    If you have one of those cheap ATX cases that are almost the same with some slight changes on chassis cutouts and screw holes, and you don't really use HDD/Sata powered SSD's, you can remove the metal casing that's used to support those storage devices next the PSU, which frees up the entire bottom compartment, almost making a wind tunnel for your bottom front fan.
    I had 3 spares fans, so I put 2 on the bottom and my GPU ran cooler on idle/low temps where the fans are typically stopped or on low speeds because of fan start-stop tech/curves.
    However, on load situations they don't really seem to do anything besides helping push the hot air out and building static pressure inside the case, at least from my experience. So if you have a few extra fans, and all the other fan slots full, I'd put them on. If not, I don't really think it's a necessity but more of an option that you have.

  • @thatwannabe98
    @thatwannabe98 5 місяців тому +1

    It makes a lot more sense to me to have the fans on the top and bottom as he’s describing rather than on the sides, but then again that might not make that much of a difference. It depends on how small the space of air is inside. The smaller the empty space, the less it matters. For a bigger case it might make a difference

  • @AtomicNuke-gn3qm
    @AtomicNuke-gn3qm 5 місяців тому +15

    Actually, not necessarily. Depends on GPU Fan orientation. If you have a decent AiO, realistically your GPU is likely to be your hottest component. You want to orient your bottom fans to support your GPU fans.
    Keep in mind most GPUs don't just have intake OR exhaust fans. A 2 fan card will have one intake and one exhaust fan. Normally with the exhaust being located on the right.

      All gpu’s have “intake” fans if we have to pick that term. If you are exhausting air out from underneath the fan shroud that is working to pull in cool air you get a pocket of negative pressure along the bottom of the case. This will in return, raise temps but cause the pc to be more audible. Temps are the basis of all fans but they would all have to work harder in order to provide the same amount of air. Negative pressure = dust. Intake on the bottom of your pc supersedes them as exhaust every day of the week.

    "Do not need this." Well, I mean, either bring back the side panel punchouts for fan mounting, or include bottom mounting. Direct airflow to the gpu used to definitely be a thing, and I wished it still was. Best way is still to partition off the gpu from the cpu and have fans and exhaust ports for both. But, just having a fan pointed at the gpu will work, too.

    I am thinking about buying a used PC for $170. It has an i7 3770k, a 970 and 16 gb of DDR3 RAM. Should I buy it? Also, there is the risk of it breaking in shipping.

    What is the best CPU to pair with the Nvidia RTX 4070 super?

    • @stuffmcstuff399
      @stuffmcstuff399 5 місяців тому

      "Best" cpu? Can use any CPU from the past couple of years to make the 4070 super pop. You ought to really name a price you are willing to spend.
      If you have a slightly older system, a 5800x3d will ride the 4070 super with ease. IF you have AM5 system even a 7600x can ride it well. But, if you want the BEST, as in the best processors for gaming, then you'd want the 7800x3D or the i7-13700k. But, really, as long as it is a newer CPU (Last 4, or 5, years or so) you should be fine regardless.
