What you’re showing here, Cory, (or at least my interpretation of it) is the kind of workflow everyone should get to know - it’s almost like sketching in orchestral music. Get the core ideas out first, structure the piece, get it to its desired length and then add complexity in layers as you continue. If you make things too complex at the beginning, you’ll get lost and may end up having to rewrite or abandon your work.
Oh cool lesson. I saw Anze Rozman teaches what is called the Meharte method. Melody, harmony, rhthym, texture. Is worth looking into. This was a great video thanks. Is always good to know more songwriting methods.
Excellent work as always, can’t wait for the other demonstrations of this method so I can further implement this workflow. Not only that the demo sounds fantastic as always, honestly never disappointed in your music.
Do you find that owning too many sample libraries available to you, gets in the way of the creative process? I find myself spending more time tweaking templates than actually writing music these days... I remember back in the day, when I had 16 note poly available to the entire track, so I had to be careful how many notes I played at the same time. Also had a limitation of 8 tracks to play with on the sequencer, and then I could bounce another 9 on top of that using my 4-track tape. Stupid thing is - I was way more productive back then...
