Hong Kong is a amazing city.
Chinese friends told me BBQ crayfrish, shrimp, starfish, scorpions, octopus, stinky egg, stinky tofu's like standard HK street food. Cheap. You guys ate so classy. I'm in culture shock. The egg thing use to be popular around the USA, Pillsbury. But it's made with poppy seeds in the crust and topped with tomato. Nice video :)
Alicia Seecharan i ate that on HK
starfish and scorpions are definitely not standard HK street food. no one eats these in hk lol. it's easier to find insects sold as street food in mainland china though.
standard HK street food are more like curry fishballs, siumai, pig intestines, hk style waffles, hk egg pancakes, squid, stinky tofu, beef balls (not the literal cow balls lol), sausages, squid balls etc.
Alicia Seecharan I live in HK and I've never seen scorpions or starfish sold as snacks/food... but I've seen them everywhere in mainland China especially in Beijing. Fish balls, siu mai and cow intestines are common HK food though and I highly recommend it cause it's good stuff👍👍
It’s not a “city” only liberal American racists and Chinese dictators consider that..
i love your street food videos :)))
Shinichi: "Once again, Lawrence is choosing food according to his fashion." And when he says, "It's not bad at all." It makes me smile with humor. LOL!
You guys make a great team. Love seeing Laurence!
This video remind me of my holiday to Hong Kong last year, I feel in love with the place and long to go back. Food was amazing, the sights, atmosphere was like nothing iv'e seen before.
Thank you for this video guys, can't wait for part 2!
Jill Sandwich agree. can't. wait for part two.
I love both Hong Kong and Japan - Amazing food and great cities!
is the paper cake like what we call angel food cake in USA? also, I like looking up conversion of HK to US dollar.... the $12hk tofu about $1.50 USA, the $32hk caviar dish about$4.50, the tarts about $0.40US. the food in sticks $2hk is only a quarter in US dollar! OMG that's crazy awesome! in case anyone else curious.
I wish I could answer this, but I haven't eaten angel's food cake in a long time. I think it would be very similiar. If you live near a Chinese bakery, you should be able to find it easily.
Yeah the prices were insanely cheap :O
Scarlett Cooper for me angel food cake has a more denser, sweeter taste. This cake however is softer with a delicate taste. pretty much just a spongecake in cupcake form :-)
cheap for you but Hong Kong some people make very little money.
yes pretty much, it's very similar to what we call angel food cake in the US. this paper cake is very light and not super sweet, just a little sweet.
Great video boys! I find stinky tofu to be like durian. Its bark is worse than its bite and a deep appreciation needs to be cultivated over time. Looking forward to part 2 and waiting for you and Satoshi to come visit Vancouver, B.C.!
ようこそ香港へ!!
welcome to Hong Kong ! :D It's just so happy when I see people travelling to my home town and having a try of street food in there :) Please enjoy the trip and have fun! x
HK street food... As a local Hongkie... Not bad.. but not good either.... :) thank u for being so kind to my hometown and i love the HK serie...
The egg tart you tried really looked like a portuguese pastry named "pastel de Nata" :D
I love both Chinese and Portuguese egg tarts but I find the pasteis to usually be more caramel tasting (obviously because of the caramelized/slightly burnt top) and creamy. Having said that, pasteis can also be found almost everywhere now - including China. Even Chinese egg tarts can easily be found anywhere that has a Chinese population.
curiouslysimple I know some Chinese pastry stores where I live (in Montreal) that sell both Chinese and what they call "Portuguese" egg tarts. More often than not their Portuguese egg tarts are basically just the exact recipe they use for the Chinese ones but in a flaky shell and occasionally they'll slightly burn the top. I think this is what they're also doing in this video. (They're delicious too but they're still not quite like the actual pasteis that you can get from a Portuguese bakery.)
curiouslysimple i only meant to explain why they were possibly called that way and my personal observations. my apologies if it seemed like i was criticizing your reply!
I was thinking the exact same thing!
@offthesidelines
Wow, I also live in Montreal! (well Laval, but close enough)
Love seeing all the street foods in Hong Kong. Food tastes better when enjoying with good friends!
I need those sweet potatoes =O I'm drooling LOL. Great video nice to see Lawrence again.

Does Lawrence have a Hong Kong tour/food etc channel? If not he really should - once you get his sense of dry humor he’s very colorful and playful - he’s be a wonderful guide.

香港のトリートフードは愛さずにはいられないとは聞いたことあったのですが、この動画で納得。
最後の揚げポテトだけを食べるだけでも行く価値ありますね!
*Tasty View. Pleasant Evening.*
The flakey egg tart does look more satisfying than the cookie based one.
đường phố Hong Kong toàn thức ăn ngon không, nhìn mà chảy cả nước miếng , ực ực ực !!

Street food is so fun! It's a good way to enjoy something like a local. Looks like you had a good time with Laurence (Hi Laurence!). Like Vinn, I like the paper cupcake. I've never had a dry one though. The ones I've had are very moist and so fluffy! Like eating a cloud. Looking forward to more of your HK vids!

We have some Chinese bakeries not too far from us. We just love the egg tarts! I really like the sponge cakes too, but my favorite is char shu bao!
I LOVE paper cupcakes. I buy them from the Japanese market here in the U.S. and they are very light, fluffy, and sweet. kind of similar to japanese cheesecake.
7-11 behind you when u r trying the curry fish balls! ✨🤙🏼✨
Dear TabiEats , its kinda off topic but I have to thank you, you just saved my dinner
Super curious when you and Satoshi-san are going back to Hawaii :D We need more eating guides in Hawaii!!!
Thank for update video
Sweet potato looks amazing
How come I missed your visit in Hong Kong? I am currently in HK and didn't have the chance to meet you. Mongkok is one of my favorite places to go to, especially the street food and shopping. Hope you had a fun time visiting HK. :)
It was fun to see you both try so many different things! I'd try the sweet potato and the stinky tofu.
You are so brace Sinichi San, I could not try the stinky tofu the smell would not let me!! Love this one so interesting to see Hong Kong street food and I just love Lawrence, he is so funny and an amazing dresser!! 😃
1O年前頃に行った時、ラーメン美味しかった。
I seriously need to go back to HK. My family are scared to try new food so we mostly ate in cafés but I was thankful to at least having tried the egg tart and some dimsum. I yearn for noodles tho.
You should try the chow mei soup then!
just on my diet...love you guys :)
I have been there about 15 years ago was great!!!!
The last one looked so dam good!!!!!
You guys did a great video on your recommendations. Would appreciate if you include references to the food available. TQ
Hong Kong food is very much better than Singapore food. The preparation and serving portion is awesome!
Wish I had places like that over here.
wow the takoyaki with black caviar is right up my alley 🤤
James W what's the name of the street where we can find them? We'll be going to mongkok next week.. i really want to try that takoyaki..
I need to know how to make the paper cake!

I can't believe you skipped the store at 4:15 with the line up! If you're visiting Hong Kong again, be sure to try that place out!
I sure will!!!
Great video! Nice to see Laurence again!
Awesome vidd, gave you a like & sub :D
GREAT VIDEO..........
I have tried japanese sweet potato the sweetest kind i have ever tasted it was like made of sugar and gave me a soar throat.
That tart looks almost like an angel food cake type consistency.
lol that stinky tofu looked like something from a murder scene it didn't help that you said you were afraid to try it morbid mind I know sorry.
Like a sponge after it was used to clean up a murder scene X3
Funny, I had subscribed to both this channel and your travel one where you don't talk and never made the connection 😂
Hi 👦 guy's 💘 love too see laurence! 😄👏👏👏
If stinky tofu is done correctly it is very delicious! It's better than the stinky tofu in a jar!! if stinky tofu is done correctly it is very delicious! It's better than the stinky tofu in the jar!!
EGG TART IS A MUST!! 😂😂
Your guest seems like a nice man
Awww no egg droplet sweets? :( was hoping to see my favorite childhood snack's origins!

OMG! Hong Kong is on my list this year. So glad you are visiting and sharing tips :D
+Hong Anh Trinh Ngoc hong Jong was amazing! Satoshi stayed home on this trip.
Watching this video makes me really miss HK....
been there few years ago
I could just pinch the heck out of Lawrence's cheeks like an Auntie or something! 😀😀😀 Adore you guys always love your videos.
you try here in philippines different foods?
I hate stinky tofu but love natto (no, I'm not Japanese and I did not grow up in Japan) and so does my son. His dad (my husband) whose family from Taiwan loves stinky tofu and hates natto :-D Go figure, every person to their own stinky foodstuff :-)
what street did they eat exactly
Chau taufu = Delicious
Nice! i covered a lot of the similar street food in my video too. and i totally agree with you re. stinky tofu - the smell is so much worse than the taste lol
Where in Kowloon is this exactly? I'm in HK now and I want to try these.
I was waiting ofr Laurence to take Shinichi to a street vendor selling insects (as a tease, at the very least).
Do we all agree that Laurence is super cute!
Where is satoshi?
Everything looked delicious! Once again, Laurence was an amazing host! My favorite is the egg tart as well. Our local 85 Degree Bakery has a yummy egg tart. Question brother.....what exactly does stinky tofu smell like? What does it taste like?
+Mindy's Mom of it smells like...dirty feet. Tastes like deep fried tofu. :)
Thanks Mindy's Mom! We had a great walk that day and night! Laurence
TabiEats.......Dirty feet? Lol! Cheesy? I've always wanted to try stinky tofu, but was afraid. I do love the taste of deep fried tofu though........
Laurence Luk......you're a true friend! You rock! ❤ I hope to meet you one day too!
a cup cake in the USA I think it is very different than the cake you ate but that is just my opinion
great
1:02 it looks frightening lol lol
Try Beard Papa's different flavors
The paper cake looks like angel food cake.
The crumb is different, but that is what I thought before they portioned it.
You both have such gorgeous skin
so cute! ;)
nic city Hongkong
stinky tofu is delicious! It takes awhile to get it like that at home though :(
HatakeMizu I would never make it at home. scare the neighbors or in some cases, kill the neighbors 😁
haha! I don't make it that stinky, just enough to get that taste it gives
you need sweet soy sauce for the fish siu mai!!
What are those round udder looking things at 1:56 ?
What flavour is the egg tart is it lemon flavour or vanilla flavour.
allan fulton egg yolk flavored.
Since the kobe beef incident..lol
