My man is just RIFFING!!!! I love how he takes time for the lines to land! Totally at ease and in control of the crowd
And still calling it a "war"
Lol he is a comedian way before his TV days. Ppl forget that. It's a reason he is friends with Chappelle etc. Daily show just took him on a diff path
@@nobodyexceptme7794 No one forgot that he's a comedian rofl
@Jebuary127 yet the comment I responded to is literally acting surprised that he is doing what a skilled stand up comedian does.....
"I guess I would've made sure the condors were leashed."
It's always nice to hear a sentence that you know has never previously been spoken or written in the entire history of the English.
Take that ChatGPT! Didn't see that in your training data did you!
Someone doesn't know "Nothing, Forever" the Twitch Seinfeld AI parody🤖
"If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college."
@@BillKarwin Who's to say that LLMs cannot (at least theoretically) output a phrase or sentence that has never been uttered or written before?

Dude, early MTV had such a public access vibe and it was great.
You sure that's not a reference to C-SPAN®?
@@maazkalim
Like early AdultSwim! Agreed.
Please let “cheeseboy” show up in the comments and give us an update.
Honestly I want to see that interview
If John Oliver has anything to say about this, he will find that "boy" and we can be sure to see it there just to mess around with Jon
Dont forget to stay quiet on the 40K+ Jon
Cheeseboy, sure. But I'd really like the condor to pop in here talking about his exploits as of late.
@@WhataMensch How about the $17 million?
As best I can tell from piecing together various tv show records and a blog post from someone who knew him, the guest who bit cheese was Jon Estrada, who went on to MIT and now works for the University of Michigan in Mechanical Engineering.
According to the University of Michigan website, his research interest is "Experimental mechanics of soft and bio-materials." Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't cheese be considered a soft, bio-material? Is he still at the cutting edge of cheese biting research?
@@petebuc9shit,let's hope so.
@@petebuc9 Lol, I've thought about it! We do more "mechanics of biomaterials" now, though. My Ph.D. was in understanding the mechanics of traumatic brain injury at the cell level. There's probably potential for a crossover though! :)

The « real » Cheeseboy?
Cheese Boy!
Can’t wait for Chapter 21 of the Jon Stewart book, “Condors Unleashed”.
Jon is a political comedian, so it will be "Thee Day of the Unleashed Condor"...
I'm here for it! 😜 💵
"I would have made sure the condors were leashed" is the best summary anyone can give for a show.
Jon Stewart is a National Treasure. I could listen to him all day. He's the best!
Yes.
"Please, cheeseboy is my father. Call me Chuck"
😂😂😂😂
That’s Chuck E to you.
MTV was more than just a music channel. it was a cultural movement, a revolution. it was our window to the world
Now it’s just a sad state of its former self....
I'm the same age as Jon, and I started watching him on MTV as well, so way back in the day, lol!
Was it before or after Short Attention Span Theater on Comedy Central (Ha! at the time)?
@@andiward7068 I have to admit, I've never heard of that.
@@just_kos99 I never heard of it but I never watched Ha! so would never have seen it. Plus you can tell the delivery isn't quite as smooth back then (just watched a clip over on YT.)
I could listen to these stories all day.
Me ALSO.
Definitely
“What would you have done differently?”
“…I would have made sure the condors were leashed.”
A quote for the ages!
That was not what was in my top three guesses.
He should have just said that without giving any context.
I'm glad I was there to witness MTV being badass
Elaborate.
I used to rush home from waiting tables at Friendly's so I could get there in time to watch Jon Stewart with my roommate.
It was a pretty chaotic show sometimes but Jon was absolutely the main selling point of the show even back then.
It helped that he had adorable puppy vibes
I remember Eric Stoltz was one of his guests. The inventor of the Pina Colada was in the background with someone helping him make the drinks because the poor guy was so old. Just off to the side of them was Rupert Holmes singing Escape the Pina Colada Song. Eric and Jon drank several Pina Coladas and were hammered by the end of the show. It was great!
Now that is a show! 💵 lol
I remember Concrete Blonde playing live and John was smitten and struggled through the interview but they rocked. Great band.
I remember this one!
That seems cool
Signs that I'm old; I understand what he's talking about.
LOL, I remember watching the episode when the condor flew into the crowd. It was insane.
Totally where I was introduced to Jon Stewart, MTV :)
I stayed up late to watch They Might Be Giants on the Jon Stewart show.
jon stewart is just so effortlessly funny
Moral: Always leash your condors.
And don't invite H.Stern nor M.Manson
I remember cheese boy! He was on Letterman and he accidentally bit his cheek and Dave was really concerned and then the kid held up the cheese and said, "Ohio!"
Condor killed the MTV star.
🎶 "... Video killed the radio star..." 🎶
Someone needs to put on their detective hat and find Cheeseboy! The public deserves to know!
He replied in another comment. Look for "Please let “cheeseboy” show up..."
That sounded like someone describing a crazy dream 😂
They lived it!
This gentleman can spin one heck of a yarn!
Without cell phones and computers it’s hard to explain just how big MTV was when it came out! Every single teen and twenty something in the US and beyond who had access to it watched it. It was a creative original unscripted pop culture phenomenon. I’ve loved Jon Stewart ever since.
Jon has some amazing stories 😂 i need to hear more
I did expect a "what was the question, again?" at the end of the condor story :)
"I guess I woulda made sure the condor's were leashed" Solid life advice
This man could have made it to the top just doing stand-up, Jon is a pro.
I started watching him on MTV, and you can say you knew what he would become from it, but that is hind sight. We're all surprised and happy with what he became. I'm not saying the show was bad, I'm saying its such a crazy trajectory that no one saw coming.
I'm 50 years old, and i remember his show when i was 21 or 22 . and also he came off MTV stand up and an Old Comedy Central series(?) called (i think) "Short Attention Span Theater" and he had a female co- host.
Wasn't there a segment on that show called Monkey Boy?
Omigosh! I loved the boy who ate cheese into the shape of states. I was impressed! I forgot about that kid. 💕
Having seen Jon doing his act, the Q&A part is just as memorable as the written part.
"I guess I woulda made sure the condors were leashed." Wise counsel for the year 2100.
I remember seeing Blind Melon on that show. He had great musical guests.
The first time I ever saw Jon Stewart was reading news updates on MTV
Please have Cheese Boy on your show!!! We want to see Cheese Boy!!!!! LOL!
should definitely bring out Cheese Man to the show and see how he's doing
this is a masterclass in comedy
Jon’s assessment of MTV was on point. His ‘wit and wisdom’ shined brightly on the condor story😂😂😂
That is going to be my response every time anything goes chaotic or I’m asked what I would have done differently from now on. It’s perfect in any situation.
I used to LOVE the jon stewart show when mtv was cool!! So many bands he had including the early days of the cranberries, that dog, local H, and so many more!!
The 90s was the best decade.
Stewart was wildin' back in the day! I mean he's still a beast but more of a silver fox 😅
A silver fox that wont call something what it is.
Fun fact: that condor was British and went on to give birth to John Oliver
UNLEASH THE CONDORS! 🎉
The NEW rallying cry for 2024!
MTV began August 1st 1981
Yep, my 11th birthday. We went to my aunt's house, because she was the only one with cable tv, and watched it go live with the Buggles song. Epic day. My older female cousins were wildly excited. MTV was a huge part of my generations lives. I wish someone would buy it, and turn it back to what it was.
Reality TV is what happened to MTV. It made them too much money to keep doing the music stuff.
Yeah, The Real World killed MTV, then the rest of TV went downhill with it.
Jon (Leash the Condors!) Stewart.
Kinda catchy I think.
😂
Jon Stewart is a national treasure. I wish he would run for President.
That was a great spontaneous stand-up. I guess Jon's life just lends itself to comedy. 😂
I have been along for this ride starting back then as well.
Remote control was awesome!
Colin Quinn!
@@dceplay Medicine Woman! Wait, no.
Always, ALWAYS, keep your Condor leashed.
There's a leash law, don't you know.
I was a viewer too. The weird lame duck era between when he announced the show was canceled and the actual last show had a crazy energy. Jon started giving away stuff from the office. Framed pics of guests that had been on like a month and a half before.
I'd hoped he'd explain to the young'uns that MTV was created to play videos and related artist news--no reality shows
"In the bird world, I'd be badass"
Not too late to be a late avian furry, Jon. ^^
John Oliver has already won that crown! First as the voice of Zazu in The Lion King & then dressing up as a Pūteketeke to garner the vote landslide to crown it New Zealand's Bird of the Century. 😅
I need to see that footage! 😄
Unless there's two people who eat cheese in to the shape of states at that time - he's like mid-30's maybe 40, and I only remember that because I remember seeing him on 'Figure it Out' on Nickelodeon back in the day in the mid-late 90's and I was around the same age. Kinda crazy that the second Jon mentioned it my brain actually immediately able to recall watching that.
The first time I saw Jon Stewart was during an Apocalypse Now parody on his late night show. I remember laughing sooooooooo hard 😂😂😂😂😂
The Jon Stewart Show on MTV was the only thing on TV at the time that I considered appointment tv. I cleared my calendar for that show. I absolutely loved it, and I honestly think I never watched MTV again after they canceled the show. Not so much a boycott, it was just the end of MTV having anything on the channel that I found entertaining.
Just when I thought he wasn’t going to answer the actual question she posed😂
He repelled her guilt trip attempt with A CONDOR ATTACK
Jon's MTV show had some great live band performances. I used to record them to VHS and I probably still have the tape stashed somewhere. Also one of the best / most awkward interviews was with Jennifer Aniston because I think Jon was doing the late-night-host-flirt-with-guest thing, and she was just not into it.
Well, to be fair, Jon Stewart is NOT Craig Ferguson. LOL
Ferguson also had a great band, they were just very shy.
Yep, me too. MTV baby! We had MTV from day one at my house. My dad was obsessed & insisted we have it.
Incredible, sounds like a wild ride "Sue them!"
I love this man for his perspective and saves animals too..❤
I’m European, so I watched MTV Europe back then. Even though MTV Europe back then was wonderful, I’m sad now that I never got to watch Jon’s show. 😂
I just remember watching the MTV show, laughing heartily, and thinking “Jon is too smart for MTV.”
I could watch three hours of this a week
Ha, I used to watch him on MTV back in the day too 😅
I can’t say this enough. I’m so glad he’s back. Back home.
Oh my Stewart. The commercial that came on right after the clip was "want a job as a cheese sculptor? We're not the school for you"
Man, how the tables turn. Jon Stewart has aged much better than Howard Stern in every sense.
Where's the condor footage???
This is literally a standup set! 😆
Stewart must’ve been wild back in the day
First saw John on MTV in 1994. I remember his sidekick reminded me of a slightly dumber version of Kramer from Seinfeld. And no, the cheese boy wouldn’t be 50 quite yet - maybe in 5 to 10 years. Late night tv in my early early 20’s was the best!
Now ita i love corn 😂😂
I remember the Marilyn Manson and mug-smash episode. I was very high, and it was the best television I had ever seen at the time.
Do you remember who smashed the mug?
@@talisman13 I think it was Chris O'Donnell, but I'm not 100% confident in my memory.
WHERE IS CHEESE BOY, WE MUST KNOW
I loved his MTV show, and his Arsenio fill-in show...somehow, I remember Jon in a black leather jacket back then.........!!! 😜❤
81…memories 😂
Can we change our national bird to the condor?? Unleashed, of course...
I cannot stop laughing at the condor thing
Jon Stewart on you wrote it you watch it with the state performing the letters that were sent in was peak tv and made me a forever fan of Jon Stewart
Man, sometimes I miss the 90’s….
I liked that show. Mellower than the others, and seemed genuine.
Leash the Condor! Words to live by.
I remember your MTV show I was a wee lad, 11 i think? My mom was not a fan 😂😂😂😂
I watched his MTV show. It was on at 2:00AM I worked nights and got home in time to relax a few before it was on. I do remember the first show with Howard Stern. What I thought was freakin awesome was he had King's X on for a music guest. He also had Toad The Wet Sprocket as well. I proudly admit I was a big fan of that show and I was bummed out when it was taken off. I had no clue though what an awesome future Jon Stewart had ahead of him and what was to come.
We all sprinted home from highschool to catch the premiere of MTV 😂😂😂
Cool vid
Condors can actually have wingspans over 10ft, and their bodies alone can stand almost 5 feet tall.
I started watching Jon when he hosted a show called "You Wrote It, You Watch It" with the cast of The State.
A nice reminder that he started as a stand up comic😜
I watched "You Wrote it, You Watch It', MTV was so fun when I was a kid
