  • Check out the game-changing Epson Ecotank printer series. I have used one for over a year now, and we just used a single tank of black ink, over the entire year!
Here is a link to my new ET02760, which includes double-sided printing.

Over a year of use, in a heavy printing household on a single ink refill. Amazing!

I love the fact that they are not hiding the amount of ink you have like all the others are. The (the others that pull a cover-up, or wool over your eyes, etc...) other printers tell you that you are low on ink when you, really, still have half a tank left!

Yea, they did first series Epson Ecotank ET-2550 August 2015 first model ET with transculanet ink and bottle were messy that time squeezing it until years by years improved ET system+bottle. Epson did great as Japan ridden of old inkjet no more and Epson ink tank is better than other brand cause they the first to do it imagine 2015 and 9yrs ago they had idea 2012.

The printer is unusable, after 2 to 3 years after only a few thousand pages the error message appears that the cleaning sponge needs to be replaced! And the error message must be reset in the software. Only Epson can do that, and you don't get a reset code by email. In the EU, "maintenance" costs around € 120, a cheek. Anyone who prints a lot should use an office laser.

I bought an Epson L-355 in May of 2015. Best purchase I ever made. I also bought a somewhat newer model a couple of years ago for a friend who makes dozens of art printst on it. Both are still working perfectly. We run ours on wifi. Best purchase I ever made, and my fingers are no longer rainbow-colored .

Thank you for reviewing this! I just got mine last week and I LOVE it! I bought a regular printer and I am not kidding, within 50 pages the ink would start to get light and blurry and the money I spent on ink was insane. I have printed at least 100 pages on my new Ecotank, they are crisp and clear, and I've barely budged the ink levels!

I print newsletters for a club and have been through the color lasers, refilling toner, then to hacked continuous feed inkjet with clumsy filling and hassle. I saw this Epson come onto the market and decided to give it a try. I found a refurbished model, and boy am I hooked. Since then I have set one up for a small auto workshop and have 2 other friends bought them on my recommendation. Can't believe it when I asked the autoshop owner about his printer, and he says "I love my printer!" You never hear that, ever, until the Epson.

I got this model after my old one stopped communicating with Wi-Fi and the drivers were too old to support my computer. It basically bricked so I tossed it/gave it away and bought this model refurbished. I’m cheap too. I can’t believe how excited I am about a printer, but it’s akin to having a really old phone, then upgrading. I also like that it’s more compact than my prior Epson. That said, I’m not impressed with the printing quality, but I have it primarily for printing labels and scanning. Thanks for the great review.

@kennethlau2034 about 100 so far. Thats mostly pages with text, but i have done a few A4 colour photos printed on glossy paper too. I'm just having problems getting it to work with the main software for my work, but I think it's the old laptop at fault rather then the printers fault. Anyway the ink hasn't hardly dropped at all, maybe a millimetre but no more, which is really amazing. When I've had Epson or Brother printers with cartridges in the past, 100 pages would have used a third of the ink in the cartridge.

I watched this video about a month ago and was hooked mainly on the fact of being able to re-fill the tanks from the ink bottles. I have always disliked the ink catridge types mainly on the cost and
environmental issues. Also I felt that the huge price difference on buy catridges from the printer manufacutrer or from a third party supplier copy did infuriate me. So I began doing more info gathering on the ECO - Tank range from Epson. Not an easy task as there are so many models. Ending up purchasing a virtually new printer from a young guy who had purchased it but no longer needed it. I was cautious and made sure he demonstrated it but it was pristine and printed well - an unused extra set of bottles was thrown in ! I am very pleased with it so far and the quality is okay and the printing speed is far better than my older machine. So thanks for your video - helped me make a good decision. Another thing you may find is that if you do find you need more ink and decide to get ink from one of the many alternative
brands you won't get those annoying messages 'we see you are not using ****** ink' do you wisht to continue. As there are no electronic bits on the filler ports/nozzles. I maybe off the mark there but I think that is the case.

The reason they died was because the waste reservoir was full. Now have an ET-3850. It prints better and faster, but more importantly, has an access door to allow replacement of the reservoir. At $14, wonderful! Not to mention user friendly. I expect this printer will outlast the two previous ones. These things are so cheap to operate.

    EDIT (a year later):
Soon after I posted this, my ET-2550 became nothing but a scanner after something in the drive mechanisms broke and throws paper jam errors. It no longer prints. I don't mind throwing away those $70 inkjets after a couple of years, but this and all the leftover ink was a waste.
    Old comment:
My year-old ET-2550 has saved me at least a couple hundred bucks on ink cartridges in that time, even though I only print sporadically. BUT: you must print regularly!
It'll clog up and you'll spend 10 minutes testing, cleaning and burning ink if you let it sit around. I guess the same thing can happen with cartridge printers, but I never noticed it as much as this thing. Even a couple of weeks idle seems to clog it. Most busy people might not go that long, but I bet many of us digital people go weeks without needing anything on paper.
My solution: I made a habit of printing a weekly calendar and to do list. Handy, and sometimes more effective than even the best to app.
And a couple of sheets with some colored text seems to solve the clogging issues without burning as much ink as the cleaning process.

For EPSON, it will. For hp, the clogged printing head will be gone with the old catridges.

I had read in some reviews a while back that other people had the same problem with the Epson Ecotank. The eco-tank is a great idea but it seems the problem is, the printer itself is still the cheap disposable that Epson and all the printer manufacturers make.

Thanks for the video. I have been following the evolution of these tank style printers, and the cost is coming down. My household does not print a lot of stuff but even so getting the cartridges refilled at Costco adds up $$.

well use you`re brain and just buy compatible cheap cartridges a lot are no different to proper Epson ones, here in the uk I only pay £2.99 for a full set have done the last few years and I print photos and pics etc

@@marklola12 following the last update, my printer will no longer print with compatible cartridges, or refilled original ones. The message reads, previously genuine, refilled cartridge. Or, counterfeit cartridge, please insert genuine "brand name " cartridge to continue. It just sits refusing to print. As soon as I fit a new, genuine cartridge it works.

Years ago, growing up, my family had a standard inkjet printer. It always seemed to be dry whenever we wanted to do the occasional print, and cartridges cost a lot. When we were looking for an upgrade years ago, a color toner printer was the obvious choice.
However, today I learned about the existence of Refillable inkjets such as Epson ecotanks. The ink tanks seem pretty cheap, but how is its operating costs compared to a toner printer? (I don't care if toner/ink replacements are expensive, if it lasts a lot of prints. Aka unit pricing rather than absolute pricing)

I love the idea of an echo system. I have purchased a variety of printers of the years. HP, Canon larger format and Epson. Is there an echo system printer that uses a larger format?
Having WiFi is also great especially when there are other family members who wish to print from other places in the house. Thanks for you all you offer in your presentations.

Hi Steve, fantastic video, loads of useful information. I just recently got the EcoTank ET=2850. It seemed to get overall good reviews, the genuine inks were reasonably priced and were larger than some of the other manufacturers of ink tank printers. The maintenance cartridge (which is there to catch ink from when head cleaning takes place) is user replaceable and is very cheap, whereas on some brands of printer it needs to be sent away to get replaced and at a considerable cost too. Whether or not I would need to replace the maintenance cartridge is unsure, but its good to know its user replaceable and very cheap if it does.
First impressions are very good. Easy set up as was the ink refilling, really nice sharp text printouts. Briefly tried some graphics printout and I was very impressed also. The scanner seems very good as is the photocopying (both of which I use from time to time). I photocopied the included quick start guide that came with the printer which is in black-and-white and the photocopy I did looked darker and more bold and clear than the original document, which really impressed me. Hopefully this will last me for many years as we are not heavy users.

Good video. I am so happy that I bought my EcoTank. At first I looked at the price and I thought to my self that its way over priced but I bought it because I figured why not see why people like it. I have printed some photos that I took at events and it would have been very expensive to print.
I love it and I would recommend getting one to people that I know

Steve, I researched printers, landed on Epson due to ecological reasons and eventually the cost saving in ink. You were the key to all other concerns I may have had about "the tank". watching you put it together was essential and a game changer. My problem now is two fold: 1. am confused about linking printer with my smart phone and the 2760 printer. Am also a bit confused as to how this new 2760 does a 2 sided document; but more importantly, I can only put 30 pages of printer paper in the top of the machine to print copies. the year you had the 2700 ET Epson, was the amount of paper fairly consistent to my 2760 (30 pp) and did that work well for you or did you fairly often have to put in more paper OR STOP printing in the middle because the printer ran out of paper? I actually became quite concerned with the fragile nature of the printer. Anything you can say to me...or suggest, especially about connecting my cell and MacBk Pro to the printer would remove ever so much anxiety and disappointment. I nearly called the store to ask if I could exchange the printer for the 3760...most because of the top loading 30 pp maximum and my concern about the 2760 being able to truly do double sided without me manually needing to assist. Thanks for ANYTHING you can suggest. Thank you for your show and your wonderful way of "teaching" people like me. Signed a "Worry Wart" Canuk

Great general information. Well presented. Audio was clear enough without ambient room sound. So it was easy on the ears. I'm looking forward to seeing some tweaking procedures if you choose to do some. I can't find on line help for the ET 4760 color intensity. I dumped my HP Laser for this one. I like it. It's way smaller and seems to have great potential but that color is just not up to par. I'm low end tech capable though. Need a vid. As a voiceover guy, I cringed at "eck cetera" instead of the actual pronunciation, but I'm nit picky that way. Great job.

Will Epson ET printers work in COPY mode (in black only) when one of the color tank goes empty? I have a Epson L5190 for 2 years and used 7 bottles of black ink (65ml) but CMYs are still halfway.

I gave up on using my inkjet printer years ago. Because I print so infrequently, I’ll print one page, and the ink dries out before the next time I try. That’s about $30 for one page of print. I print at stores now for less than a hundredth of the cost.

Over time, I've learned to use the library printer because of this very reason, I print maybe 10 pages per year. Before I started doing this, it would cost nearly $60 for refill my printer with ink. Though I am tempted with this eco tank printer.

That was exactly my experience! First time, was like what!!! the ink expired!!! LOL I spent $30 on a printer back in the day thinking wow what a sweet deal, only to find the ink would cost almost $60. Only needed black ink for my school papers but the printer required I also have color otherwise it did not printe. Now that is some major BS!!!
