If they made them RWD, they would only make it for a couple years, never advertise it, charge too much, and then suddenly stop with some BS excuse like it wasn't selling and then never come close to making anything like it ever again. Just like they did with the Holden Commodore (Chevy SS)
This is so similar to the Impala's of the same gen. Want to do the same thing as you. I prefer the Monte Carlo's over the Impala, but doing RWD 6L LS in an Impala would be such a sleeper.
Just to let everyone know this is my car and to do something like this would cost $20,000 in parts and $60,000 in labor. Definitely can't be done for $2,000 like most people think!! Better be a dam good fabricator if you plan on tackling something like this yourself!! 3 people working on this car with all of use each having 30+ years experience working on car's!!
@@casinocali704 the only way this could be done for $15,000 is if you do all the labor. Take a build like this to any hotrod shop and ask them if this could be done for $15,000 parts and labor and see what they tell you.

Once you have the tunnel for the transmission and rear wheel swapped you have pretty much have free range at what engines and transmissions you could use. I have the same car and you could put a hemi, 2jz, 5.3, 6.0, bicharged v6, etc no problem it just all boils down to how much you love the Monte and how long you plan on keeping it around for. But once that conversion is done for rwd it opens a lot of doors for what can be done. Wether you go all out brand new parts or junkyards parts or a mix of both.
Have a 2011 gmc terrain I want to ls swap it. Has a 2.4 motor in it. They are junk. I'm watching your video to get idea from you. I want to see if any of them are all wheel drive because the gmc terrain is all wheel drive. Cant wait to get a motor and get started

no updates, its still around, the owner drove it once last year, beings it does not turn correctly, not much has been done. he does not like our suggestions to remedy it. basically he has to spend money, and the steering fairy hasnt mysteriously corrected it, so it just sits. there is a million diff ways to do a conversion like this. the one thing i will say is it aint cheap! and dont rely on what others on yt did, most dont tell you what actually works and what doesnt work, car basically needs mustang spindles on it, or a whole subframe grafted on. owner says we dont know what we are doing when it comes to steering, but it was his idea to swap the spindles from side to side, "gonna be easy peasy... it will only take 2 weeks.... LOL among other things i call dumb ideas, cause thats what ev one else did on yt. no one on yt says it does not turn correctly. expensive lessons learned the hard way.

im not familiar with the gtr engine, but i would think it would fit in the car easier, the 5.3 is a little tight. height wise and length wise more so than the width.

Take plasma to 94 Camaro just leave subframe and take plasma to Monte Carlo lay body over Camaro sub frame with floor pans. Trim as you go. Best case scenario SS Camaro with factory ls.
I have a 2007 SS V8 Monte Carlo sitting in my driveway rotting away in the Vegas Sun, nothing wrong with it it's just sitting there.... I bought a 2007 M6 BMW 5 years ago I parked the Monte Carlo 2 years ago( insurance purposes I was paying $700 for insurance for both the cars full coverage) both the cars are paid off though but fudge the insurance was kicking my butt.............
a 9 inch or a 8.8 are the only ford parts we use, we used an 8.8 due to they are easy to find in the junkyards, and it was the right bolt pattern and width. the only gm rears in the JY are 7.5 camaro stuff.
ya some of those ins companies are a ripoff, they start you out somewhat cheap, then slowly start to bleed you dry. best to switch to a diff company every 3 to 5 years.

if i do this I'm getting a 3.8l twin turbo v6 from a GTR because ironically they're both 3.8's just different placement and manufactuers
