To be fair: They actually traded for AB to bolster the WR corps. (We all know how that went.) So they tried to have talent at that position. (Even though you can blame them for the risk they took after AB went out of his mind in Pittsburgh.)
Yeah, but imo that's still a bad move. They didn't ignore the position, you're right, but they can't be given credit for the AB acquisition after how it turned out.
Just wanted to say your channel is great and one of the top 3 football analyst breakdown channels in my opinion. How did you learn so much about football?
I would agree Carr is a good QB for the raiders, note Carr hasn't had anybody good to throw it to since 16, but he isnt as Confident since the injury I hope he finds his confidence quickly we need a SB win in vegas
I got your back alex. These people dont know because they dont watch. They watch a team lose and blame a single man. Car is my QB and im sure he will ball out this year
To be clear the raiders "shelled out" $7.5m for mariota. You combining both years of the contract thats completely dependent on his performance in those 2 years is pretty weak.
The truth is, you are right! We need to stretch big time! Carr may then relax! He is always trying to make things happen when most of it should come to you in flow! Only way Raiders get anywhere is not through Chucky offense ! The system is often over complicated! It requires a very good D! Still have faith in Chucky! He will open it up!
I've said this before. If people at home can predict some plays, you know damn well the professional defensive players and DC can sniff them out. I have noticed the exact same formations, then the same guy goes in motion, and the exact same play called 2-3 times during games. Gruden is very predictable. Watch any goal line play where Ingold goes in motion from one side to another. It was ALWAYS a RB dive over that side. They scored a TD early on, and after that Gruden kept running it but defense's finally wised up and stuffed it repeatedly.
Heard a podcast reviewing all the Raiders RZ plays last year, things were literally this obvious. Anytime Jalen Richard was lined up when they're in GL, it's a pass. Hell, just look for Jalen Richard no matter the field position and you'll be able to guess run/pass at least. Gruden didn't do them any favors there haha To think with aaaaall that bs, they still almost made the playoffs. Big reason why I don't think the sky's falling.
Yes, route concepts get picked on and jumped sometimes. But it doesn’t mean that your QB has to throw it. At no point in that KC int was Waller open. Carr sometimes gets locked into deeper passes even if it’s covered.
Another great video. Hoping we get to see Mariota play QB. I think Mariota has been given an unfair shot with constant turnover yearly. Hoping he can thrive with Gruden if Carr doesn't work out. Hey Alex, which team do you think Rosen fits best in as a backup/QB to groom? Or is it all over for him?
Thanks a ton Kev. Well since you commented he signed on the Bucs practice squad. It's hard to quantify the type of mental beating he's taken over the last few years, if he is able to make a career of it, the dude would legit have nerves of steel. Rooting for him
Should do an updated video. Especially how the Raiders played the Chiefs with a deep threat in 2020. 10th ranked offense with Jacobs not as effective as the year before. And an o-line that only played like 6 snaps together.
it was zero percent on carr. as the vid said, they were waiting for it based off personelle and presented something similar to what carr had seen elsewhere. that route combo requires anticipation and the chiefs knew that. they guessed correctly. Hopefully this year the wideouts can keep the defense honest so teams cant just predict what we will do. tbh its the same thing teams did to this offense when gannon ran it. the ravens did it to the raiders in the afc playoffs the year b4 the superbowl, and tampa did it in the superbowl the next year
Alex, I wanted to ask you what you think is the best fantasy football platform. We've been using yahoo for a while now but we would like to know if there's something better out there.
Depends on what you're looking for. If you're keeping it relatively casual, I prefer ESPN over Yahoo but there are plenty of better options if you're looking to get more advanced. I like FFPC
I'm still waiting to see how his playcalling looks when he has some actual speed to play around with, but I agree. I listened to a podcast breaking down the Raiders redzone struggles last year, Gruden basically showed his hand with the personnel every single time they got down there (if Richard was on the field, the Raiders were going to pass). Little things like that make the team's job that much harder.
I agree. Gruden has a great playbook, he just doesn't call games aggressively. Look what happened to the offense Callahan's first year, he opened it up and boom, Gannon becomes MVP
Well Gruden was also expecting to have an AB available so Williams could go deep and stretch the field. But that of course didn't happen. But Gruden needs to stretch defenses this year to keep them on their toes. In 2016 Musgrave did a combination of both and Care proved he can throw the deep ball with the best of them.
@@robbiewatson3525 Are you blind, or live under a rock? 2016 he wasnt voted the 11th best player in the NFL for loosing. You tell me what Qb wins with a shitty team? Now he has a good team, Carr will win the MVP this year!
Mariota is like the 12th highest paid backup this year. Alex Smith is a $20 million backup. None of the Vegas or Oakland beat writers have mentioned any grumbles about Carr this year
Mariota is receiving the 21st most of all Quarterbacks including starters. There is no reason to give him that much money if a team is happy with their QB situation. overthecap.com/position/quarterback/2020/
I think Mariota was brought in as a plan B, but Carr decided he wasn't going to lose his job and is / has been proving to Gruden and Mayock it is his team. Didn't hear much about other QB's having their own practices in parks where more than half the team shows up. Throw in Mariota having a rough camp and lack of accuracy and it became a QB battle for #2. Mayock's comment about him and that Carr is what he has been most pleased with this off season is what they wanted all along. We'll see what they look like on Sunday!
@@MikeReppucci You don't pay a plan B that much money. If Mariota had gotten 1 or 2 million, then I'd agree, but they made him the 21st highest paid QB including starters. If he's truly a plan B, that's terrible financial management, which I don't believe is the case.

Gruden still running the same plays he did when he had Tim Brown and Jerry Rice they also had a great tight end and Gardner as running back who could catch the ball. That offense kept teams off balance being able to run or pass on any play.
With the exception of Carr getting hurt, Mariota won't see any playing time. At this point, it sounds like Gruden likes Peterman over Mariota. He looked like trash in camp.
@@27RAIDERMAN Oh, I'm not a Peterman fan at all... Surprised he's still around. But, that wasn't the point. My point was Mariota sucks. Especially for the $$$.

Could someone show this to Jon & ensure he watches it? As much as I am exhausted with Carr, he needs everything to go perfectly around him. This is the worst HC-QB combo ever. It's almost like Gruden is keeping Guenther & Carr around as scapegoats.
Carr is solid. Gruden helped Gannon turn into a MVP. Before that he was a journeyman. Gannons mid range throws were a bit more accurate but Carr's deep ball is better. If Carr can scramble a bit more(like Gannon did) we will be just fine👍🏻
He went from only 4 unplanned scrambles to 12 last season, so I have no reason to believe he won't keep trending upward. That disaster fumble in GB also doesn't happen if he isn't actively trying to scramble more haha so as much as I hated it, there are two sides to that coin. Either way, I like the optimism! RN4L
ppl forget whn Carr had weapons at WR's before Chucky came in . Amari cooper was his go to plus the system Carr was in before Gruden stepped in, they were actually winning. this make carr come out of his shell bit lol. He had done that with his cannon of an arm.
@@AlexRollinsNFL I am a die hard Raiders fan but I’m brutally honest to the reality of our team. You hit a ton of plays that I’ve screamed from the mountain top on why I’m on my last chance with Carr but I also tell everyone I know that talent wise we haven’t been close enough to really do what we want to offensively. I think AB saw Carr last year and wanted nothing to do with him and looked for a way out. Gruden is a tough dynamic because he attempts to our work every problem and he lives and dies by his work from Monday - Wednesday instead of the in game changes that need to happen. IMO. Anyway. Great content and I hope to watch more of your analyst work.
I agree with most of what you said. My one significant difference of opinion is how you are structuring the argument around being Gruden's fault for not giving Carr the dynamic deep threat he needed. When in fact...AB was signed for that exact reason. And we all saw how that went. TW wasn't flashy, but he did fill that role, just not nearly as well as AB. I can't fault Chucky for the AB mess, other than to say that he has to own the drama that came with a generational talent. I think he tried. But then I also think his opinion of Carr is one of game manager, and to run the Gruden 'O', it's so conservative as a base, you have to get 4 yards instead of 3 REGULARLY, and Carr doesn't do that. He checks to the flat (as you mentioned) rather than the drag behind where the intent is. All this, IMHO.
Thanks James. Someone has to be accountable for signing AB. Yes Gruden tried to improve the receiving core, but any team signing someone with AB's character issues is at fault. There was no depth at the position behind AB even if he was there. That is all rolled into my argument
@@AlexRollinsNFL I really am onboard with all of that. I think the Grud-ock image we all imagine really is what goes on in that war room, and for that reason he has to own that outcome. But I think my point is that if AB hadn't gone full moron, what would our offense have looked like? Hindsight being 20/20 and all, I at least want to give Gruden credit for trying to make that impact. And when free agency didn't do it, he went straight to the draft and did it there. Ultimately I think this season should really shed some light on everything. Hopefully what comes out is that somewhere between Ruggs, Waller, and whatever other receiving threat we throw out there can exploit those exact concepts you outlined so well in the video. And I do think you did an excellent scouting job BTW.

As a Raiders fan I thought this was a great video
Thanks Eric!
This video was incorrect
So what you’re telling me is...cover the yards between the sticks, and have a spy to jump the flats😂that’s how to beat carr
Alex I Love You And Your Vids Keep It Up Brother!!
Thanks Runor, I appreciate it!
Just wanted to say your channel is great and one of the top 3 football analyst breakdown channels in my opinion. How did you learn so much about football?
Carr is very good QB anyone who thinks otherwise doesnt watch religiously
I would agree Carr is a good QB for the raiders, note Carr hasn't had anybody good to throw it to since 16, but he isnt as Confident since the injury I hope he finds his confidence quickly we need a SB win in vegas
I got your back alex. These people dont know because they dont watch. They watch a team lose and blame a single man. Car is my QB and im sure he will ball out this year
Manning looks faster then carr outhere..
Carr is a terrible QB, anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't watch religiously. Ever see Carr take over a game? Nope. Carr sucks man, hes a 5 win QB
@@GMZohar14 my point exactly
Alex show us a legit source saying Carr DOESNT have Gruden’s confidence ?
Mariota doesn’t get all his money unless incentives are met
And mayock just last said the thing he is most pleased with this off season was Carr.
For this man to only have 42k it makes no type of sense
Thanks Max, just gotta work harder
To be clear the raiders "shelled out" $7.5m for mariota. You combining both years of the contract thats completely dependent on his performance in those 2 years is pretty weak.
12:17, the Bill O'Brien shade is brutal 😂
The truth is, you are right! We need to stretch big time! Carr may then relax! He is always trying to make things happen when most of it should come to you in flow! Only way Raiders get anywhere is not through Chucky offense ! The system is often over complicated! It requires a very good D! Still have faith in Chucky! He will open it up!
Exactly what I have been trying to explain to my Carr hating friends. Great breakdown. Subscribed!
Thank you Steve, glad to have you
Great work as always alex
Thank you Jacob!
Great unbiased video. I think the point about Gruden not adjusting after half time is a great tell.
Thanks 2locs! 1.7 points per game in the third quarter says it all
I've said this before.
Gruden didn't do them any favors there haha
To think with aaaaall that bs, they still almost made the playoffs. Big reason why I don't think the sky's falling.
One of your best videos hands down, the detail is epic!
Wow thank you, that means a lot!
You called it weapons and he showed real self through week 11 so far u got a subscribe for this
Yes, route concepts get picked on and jumped sometimes.
That KC interception isn't 100% on Carr, that route was awful.
I swear, Carr haters will always be mad because Raiders didn't take the haters coveted player who's no longer in the league. They can piss up a rope
it was zero percent on carr. as the vid said, they were waiting for it based off personelle and presented something similar to what carr had seen elsewhere. that route combo requires anticipation and the chiefs knew that. they guessed correctly. Hopefully this year the wideouts can keep the defense honest so teams cant just predict what we will do. tbh its the same thing teams did to this offense when gannon ran it. the ravens did it to the raiders in the afc playoffs the year b4 the superbowl, and tampa did it in the superbowl the next year
Henry ruggs bouta go crazy
I hope so, I drafted him
I agree 100%. Great job explaining! Keep up the great work.
Thanks Darth, appreciate it!
ok, we will see, can't wait!!!
I like FFPC
Gruden needs to give up the play calling and bring in a real O-coordinator, not Greg Olson.
Greg has not had a very good track record..
Well that's a insanely good analysis, that's impressive I'm definitely subscribing 👏👏
Thank you Jaime, glad to have you!
Carr will be the NFL MVP this year!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
He has to start winning for that! Gruden's a proven winner. Carr hasn't proved squat. Stats don't mean a thing if your not a winner
@@robbiewatson3525 Are you blind, or live under a rock? 2016 he wasnt voted the 11th best player in the NFL for loosing. He had us @ 12-2 with eight 4th qtr comebacks in a single season (NFL Record) btw. He was the front runner for the MVP then broken leg! The next season broken back and still played. You tell me what Qb wins with a shitty team? Now he has a good team, Carr will win the MVP this year!
😂😂we'll see.
Carr is a "B" quarterback
@AlexRollinsNFL you have yourself a new subscriber. Having never seen any of your videos before, came a cross this video in my recommended and I must say, I'm really impressed with the fair and balanced objective critiquing you gave in this report. Thank you for your hard work. I look forward to watching more content from you in the future.
Im A Raiders fan, from Sydney Australia and have been supporting them from down under for 28 years now.
That comment means a lot, thank you! I grew up/live in Oakland now, so I'm right there with you as a fan. Pretty hurt that they moved though..
RUMORS ARE JUST RUMORS, IF GRUDEN DIDN'T WANT CARR, HE WOULD ALREADY BE GONE, THAT SIMPLE !!!! NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR OUR QUARTERBACK @DEREKCARRQB
Rod Woodson said this two years ago: "Gruden does not adjust during half time," hence the decline of production in the 2nd half of playing.
not true raiders had a ton of injuries last season
The drag was open in the jessie bates pick play. Gruden shouldnt be too repettive with his play call but carr shouldnt have fell for the trap of predetermining his read on that play.
I kinda want film breakdowns on joe mixon, Kenyan drake, or maybe Adam thielen, love all those dudes
Shoutout to the Bill O’Brien shade
Wow!!! Very nice breakdown.
Thank you Pheng!
On the first breakdown the dude says Carr should throw the ball now too Renfrow.....while his back is turned and he doesnt even look to his inside shoulder cause the play is designed to go outside. I've seen enough
Thank you so much for this...
This year will tell the story about carr
its all about Alex and Brett Kollmann. does anybody else make videos like this at the same caliber?
Thanks Matt!
Cool when general football fans speak on teams they don't know lol
Man, good intel.
The Raider fans here see Chucky as a person who can't do wrong. They also see as Carr is the main problem or at very least frustrated with him.
I'm getting to the point of wanting both of them gone.
No he likes Carr he said it when they met at his QB room he knows what he has we Carr we just have to see it this year
lots of assumptions in this video
Can we get another one of these videos now that the 2020 season is over. Did the same thing happen and cause their struggles in the 2nd half of the the season?
I'm actually releasing a Darren Waller video on Saturday! But it won't go over their second half struggles, which yes, were related to this episode here
I'll be looking forward to that. Just found your channel. It's amazing! It's exactly what I've been looking for. Keep up the good work.
@@Jnick34 Thanks brother!
Where is the intro music from ?
They paid mariota to put pressure on carr , only real fans know this. Trust in carr
Keep Carr. Get him some weapons and get rid of Gruden.
They need to stop this gruden hates carr shit, theres nothing wrong with them mark even said so him self click bait
No Gruden has a really good relationship with Carr. Don't believe all the reports. They don't know what happens behind closed doors.
@@Cuauhtemoc3 most agreed
Gruden still running the same plays he did when he had Tim Brown and Jerry Rice they also had a great tight end and Gardner as running back who could catch the ball. That offense kept teams off balance being able to run or pass on any play.
Great video! Major flaws in Gruden's playcalling. Need to adapt to what defenses give you.
Appreciate that Nicholas
With the exception of Carr getting hurt, Mariota won't see any playing time. At this point, it sounds like Gruden likes Peterman over Mariota. He looked like trash in camp.
RC Peterman is a just lame Project of Gruden he isn’t a long term answer as a back up either
@@27RAIDERMAN Oh, I'm not a Peterman fan at all... Surprised he's still around. But, that wasn't the point. My point was Mariota sucks. Especially for the $$$.
Thank you
Carr is gunna need a Hugh and fly season to keep his job.
Would like an update on this one
I don't care a single bit about the Raiders, but the analysis is great as always. Keep it up!
Thanks Asma, appreciate that man
You have broken down the Carr play excellent, Wow I have been saying that expose things about our Quarterback back play Gurden vs Carr. Carr on film last couple of years that Carr does not want to be hit. But Thank you for explaining both Carr and Coach Gruden needs to get on same page
Appreciate that Whitney, glad you liked it
Could someone show this to Jon & ensure he watches it?
RN4L
@@meatymatmart totally. Think we will be fine with carr. He definitely is a gamer.....
Good points good job
Thank you Jay, appreciate that man
ppl forget whn Carr had weapons at WR's before Chucky came in . Amari cooper was his go to plus the system Carr was in before Gruden stepped in, they were actually winning. this make carr come out of his shell bit lol. He had done that with his cannon of an arm.
Very good video. 👍🏼
Thank you Felix!
Watching this after the chiefs game, raiders and Carr exploited the chiefs playing them underneath. #ruggseffect
That was a really good video
Thank you bro, I appreciate it!
If you ain’t first you’re last
Shake n bake!
Consistently intelligent breakdowns. Mas, por favor, ARoll
Thanks brother!
