t one. And omggg I will be the first person to tell you that if I go a couple of weeks without therapy , or I’m going through something difficult and my therapist isn’t there to help me and I DO have to sit there with my emotions by myself , I’ll tell you right now that I have found myself talking to myself just to be able to get it out and away from me bc keeping it bottled up only makes it entirely worse . If facing those feelings by yourself while you force yourself hard feelings as strong as possible actually worked , then therapy would have never needed to exist . And soooo many people who have PTSD or who have experienced trauma , probably everybody, wouldn’t be so terrified of those experiences or revisiting that trauma if it was only healing it. Why isn’t there blindspot for the possible, happy, euphoric emotions we feel ? Or is it the same spot ? I just don’t understand lol

      - Thank you for your response. I absolutely loved your questions and curiosity about the process. So much so in fact, I think I will make a video answering these questions to the best of my ability. There still is a lot to figure out about how the brain works and why it does what it does, but hang tight. I'm on it :)

    When do you decide to do rolling bsp over the other set ups?

    • @thewellnesscheck
      @thewellnesscheck  3 місяці тому

      Great question- what I love about BSP is that there are so many options for people. I use Rolling BSP when a client is either having difficulty focusing on a target, or if there are a lot of complexities within the target. Rolling BSP is an excellent way to process a multitude of things simultaneously. I remember in my own training and practice, I loved Rolling BSP the best. It has such impactful outcomes! I have also switched to Rolling BSP in the case someone feels stuck or isnt moving along in constructive ways. Hope this helps!

    Do most clinicians use rolling brain spotting?

    • @thewellnesscheck
      @thewellnesscheck  9 місяців тому

      You know, that's a good question. I think every clinician has their own way of doing things, and choosing which types of BSP fit the needs of their clients. But I imagine that rolling BSP is used quite often. It's such an efficient way of procession emotions an trauma .

    I wonder one thing about Rolling Brainspotting, is it done just on X axis, or is it also done on Y and Z axis?

    • @thewellnesscheck
      @thewellnesscheck  4 місяці тому

      Great question. I always use the X axis, usually about eye level from far left to far right and back again.
