Gday mate. Can u actually explain how to fit a rear mounted radiator? Im mounting mine i just dont know whats next im new to this. Do i need electric water pump? or can i go the bogan way of building

    • @DanielKistler

Hey mate, rear mount radiator has a lot of opinions but this is what worked for me. The radiator needs to be up a littler higher because originally it was low and was getting the hot air from under the car and wouldn’t cool, Atleast a couple hundred mm from the back wall to allow air flow, tilt the top back a little bit and run a roof scoop for the high speed air flow. I only run the standard water pump as well there’s no need for an electric one. The only bonus of electric pump is you can keep circulating the water without the car turned on. Cheers

i gotta ask man but how do you have the motivation to continually sink money and time into these cars? I have honestly had enough of my patrol, i dont daily it as i have a company car, if i go somewhere on the weekend id rather drive my new v6 wildtrak ranger. I cant even think of the last time i actually wanted to go 4wding because all i accociate it with is "how much is this trip going to cost" it has sat in my shed for months and i dont even want to look at it. The amount of time and money sunk into a car that gives me 0 joy driving it because there is always something wrong. I bought a canopy 2 years ago and still haven't fitted anything out inside because just sink money in it. All my mates still go out regually and i see the videos and photos and have 0 desire to join them. I get more joy sinking that money into my house and land and being able to actually see the results and it increases value but the ute just drinks it and breaks it.
How many lockers have i seen you blow up now from snaps, and the hours of work invested just for it all to break again. i just want to now how you manage to do it, how do you stay positive, how do you not throw the towel in when you have put another few k $ in just for it to blend parts.

Think it's called passion. Each to their own I guess to whatever gives you pleasure in life and make the effort worth it. Houses and property can certainty comsume money on another level 😢 . .

Mate I was the same as you close to 6 yrs ago. Bought a nav, done more touring and enjoyed the easy life. Now bought another dead stock patrol, keeping it simple as I just missed the patrol side. It's all passion and position in life, I reckon if I had places to drive like Dan I'd be frothing at it

This could be answered in 10 different ways but I’ll try keep it short haha. I often think the same thing about people who go down to the pub and spend hundreds or thousands over the bar and then tip money into the pokies or betting apps, to me that seems crazy. But at the same time who am I to judge what people do with their time or how they spend their money, we are all different and enjoy different things and everyone values their time and money different, no real right or wrong way. I love tinkering in the shed, I’ve learnt so much building cars that relates with day to day living, and I absolutely love learning things and when your building a car there are so many valuable skills to learn, and I get so much enjoyment from driving the cars as well. Like everything in life it’s not always 100 percent good times, so breaking the car is just a small downside to the good sides of it all. It’s a passion I enjoy doing and so many of my mates do it, we are all real close and four wheel drives have contributed to that. When I was right into riding FMX, I’d get injured and be laid up in hospital still itching to get better and get back on the bike, people would say the same thing to me then, but it’s just what I’m passionate about and what I like to spend my time on.
Side note - this is the first locker I’ve actually broken from a snapped axle
