You guys have such a special thing going. Keep working together. It’s cool to see two brothers working hard together. Spencer is a great brother to have helping out, you’re lucky Grant.
When you harvest beans, especially very dry, you want to bring your reel up and back. The fingers should just tickle the top enough to lay them on the header. Reel speed is important too. If its too low or too fast it just shells them out before the stems get cut. Just a tip!
Just a peice of advice, when your pulling hoses like that out of tubes like that. It helps if you tape a peice of wire to the end of the hose that your pulling through the tube so it's not a pain to try and snake the new one back in there freely
Good first day guys.. Our draper head eliminated almost all header loss. The expected loss is around 2-3 bu. with the auger heads.. keep on farming and God Bless
Grant you are a breath of fresh air, watching someone work their way through starting grain farming by reading operators manuals and researching 'how too'. Im finding it so hard after 25 years farming, listening to bosses who have never actually read operators manuals, been so arrogant that they disregard evolution and think granddads diary is a better guide. Thanks so much you are restoring my faith in farming you tubers.
A Farm near me started beans last week and they have a big new holland, I like watching your new videos and I like your setup . Hope harvest goes well!
Just a few tips and tricks on setting the combine. 1 if you have pods in the grain tank, turn ur rotor speed down a little and or you could adjust your vanes as well which will make your crop stay in the rotor longer 2. The majority of the beans you see on ground could be header loss. Make sure your real ain't to far down into the beans.
You should try to get a second tractor like a 4440 or 4450 to run the grain carts and for like smaller tillage or for a bush hog or something like that
Thanks Grant and Spence! It's probably too late by now, but I wonder if a pressure tester that auto parts stores loan out for radiator checks could be adapted with a fitting to tell for sure which hose is leaking. Also personally, on a hitch, I'd have an insured welder do it or check it, so liability in case of a road accident doesn't fall back on you guys. Just my cautious side. Thanks for sharing! Great videos! Looking forward to the next one!
Hey guys great video. On our farm had to pull hoses on our head also. Wouldn't be a bad idea to tie a string on hose before you pull it out that way you can pull new hose in with ease.
Grant!!! U really should set up ur real on ur header to match the speed of the combine. We did it will ours and it saves a lot of time and money like if ur moving slow ur real is moving at the same speed at all times and if ur real is moving faster than the machine it is beating the plant around and knocking off pods and ur lossing yeild and money. So I really suggest doing that. Our real speed changes with the speed of the combine so u speed up ur real speeds up and if u slow down ur real slows down.
Good work fella! Tip from experience, next time you pull a hose that’s fed through a tight area like that tie a rope to the end your pulling out, that way you can tie the end of the new hose to the rope and pull it back through
Grant, been watching and following since the FS17 videos. Love everything you got going on. Me and a couple buddies were thinking of possibly touring a couple farm this fall after harvest! We live in Nebraska, and just wanted to check things out! Keep it going!
You should get a @10k bu dryer bin. Or consider a smaller one. I have a neighbor with early beans, leaves his corn till late. So he borrows a box, has me bring my grain cart so weekends he can keep going. There are many under 10k used bins going cheap. While a swing hopper is nice. A 8x51 can run with 7.5 hp single phase to fill bin, empty bin. I finally bought swing tongue. I kinda wish I had not. Not really much easier then strait auger, tractor tied up, you can’t line up by hand…. Wish I never bought it.
When pulling hose thru channel. Tie a twine, lite rope. That makes it easier to pull back fixed hose. That’s a short run, should be ok. If not a tile flag. Stick thru, duct tape hose, pull back.
Aw man I wanted Spencer to look at the camera and say Holy biscuits guys we got beans then do a jig lmao 😂 then grant would say yea haw. Epic video the sunset on you both was magnificent my favorite part
really makes me smile seeing how successfull you are in your 2nd year this is awesome! Really make me happy about my own plans starting a farm! Even though I work on our familyfarm right now.:)
try running the bean header wheel thing with as little speed as possible, and also with the least contact with the crop as possible to improve the header loss some crops u can get away with moving it entirely out the way
You guys are doing great umm one thing I have noticed is when the beans are standing good no need to run the real so low I would run it higher you will have way less header loss
Why would you pull your crops off early? Seems like it won't take you that long to harvest, so you might as well let everything dry out in the field. What are your plans for cover crops this fall? Should have time to put something down.
Hey I don’t know anything really about farming, minus farming sim which I know is nothing really like real life. But for a good Harvest if anyone knows, do you want the crop to be dry or moist/wet when harvesting? Just curious, thanks
As long as no one said stop to you then harvest them whenever you want to harvest. If any, you could always learn from mistakes. I am not a farmer, just my 2 cents. 🤗
@@easternshorefarmer you just back tracked on your statement so fast ha. That's why we can't just hammer it through as you suggest. Right now I can only go a max of 2 mph and 1 direction.
Boy, I can't applaud you both enough. Seeing the smiles on your faces is what life is all about. Hope harvest goes well for you! 🚜🌽🌽
Love how you guys never let things get u down. Sending positivity for a productive season for you guys.

Have safe harvest we’re cutting beans in Indiana yield is doing pretty good

Always love the first day of harvest and the smell of the cab in the John Deere harvester
when I get older I'm going to start a farm you are my inspiration. keep up the great work.

looks like the first day went good. I hope that the rest of harvest goes good for you guys. stay safe.
You guys have a safe harvest!
Keep Smilin!!!!
Nice video looking forward for more harvesting videos!🌽🌽
good luck farmer on all your future harvests
I’m old and still get Really exited at starting a combine and grain dryer , feel 18 again several times a year,!!!!!!!!
Nice job fellas- enjoy watching you grow as farmers!
Good deal hoo you have a good harvest
If you drag trash or something under the head, there is a knob closest to the steering wheel and it will pick up the head without ruining the beans

Living the dream boys, and making a great job off it, excellent 👌
Beans look great. If u cut the beans at an angle not a steep angle and not straight down the rows. It will cut easier. That’s what we do.
You should try to get a second tractor like a 4440 or 4450 to run the grain carts and for like smaller tillage or for a bush hog or something like that
Glad to see you guys back out in the field as a family again it's really neat I hope your harvest goes well we'll be watching be safe.
Nice sunset. Good luck with harvest
Looks like u are going to have a good harvest
68 bushels?! That’s awesome man!
It isn't bad. I would say it is average. I'm disappointed not getting above 70, but I'm greedy ha. We hit 90 the last couple of years.
Spence your doing great as a welder. I’m sure the hitch will be right.

Good luck on the harvest
I love your videos, ever since I started watching them, I have been inspired to become a farmer.
it's nice to see a young man loving to do farming work on your own farm im happy to see it.
Great job boys👊

My favorite saying from now on..."it's like a skittle, an old one."
Grant I can’t tell in the video but if you go at the field at a angle the sickle bar will wear down less on certain spots
Hope y’all have a good harvest!

longer vidz grant... i know its probably hard but it would be nice to see more from ya'll..... great job nun the less!
Good luck
I think mabe you should start looking at a smaller tandem truck to ball your grain instead of the gravity wagons
We’re getting 250 bushel dry in north central Iowa. Wish you boys luck.
Wow!

Great luck to u guys. We are in the field to. Y don’t u guys just haul grain in the dump bed of the military truck. It would prolly work good
I love your vids and content!! Keep up the great work!! Love the channel!!
You guys are doing great umm one thing I have noticed is when the beans are standing good no need to run the real so low I would run it higher you will have way less header loss
Respect you guys, was waiting for this👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾✌🏾🙏🙏
Awesome man,you a grain cart with a scale and a semi.get an old school mack with a pup
Glad to see you running Grant! Just about to start my second harvest on my own too!
Good vid you guys should get some grain bins
I would suggest turning down the reel speed to get less header loss
Grant will you make more merch in the future? Love the vids can’t wait for more 👍🏼👍🏼
Spencer: It was like a skiddle a hard one. 😂
Yoooooooooo more vids on this channell plzzzz I love them soooooo much
Love the vids I grow up on a 14th gin fruit farm
Amazing video
If you get 68 bush or Baker no, I have quite a bit beans.

When is the second tractor going to be added to the farm?
Keep up the work !🚜🌽🌽🌽🌽
Grant you should buy a cabover and a grain trailer :)
Great video Mr grant from Bryer Floyd
Grant we just finished harvest in Canada here because I’m about 5 weeks we’ll be getting snow
Yay first day of harvest
Keep it up man
Good stuff, keep the vids coming!
Thank you for the video.
Love your vids
Great site just found you guys👌
You should add a cool old grain truck to the fleet
Are you ever gonna buy a medium small tractor like a 4430 or 4440 just wondering
Are you gonna put grain in the back of the military truck?
Only thing I’ll say is try harvesting beans at an angle, feeds in better. Everybody does it different though
Let’s go harvest
Any plans to get a truck?
What is the yelled also do you have a dryer for you 🌽 l know what I am doing
great video we all enjoyed it a lot, we wish you both great success on your farm
One thing I've noticed the last couple videos is that hay rack you have in the back corner of the shed. What's going on with that?
Hey I don’t know anything really about farming, minus farming sim which I know is nothing really like real life. But for a good Harvest if anyone knows, do you want the crop to be dry or moist/wet when harvesting? Just curious, thanks
How do you have your iPad set up in there? Like what’s it take for that? Do you use it for planting too?
Sometimes you have to run faster ratger than slower if the head is losing grain
Good video 👍.
Good video Grant, but it was better to see your dad was out helping you again
As long as no one said stop to you then harvest them whenever you want to harvest. If any, you could always learn from mistakes. I am not a farmer, just my 2 cents. 🤗
Hey grant when are you going to get uncle buck down to your farm
Sections! Sickle is what the section set on. Please somebody correct me if I’m wrong. Thank you
When is American farming coming out
You have to go a little faster to force the beans through ur header because ur beating them to death going slow and raise ur reel a little
That also depends on the beans. We green stems going too fast will plug it and if you raise it too much, you will won't pick all the beans up.
@@illinoisfarmer6316 well I’m assuming he uses common sense when he’s cutting wouldn’t you

Let’s go 🎉🎉
Hey, do you run Autotrac on the Combine ? Nice Video Keep it going !
