I'm told the ET-15000 cannot do 13x19 borderless, just 13x19 with border. Is that true? I'd like for it to be 13x19 borderless using "presentation paper" settings (using the full nozzle, not the same as vivid on regular paper)
Hi, thank you for your videos. I appreciate all the information. I’m looking into the 3850 currently and worried about the maintenance box I saw in other reviews with the eco tank line up in the past. If/when it gets to that end of life point, where might I be able to purchase a maintenance box and is it easy to do the replacement myself (just unscrew, etc.). I’m not very techy and handy but can manage unscrewing stuff and follow instructions. Would you be able to do a vid on the maintenance box (how to change, where to get if easily accessible, what it looks like, etc.)? Again, thank you 🙏🏼 .
I am curious about how fade resistant these particular inks are. Epson used to use pigment based inks, in all these reviews the quality and longevity of the prints seems ignored.
So if I print less than say 200 black pages and just as many color pages a month and send/receive 20 faxes a month I should not buy a Eco Tank printer? some printer manufacturers are not allowing off market ink cartridges to be placed in their printers, and a single color name brand ink cartridge could run $35. replacing just 3 different color cartridges a year would be $105 What is a Home Printer gal to do? Really I need advice
What I have not seen anyone talk about is archival printing; How long does the printed ink last on paper? Does it degrade in a few years and fade away? Im not printing stuff thqats being thrown away. Id like to be able to print archival prints with a sytsem like the ecotank.
It uses pigment ink for the ecotanks. Dye ink lasts 25 years with good quality paper and proper storage. Pigment ink can last up to 100 years with quality paper and proper storage.
Good video! Can you please explain the difference between an Epson Workforce Super Tank and an Eco tank? Do you review the WF C2100 printer? Is it an older model to the ET 2850 or 3850?
I still enjoy making personalized music and movie discs and I love the feature which allows me to print my original designs straight on the discs with printable surfaces! But the old Epson printer I’m currently using for this task does not have a maintenance tank. It will reach the end of its service life one day. Does the ET 3850 have the feature to print on optical discs with a printable label surface? Does Epson even still make printers that print on optical discs?
This is very good information for me. This is the direction I will go. For many years I have used HP printers. They are very expensive to use and are not reliable at all.
How would you compare print quality between the epson eco tank, the HP and the Canon color printers? I’m looking for best quality color printing with a speed comparison as well. Thx
Hi i wanna start doing business cards with 250 gsm paper and flyer printing. And i heard i can do sublimation with these printers.. would you mind recommending me.. a printer
@@BestPrinters strange. Maybe I didn’t hit the right buttons for it. Using the automatic feeder it only scanned one side and printed that side. I didn’t see an option aside from 1-2, which required reloading the scanned document to the second side.
Very helpful video. I was thinking of getting an eco tank printer so I can print as much homeschool stuff I want. I plan on traveling in a travel trailer full-time and wanted to know if you recommend an eco tank? Is there a better printer for traveling around?
Hi Heather, that is a great question and congrats on homeschooling! I would recommend the Eco Tank in this case not because it would be easy to lug around while traveling but because it will have all the features you will need for the type of printing and capabilities you will need in a printer.
I have an et2850 and it's been nothing but a nightmare. Epson doesn't care at all and has refused for years to fix the issue. If you pay THAT MUCH for a NEW printer, you damn sure should get something that works out of the box.
Hi Brandon, my name is Gianina. Last January 2023, I purchased an Epson Ecotank 3830. I decided to purchase this after watching your reviews and tutorials. I am very very happy with my printer. I am thinking of purchasing my first set of refill inks. The link you provide is EZ inks. However, this is not available here in Canada. Can you please provide me another link which is just as good as the link you provide? Thank you!
Do you know if Epson is going to release a Win 11 compatible printer? I didn't see it named in the OS details. Also, Apple will be releasing there new MAC OS Ventura very soon.
The software/firmware upgrade process is very bad. My printer is Et-4760. The 1st time firmware upgrading got me into recovery mode, which can be corrected by connected to USB and run a firmware recovery tool. The 2nd time it get me into copy mode only. Printing and scan function are gone. And no way to reset back. Be aware the software upgrading request. I think you are better never upgrade software/firmware. The other issue is wireless signal is very weak, it won't even connect wireless 6 feet away for my unit.
Hello! You really covered a lot in this video, and also in the model 3850 video! You answered a lot of questions that I had and I really appreciate that!. We're debating between the 3850 and 4850, trying to decide whether we need the fax capability. Here are a few questions for you. I want to verify that both models can handle card stock. Weights are not mentioned in the specifications, and you did mention that they can, but please verify for both models. Also, will they both handle acetate (transparencies). I really need that capability. Then finally, the specs on both state that they scan to computer and cloud. Does that require an additional cable, or not? Then, the 4850 can scan to a memory device, so is there a USB port on that model? Your help is greatly appreciated, and I'm sure I'll be back to your channel for more info!
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY ANY EPSON ECO TANK PRINTER. I made the mistake of not doing more research. This printer - along with most of Epson's ecotank printer has an ink waste tank. The more you use the printer the faster this ink waste tank will fill up. Doing print-head cleanings and power cleanings will fill these waste tanks even faster! (also keep in mind ---- the nozzles clog a lot so you'll be doing many printhead cleanings). Once it becomes full a message will pop up onto your printers screen telling you that the ink waste tank is at its "end of life" and needs to be sent to Epson to get it serviced. You will be able to print for a bit longer after that if you ignore the message but it will pop up again and it will refuse to print anymore until you get it serviced by an Epson specialist. There are ways to reset the ink tank yourself but you need to do your research online and it's kinda sketchy and will cost you money every time you need to reset it. I do an insane amount of printing everyday for my business so I need to pay to get this reset much more often ( keep that in mind). There is also the worry of your waste ink tank really becoming full and if you keep using it you may damage your printer. There are also ways around this but you need to do your research here as well! UA-cam and google is your friend. If you've read this and still decide to buy this printer - I will say - Good luck. It's an awesome printer while it lasts. Epson probably has this info in very very fine print somewhere but who really reads the fine print.
As Christoph mentioned, all but the first generation ecotank devices have a user-servicable maintenance box. It costs around 11EUR. This is no different from the excess toner boxes laser printers have.
You should also discuss the fact that the the printheads are the most expensive parts for both Epson and Brother printers. To some extent you may be able to clean the printheads of these 3 brands of printer but once cleaning the printheads no longer works, let the people know how expensive these parts are plus the service fee for installing them. Canon's printheads are builtin onto the cartridges itself, so once you tried cleaning it and still doesn't work, just throw it away and buy a new cartridge. As for me, I only buy empty Canon cartridges and refill them myself.
How old is your Canon? Because pretty much all modern inkjets have a separate printhead nowadays for cost reasons. As in: it's more cost-effective for the printer vendor to sell cartridges for the same price, but without a printhead.
@@joergsonnenberger6836 My Canon MP499 is 13 years old already and is still kicking. Separate heads from the tanks still doesn't mean that the printheads will work extra long, NO they still have the same life span
@@meditationrelaxationandhea4403 Yeah, if it is 13 years old, it certainly is before the move to separate print heads from the cartridges as cost saving measurement. Do you have any data to support the claim that a separate print head lasts as long as the ones integrated into print heads? Because what I can find suggests quite different, e.g. > 20k pages is not something a cartridge print head is designed to handle.
You show the Maintenance Box for the 2850 in the other video "Epson ET 2850 Unboxing Setup & Review" Now you said 2850 doesn't have a Maintenance Box???
About the ET 3850 model: you mentioned that it can scan double-sided via ADF. That is incorrect because this particular model's ADF can only scan one-sided. It appears you are making videos (titled "should you buy...?") by just reading spec sheets and without even testing the functionality of printers.
I really like the concept but till they make a printer that the user can remove the print head to clean it I won't buy another Epson. I don't print often enough to keep the ink from drying up in the head. It's a real hassle to clean the heads even with a decent cleaning kit. If you print a lot you probably will never have that problem and they'd work great for you. If you can easily remove the head it would be easy to clean the head with the cleaning kit or any other way you want to try.
I'm running into the same problem with a ET-2760, but you can create what some people call a "ink purge sheet" in a word-processing document and print a couple copies every couple of days and it will prevent that problem -- the purge sheet is stripes of pure color in the Bk, Y, C. M hues, and it runs ink from each nozzle thru the print head to keep them from blocking. Also, there is a trick you can use to clean the Epson print head IN the machine -- you can do a google search to find the guy that shows how to do this.
The current printer we have just prints out garbage when we try to connect any devices to it, and we really can’t afford the Cartridges anymore. Even if I do manage to connect a device to it, it’ll still try to print garbage instead of what we send to it. It takes a lot of messing around to get it to print a single document. 😖 We have one of these printers being delivered and we’re looking forward to trying it, no expensive cartridges, hopefully no more paper wastage either, whoopee!
The 2850 only copies or scans 8.5 x 11 vs. 8.5 x 14 /legal size for the 3850 and 4850. This is a very important consideration that you missed. Great video otherwise!
It has nothing to do with companies wanting to make inl chraper. They are actually trying to compete eith the aftermarket ciss type kits. Thing is. The 90 times the ink in a cartridge is way misleading. Each cartridge generally holds between 5 and 10 mils thus each bottle of ink should be close to if not 1 litre
Well, the standard Epson ink cartridge contains ~3ml of ink and the Epson 104 bottles contain 65ml, that's a factor of 20. The former can cost 12-15EUR and the latter costs 7-8EUR. So overall, a factor of 40 is realistic.
Hi! Do you know if there are any major differences between the Epson ET 3850 and 3830? I watched your video and wanted to get the Epson Ecotank 3850 but Bestbuy has it out of stock in my area BUT they do have the 3830. I know the main difference is the touch screen, but other than that do you know of there being any other difference?
I clean mine by taking the 4 cartridges out of the printer head one at a time. Use a piece of aquarium air tubing. I blow the ink out using the tube :)

I'm told the ET-15000 cannot do 13x19 borderless, just 13x19 with border. Is that true? I'd like for it to be 13x19 borderless using "presentation paper" settings (using the full nozzle, not the same as vivid on regular paper)
It should be able to.
Yes, here is a video on the maintenance box, ua-cam.com/video/my7F4aK_6tg/v-deo.html
Why don't the ink levels show up on my ET 3710 printer?
I'm not sure, it could be a system malfunction.
I am curious about how fade resistant these particular inks are. Epson used to use pigment based inks, in all these reviews the quality and longevity of the prints seems ignored.
need more info on 2850 lack of maintaiace box
My 2850 seems to have a panel at the back which can be unscrewed which seems to hold the waste ink in some pads.
Hi, I would just get an inexpensive HP Envy printer model if I were you.
The ET 4850 has touch screen panel and fax where the ET 3850 does not have touch screen or fax.
That is correct, thank you.
For the most part the Epson Eco Tank line up does not have a tray to print on discs. Your best bet would be the Epson ET 8500, amzn.to/3iEMHa6
This is very good information for me. This is the direction I will go. For many years I have used HP printers. They are very expensive to use and are not reliable at all.
Your info really was helpful, but I never heard back from my comment/questions earlier this week, so I ordered from another source.
Sorry!
Hi! Could you cover a review of Epson EcoTank L6160, L6260 and L6270? Thanks!
I will try!
Is the brother MFC-J6555DW as good?
It might be
How would you compare print quality between the epson eco tank, the HP and the Canon color printers? I’m looking for best quality color printing with a speed comparison as well. Thx
Epson by far is the best in my opinion
@@BestPrinters thanks!
Hi i wanna start doing business cards with 250 gsm paper and flyer printing. And i heard i can do sublimation with these printers.. would you mind recommending me.. a printer
Yes the Epson Et 3850 would be great for you. Here is the link, geni.us/TjU2N
Do neither the ET 3850 or 4850 do double sided scanning? Bought a 3850 (and my mother returned it) because of this
They do, you have to use the automatic document feeder though.
@@BestPrinters strange. Maybe I didn’t hit the right buttons for it. Using the automatic feeder it only scanned one side and printed that side. I didn’t see an option aside from 1-2, which required reloading the scanned document to the second side.
Automatic duplex scanning is only on ET-5800 and up
@@marshallb5210 ah I see
Are these printer good for crafters? I’m looking for another printer that’s affordable lol and they have various of prices.
Yes they will do well with crafting.
@@BestPrinters Thank you for your reply to Heather, helpful for more of the homeschooling community 😀
@@springrain777 ….You don’t want to tilt the printer or the ink will leak out. (See picture on box)
@@stephenfiore9960 OK, thank you very much Stephen!
Do you know if the ET-4800 have a maintenance box? I cant find it in the manual and its currently cheaper than the 38 series
Yes it does.
@@BestPrinters thanks. I just found out the 3830 prints faster than the 4800 so I'm leaning to buying 3830 over the 4800.
Great review. You mention in your video that the 3850 includes a touch screen but according to Epson’s website it doesn’t?
That is correct, only the 4850 has a touchscreen.
With the EcoTank ET-2820 is it possible to keep printing black & white after it finishes the colors?
No, the system doesnt allow for that.
@@BestPrinters is there any way around to keep printing with only black&white?
How is the detail on the smallest print?
The 4850 has the best print resolution, so the smallest prints would do best on that one.
Does the Epson 8500 have FAX capability?
Yes
Bravo Brandon! Extremely helpful video information!! 👏👍😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Very helpful
My pleasure!
I have an et2850 and it's been nothing but a nightmare. Epson doesn't care at all and has refused for years to fix the issue. If you pay THAT MUCH for a NEW printer, you damn sure should get something that works out of the box.
tru
Hi Brandon, my name is Gianina. Last January 2023, I purchased an Epson Ecotank 3830. I decided to purchase this after watching your reviews and tutorials. I am very very happy with my printer. I am thinking of purchasing my first set of refill inks. The link you provide is EZ inks. However, this is not available here in Canada. Can you please provide me another link which is just as good as the link you provide? Thank you!
Have you printed photos with it? If so, are they good quality?
Do you know if Epson is going to release a Win 11 compatible printer? I didn't see it named in the OS details. Also, Apple will be releasing there new MAC OS Ventura very soon.
Good question Cathy, Windows 11 and the new MAC OS will be able to connect to most printer models. Even much older printers over 10 years old.
I don't think there are any changes in the driver interface between Win10 and Win11.
In the manual of ET3830, the ink says 502 series. Can we use the 512 and the 522 series?
Excellent video and extremely helpful information thank you.
Very welcome!
Hello, I have an Ecotank 4700 and I use it for sublimation and it’s only printing black and sometimes faded. Can you please help
Yes follow the steps in this video, your printhead is clogged. ua-cam.com/video/XkiUcoywbdE/v-deo.html
You use sublimation or eco solvent ink?
Does 3850 print borderless photos?
Yes it does. You just have to use the right settings.
@@BestPrinters Thank you for getting back to me! 😊
Great video. Helpful information!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, thank you for subscribing! Yes i would go with the 4850, its better to have the xtra features than not to.
Can anyone tell me what sublimation ink to use for my eco tank 3843?

Thank you for providing this information for others. The end goal is for everyone to make a well balanced decision.
Thankj you, any suggestion what is the best printer that you dont have to worry printing?
The so called "maintenance box" could be ordered and changed with no need to send in.
As Christoph mentioned, all but the first generation ecotank devices have a user-servicable maintenance box. It costs around 11EUR. This is no different from the excess toner boxes laser printers have.
I was looking to buy a Epson L3250 or the Canon G3160. The canon G3160 has a replaceable ink waste tank. Should I go with the canon or the epson one?
Which EcoTank printer will handle 64# card stock?
I am not sure most likely a higher end Eco Tank.
Can you just print a test page ever so often to keep the printhead from drying out if you don't print very often?
Yes that will work
@@BestPrinters thank you

No unfortunantely, we have tried to get into the Uk market but have faced many set backs.
@@BestPrinters noooo! I’m gutted. I’m gonna have to throw away my beloved 3620 printer. Thank you for the reply. Love your videos
Great video! The 2850 does not print double sided automatically compared to the 3850
Yes, thank you!
Does the 3850 print double sided from the ADF. I can’t find the answer anywhere
You show the Maintenance Box for the 2850 in the other video "Epson ET 2850 Unboxing Setup & Review" Now you said 2850 doesn't have a Maintenance Box???
Which other video?
@@BestPrinters "Epson ET 2850 Unboxing Setup & Review" I put it in the message before.
You make a good point.
Just use a laser printer, ink printers are for people printing a lot.
What printer did you go with it?
Thank you Brother! I appreciate it.
You bet!
The current printer we have just prints out garbage when we try to connect any devices to it, and we really can’t afford the Cartridges anymore. Even if I do manage to connect a device to it, it’ll still try to print garbage instead of what we send to it. It takes a lot of messing around to get it to print a single document. 😖
We have one of these printers being delivered and we’re looking forward to trying it, no expensive cartridges, hopefully no more paper wastage either, whoopee!
I wish you the best of luck
Great instructions - Thank $

My brother bought a epson et-2600
Nice
edit, 2600 was before the 2700's just traded mine in today
Nice
I don’t print that often
I might go weeks without printing
Well that cause me to clean more often
Yes potentially.
The 2850 only copies or scans 8.5 x 11 vs. 8.5 x 14 /legal size for the 3850 and 4850. This is a very important consideration that you missed. Great video otherwise!
Thank you.
Excellent Info!
Thanks for watching!
Ok
Well, the standard Epson ink cartridge contains ~3ml of ink and the Epson 104 bottles contain 65ml, that's a factor of 20. The former can cost 12-15EUR and the latter costs 7-8EUR. So overall, a factor of 40 is realistic.
Tge printer head is what will get you 2 yrs out and will be non replacing or if so will cost almost a new printer
Ok
yes liked it a lot more please . uk scotland
Ok
Wal-Mart is way cheaper with these printers across the board, sometimes almost half the price.
Thanks for sharing.
Disappointed that you have not stressed that low volume user would be best served by passing on an eco tank printer.
Not true, the 2850 model or 2800 would do just fine with low volume.
Hi, there really is no difference. It is just a variation of the 3850 so it will be almost identical.
Have you used an Epson Ecotank?
I clean mine by taking the 4 cartridges out of the printer head one at a time. Use a piece of aquarium air tubing. I blow the ink out using the tube :)
Nice!
