0:20 That was low key kind of scary for a second, just seeing Mechagodzilla casually lurking in the background.
I've seen this movie a bunch of times and I've actually never noticed him in that specific shot

He's just standing there... *menacingly*.
Man, that panning shot from 0:29 to 0:35 is just fantastic.
Agreed. I love the shot of Mechagodzilla's red eyes shining through the smoke. Makes him look like devil on Titanosaurus's shoulder (metaphorically).
I wish we had more full body shots like that in the Monsterverse films
@@Bakamatsu-GojiFanArchiveagreed
@@Bakamatsu-GojiFanArchiveMaybe we’ll get one with Skar-King and Shimo’s glowing blue eyes behind him.
Yeah, Honda did a lot of low-to-the-ground shooting in this one. It's a real contrast to Banno's style.
The really sad thing is, this was the last Showa Godzilla movie. 1954-1975 (21 years apart) Showa era will always be the G.O.A.T.
That seems more like you expressing an elementary fact about this movie among fans as though it's a specialized form of knowledge. I suppose it makes everyone feel good about themselves to feel they're part of some elite
This movie made Godzilla feel like an underdog going on an uphill battle.
Basement Dweller shut up nimrod
Go back to your tribe, internet warrior.
That was the intent. Toho wanted to go back to making serious Godzilla films again and after the success of the previous film, they wanted Godzilla to be alone this time, against the odds against his mechanical doppelganger and titanosaurus (who were originally going to be two creatures that combined into titanosaurus in the final fight).
@@xiaotaoliang7787 why is he a nimrod
Since Godzilla had Anguirus and King Caesar helping him in the previous movie, Toho felt MechaGodzilla should have help with Titanosaurus in this film
1:23 one of the strongest kicks in the saga, I love the detail that when Godzilla falls it creates a crater on the floor
Titanosaurus is no slouch. He was running fades against Godzilla. Even did some Muay Thai clinch with the knee.
He was ragdoll’d
Turning Godzilla into a hero was one of the factors that lead to the Showa period demise, but I argue that if he wasn't turned into a hero he wouldn't be as popular as he is.
Tbf the first two movies. Were GODZILLA was a hero were well received ghidorah the three headed monster and invasion of astro monster
Could’ve worked well but wasn’t super well executed. Also he became a bit too heroic and the whole son thing was weird (Minilla’s design was hideous as was Godzilla’s face)
As much as i've loved the future iterations of Godzilla, being 55 years old I still hold this version as my most heartfelt.
Cool. I've been a Godzilla fan too

I'm reading your comment on my phone and I'm just like "bruh" 😂😂
People said in the 60s we'd all be in flying cars by the year 2000. They did say crazy shit
With all of the special effects today, I still find myself going back to these old school movies! Some things just continue to prevail against father time!!!

@Videogamelover58 On top of that, Godzilla has been in some brutal battles. His most brutal battle was him and Anguirus vs King Ghidorah and Gigan. Destroy All Monsters finale. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus.
I still think this part shouldv'e been Anguirus showed up beside those fighter jets. Saving his pal from Mechagodzilla AND payback for the broken jaw.
I love it when Mechagodzilla just sits there and just watching Godzilla and Titanosaurus fighting and doing nothing. Such hilarious movie
I believe it’s to look menacing not to be funny. But to find a canonical reason it could be Katsura trying to resist the urge to control MG & kill Godzilla
@azhurelwarrior alright I see and yes this is still a year ago and I haven't changed a bit. Only changed not watching any kaiju movies but still a fan
Probably waiting for Godzilla to start turning the tables before blasting him.

Absolutely. In fact the final battle of this film was just as much of a blast for me as most later films, even the monsterverse ones. And I'm saying this as a 14 year old.
Godzilla and Titanosaurus were really running the hands against each other.
The first time that I watched this movie was about 11 years ago. The late 70s Godzilla was just so so much fun to watch. The monsters beat the shit out of each other, wrestle and throw one another around. This was the good shit.

Nice recovery from Titanosaurus!
Showa Godzilla goes out of his way to save individual humans several times in Terror of Mechagodzilla.
He arrived as those two kids were calling for him, he tried to save the squadron from Mechagodzilla, and even saved the people who were distracting Titanosaurus in the Helicopter.
Showa G's years of combat experience is shown here since he was beating Titanosaurus until MG interrupted him.

The Era Showa films were really cheesy, but in the middle of these there were wonderful films, with Gojira (1954), which is the original film and the best of all.

2:25 the cameraman took a punch to the face by Godzilla, geez wonder how he survived that?!
Classic Godzilla is very cute.
And surprisingly, Mechagodzilla is cool and scary.
I like how for almost the entire fight scene Titanosaurus is doing all the work while Mechagodzilla just sits there watching with his mouth gaped. If you look at it a second time you'll notice that it totally seems like Mechagodzilla is malfunctioning.
Some interesting facts:
There were supposed to be two Titanosaurus in the original script. They were called Titans.
Titanosarus teams up with Godzilla in the comics.
Titanosaurus was supposed to be freed from mind control and help Godzilla destroy Mechagodzilla but for whatever reason they changed that.

The terrifying Titanosaurus deserved its own Kaiju film...
Two of favorites Godzilla and Optimus. I just realized how similar this scene is to when Megatron killed Optimus in Revenge of the Fallen.
In every Godzilla movie he always won in the end so it doesn't matter if the enemies doesn't fight fair because he always found a way to come back in the end and win always found a way to counter the enemies moves that's what makes Godzilla the king
If Legendary Godzilla learns to punch like this version Kong will have no chance.
That boxing Godzilla was dishing out. ❤
I love how Mechagodzilla looks intently at the two at 2:33!
He’s enjoying it, because he’s a psychopath.
0:29 is actually a pretty epic shot. 1:19 follows that up with another great wide shot showing all three monsters utilizing the smoky fiery setting. Mechagodzilla looks threatening during this entire scene just observing from a distance and intervening. 2:08 and 2:54 for example

How creepy is it that Mechagodzilla is mostly just standing by watching.
This movie should be called, "Godzilla V.S. Titanosaurs" because the film focuses on Titanosaurs more than Mechagodzilla.
I may not be the biggest fan of the mid-to-late Showa era Godzilla movies, but this is easily one of the best fight scenes in the entire series.

In anticipation of King of the Monsters last year, I did a full series marathon (yes, including ‘98 and ‘14/Skull Island), and it’s a wild ride seeing Godzilla go from a walking embodiment of nuclear anxiety to an alien fighting superhero in an abbreviated fashion.
1:23-1:30 damn Titanosaurus has one strong and power kick.
These movies were so good when I was a kid good memories watching them took me away from the bad things in life.
oh jesus lmao that tail wind
Terror of MechaGodzilla is the best Showa era Godzilla film since Ghidorah The Three-Headed Monster. MechaGodzilla absolutely pushed Godzilla and his allies to their limits over the next 47 years [Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla, Terror of MechaGodzilla, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II, Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, Godzilla vs Kong] (making Godzilla bleed 6 times, breaking Anguirus’ jaw in a bloody display, almost killing King Caesar, and making Rodan die). Though he’s appeared in fewer films (6) than King Ghidorah (8), MechaGodzilla will forever go down in kaiju history as the ONLY monster to either make Godzilla bleed and/or die. Long live MechaGodzilla: the king of the robot monsters
The definition of an unfair fight.
*definition of an unstoppable king
If it was either one by themselves, Godzills could thrash them. Titano's stronger, but Showa Godzilla at this point was basically a superhero in terms of combat skill. He could dance circles around Titanosaurus if he wanted... but both Titanosaurus and Mechagodzilla at the same time is just too much for any one kaiju to take down. A team as dangerous as the Muto pair, and much more lethal.
Fights were always unfair but he's gangsta and always came out on top

Imagine if Godzilla had used his atomic breath on them at that time instead of using melee attacks.

1:23 I love how Goji goes FLYING from that little kick 😭😂
I'm not a huge kaiju film fan buy this film is very memorable for me.
Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus make a pretty good team.
The dive gave me some "Serious Showa Gamera" vibes here, as Godzilla saves some kids.
Watching this after Godzilla Minus One just won it's Oscar for Best Special Effects, I'm really impressed and happy with how far this franchise has come after 70 years. Minus One did amazingly for a budget of only $15 million or less, and it shows with how immersive Godzilla is in every scene he's in.
But I'd argue that you can see this in almost any Godzilla movie since 1954. Even here. The miniatures, the scaling, the explosives, the sound design, and not to mention the hardworking suit actors as well as the crew working behind the camera- each movie was made with just as much love, effort, and dedication from its crew to bring Godzilla and his co-stars to life. Now with Godzilla officially being an Oscar winning franchise, it feels nice to see all that work finally pay off.
Too be Honest, Godzilla was just Gamera in this movie. But I love every showa Godzilla movie none the less

I think I like the fight in this film, even better than the climax of it's predacessor, Godzilla Vs Mecha-Godzilla! As it's even more challenging for Godzilla, being he has two opponents, and no ally(despite getting a little help from the humans). And just when he thinks he can defeat MechaGodzilla the same way he did last time, the aliens learned from their mistakes! But Godzilla comes on top once again! As he is awesome!
I remember watching this when I was a kid it was great.
Neato! I saw this in the theater when it came out. It was the last Godzilla film I saw in the theater - I think the previous one I saw was Godzilla vs. Megalon. Anyway, it was so wonderful to see the original "Godzilla King of the Monsters" on the Saturday night Chiller Movie Double Feature, then be in a theater a few weeks later watching this on the big screen. I wouldn't trade places with today' kids for anything 🙂
