My younger brother David and I saw Metallica in concert in Edmonton, Alberta,Canada on June 2, 1989 at Northlands Coliseum. My brother died in January 1990 at the age of 34 years old because he was a diabetic who neglected to take his insulin. He been using cocaine that night with someone else who just left him to die. Master Of Puppets led to his demise. Now he is deceased.
Brian Bingham God, i'm sorry to hear that man, may he rest in peace

I’m 28 years old and female. My very first memory is when I was about 3-4 years old. My dad loves Metallica and had been to their concerts in the late 80s/early 90s. He had a tank top that he bought at one of their concerts. I remember wearing it and it being like a dress on me. I vividly remember dancing to Enter Sandman in this tank top in our little apartment we used to live in. I’ve loved Metallica ever since.
that is so cute what
My Dad has been wanting to see Metallica live since he was in highschool, but whenever they came to or anywhere near Saskatchewan they sold out instantly. Finally they came back to Edmonton after how many years and I was able to take him. It was honestly one of the best experiences of my life!
you is gudd son
Glad you did! Amazing show!
brlliant. normally it's the other way around. dad taking son. hope ye had a blast.
That is awesome! Wish my 16 year old would take me lol
Really cool to hear that! We love Metallica so going to see them live is a really magical event! Glad you got to do that w/ your dad!
Who else is excited for Metallica in Edmonton 2024!! 🤘🎸
Four of your biggest fans sprang from my womb, dear Metallica... I hope you love us forever 🙏 Rock on 🤘🎸❤
The best band ever. No questions at all.

1:15:55 great job rob, I know within my heart cliff is proud of you.
Metallica in full renaissance mode.
Plus, what a crowd. Awesome people.
Canada proud.
we are known for serious crowd participation!!!! and well we ROCK!!
Edmonton always brings it!
Really sad to see people complaining. These dudes are in their mid-50's. They're not going to look/sound like the did when they were 22-23 and recording Master of Puppets.
Hey I am 51 and still rock, these guys are a little bit older than me and totally rocked!!
Metallica has changed over the years but have evolved with the times and if anything have improved with age, IMO. They have a maturity of sound and style they lacked in their 20s. Lars hopes they'll keep going another 20 years. Me too!
Better than #axlrose
Of course not but they continue to sound great and even better :)
I think they sound much better nowadays...Their live sound is like no other band out there...
He is singing better now than he was 10 to 15 years ago. Most bands that have been around this long turn into some sad caricature of themselves. These guys are still destroying.
Alan Cosens without doubt in fact his voice sounds better than ever. Plus, this was a hella long concert.
Alan Cosens Metallica is one of the best bands to see live. They are pushing 60, but they always give it their all.
Alan I like what you said... I just thumbed downed a couple dumb haters...
@@bbc_junior4863 I'm seeing them March 11th at bankers Life fieldhouse
Hola qué tal me yamo maraya
Rob Trujillo. Beast on bass!
No Cliff was the G.O.A.T on a bass who knew a G.O.A.T could play bass
Rob does a great job and I'm sure cliff approves,,,but,,cliff was the best ever. But when rob did cliffs solo and i saw cliff on the monitors a tear came to my eye,,at the same time joy to my heart. Man I miss cliff.
I like Rob but the sound of his bass is extremly weak compared to his personality! I Feel like his bass guitar does ot have the sound to match the power with which he plays....
he also was a BEAST in Suicidal Tendencies! ;) best band ever live!
These guys are amazing, solidified as rock gods. Unbeatable, unsurpassed, outstanding. Their stamina is unbelievable. I hope these guys go for another 20 years.
Papa Razzi rock gods
All I can say is legendary
the best band of all time in my opinion
Insiktsfull i think the devil sold his soul to james... the ego on that man
They are my second fav of all-time next to ZEP
I have James’s pick from hardwired and atlas rise from this show
How much you want for it? Lol
Stu ray nothing it’s priceless to me and not for sale
@@odinmerry8276 lol I don't blame ya.
I live in Vancouver but I had to go to Edmonton for work the night they were in Vancouver and I was so upset I had to miss them..
Then I found out they were coming to Edmonton while I was there and I went and seen them alone!! I had such a great time lol
I love how my favorite band in the world opens every concert with one of my favorite films in the world.
Sam Loomis I remember seeing but I forget the name I know it’s by Clint Eastwood

I was on a Metallica concert in Cologne (Germany)
It was the best day in my whole live!🤘🤘
Mika Biegota Me too, but it was back in 2009 on the World Magnetic Tour. And I‘ve seen them four times since.
Am I the only one who thinks that metallica are being great during this tour?? Also, am I the only one who still likes James's voice and Kirk's guitar playing?
Alessio Cristofoletto They've all started to accept the fact that their golden days are over... and that's the reason they're now sounding better and better every show, with minor errors of course. Absolutely love their new sound.
Your not the only one..!! They are kicking ass right now..I was at this concert and was blown away..
+Alessio Cristofoletto: Don't worry, there's a small number of squeaky wheels with big mouths out there. They're desperate to have someone listen to their stupid opinions, so they post 100X more often. The _vast_ majority of real music fans are right there with you.
I have to say this video changed my sceptic mind - they play awesomely!
They had gotten better than they had been in a long time from the Wold Magnetic tour and everything following that, but yeah they are playing the best they have in 15-20 years, easily.
Metallica kicks ass because they're so fucking real. They are real people and they all have their own vulnerabilities and the fact that they aren't perfect nor do they ever pretend to be is a key staple in that.
Was at this show. Tickets were outrageously expensive and I didn't snag one until last minute, sat lower bowl stage left at almost a 90 degree angle from rob's side. Glad I went as it was a pretty good setlist with Blackened as the first encore, first time live in Edmonton since 2004. Parents watched the stream from home.
when you want to see bands of this caliber you are suppose to pay certain price for this quality
i think i ended up snagging my floor ticket for like, $450? 100% worth it, best time i've ever had at a concert, by far.
Best Metal band EVER
"One" and "Master" back to back is almost too much to handle. Sweet jeebus.
They played without interruption One, Master and Fade to Black (their three best songs for me)
сколько не слушаю эту группу не перестаю удивлятся.
Kirk is a kick ass guitar player
Best concert I've ever been to! Thanks Metallica
Best concert I've ever been to
This show was happiness. Every person had smiles.
When the boys came to Pittsburgh on this tour I had the opportunity to drive James. He smoked the cigars I gave him after the concert. It was so awesome. He just stood by the garage door entrance of the venue smoking while i was waiting in the car.
well tell your friend cigas are bad
Thank you I was there my neck and throat hurt but it was so worth it
Thegamer101135 same here my neck especially! Never worked it that hard in my life
Phrasing
Same here! Still feeling the effects on my throat 3 days after the concert.
Thegamer101135 same dude I was in the nosebleeds with my cousin and we're still trying to get our voice back
77 rows up and I'm pretty sure the floor could hear us during master and seek
It was just a beautiful night!! the weather was super couldn't ask for anything better!! Some songs or sounds made me cry!! just all in all a great night and great memories that I'll have forever!! thanx again METALLICA!!!
Debbie leBel which ones made u cry ?
Debbie leBel it was an amazing night!
I love this band so much.... Metallica is the legendary band.
My God.They sound perfect. And James is the king of downpicking. He's so fast that I can't even follow his hand with my eyes.Brilliant.
it's 2017.. we need Metallica in 4K!!
Never stop, Metallica. We need you. More than ever.
Even watching a full concert is amazing, I could only imagine how cool it would be to watch these guys live
Jake Pursley it is beyond worth it it you ever get the chance
My first Metallica concert and shared this experience with my youngest daughter \m/
It’s an experience isn’t it?
I can’t wait to take my son when they’re back out this way 🤘
Sad but True was the highlight for me...the whole show is amazing! Hetfield's camo guitar is the best thing I've seen in forever...
Uber Sydney Drivers i thought he played Air guitar cause i couldnt see it
Ville Pöyhönen I see what you did there
This was an amazing experience. This was mine and my gf first concert and we were on the floor front stage. Just about centered. Fucking loved it. Cant wait for the next tour
During Seek rob did his tornado right in front of us, to get a better idea of where we were
I have been listening to Metallica for almost 30 years, and I hope that for another 30 years they will delight us with their creativity, love and respect from Russia. METALLICA FOREVER. 2018, and the way you like if you're with me
goin on 35 years here...i hope to have another 35 or 40 years....they are simply the Best Band Ever...hands down....
Cant wait to see them in January '19 at Nati...
Never forget this show. Forgot earplugs and went deaf for almost 2 weeks.
So much better than any other concert in the last five years
Best setlist of the entire tour
Metallica has been and will be the NUMBER ONE as a rock band. Their lyrics, soul and tune make each song unique.
Rob’s play of Anesthesia is Godly. Screw all the Rob haters. He puts his heart and soul into the band.
I do not hate rob,, he does a great job, and I believe within my heart cliff burton is proud of him.🤘
one of the best shows they've done
Not too many bands still put on a 3 hour set. Still amongst the gods of metal. :)
I love the fact that James makes that "we are a family..." speech in the beginning of every concert... I hope you/we all (the universe) get the message... We are all Gods people!
Fade to Black was definitely the nicest sounding surprise to me. Nailed it!
Thanks to Metallica for putting their last show on live stream - so I got to watch it live... excellent show! Thanks fellas!
What a fucking great show. My old Army buddy and I dropped 200 bucks pre drinking all day at the End Zone pub one of the finest dive bars in Edmonton and right outside the stadium. This was my sixth Metallica show and made my summer. ONE and MOP were my favorites. I am so glad this vid is on you tube so I can relive my memories of my favorite band making my summer. CHEERS
I was in a METALLICA- Concert in Erfurt, Germany in 2003. Unforgetable! 🎸👍
I’m so glad me and my brother made this show. Best day of my life honestly.
James' voice became aggressive again. Great! But I was looking at young kids moshing all around another one surfing above the people. In the mid 80s to 90s you could find doing one or the other. Now... Well: Sat with the old fans. 45 (almost 46) is a little hard to come by on that, lol.. Wished I was a young kid again, hehehe... But it is a privilige to be from the first Metallica fans. Never had kids, but I would be proud of seeing a son 'o mine doing that shit hahahahaha! A grandson maybe.. like James said; "Now we are a big family!!!!!' I enjoy seeing you young fans doing what I did. Keep this shit going, til death. While governments insults one to each other, there's nothing better than enjoying life til death. Have fun, new generation! Mosh and "BANG THAT HEAD WHO DOESN'T HEADBANG!!!!' For old fans like me: Enjoy seeing the youth (more if it's your kid). FUCK YEA
TIL SELF-DESTRUCT!!!! Still Hardwired here. Best, Gilberto Rivera.
no, the crowds just so fuckin busy with their phones smh
Corozal I'm 45..... First Metallica I bought- Master of Puppets... Got it in 1991... addicted since....
If tickets were cheaper and I had a car you know I'd me moshing and all that shit.
Me mala todo el jevi y dé mas
20:28 an incredible For Whom The Bell Tolls. Cliff would be proud. RIP Cliff! Metallica all day every day!
Seek and Destroy never gets old no matter how many times I watch them play it...or any of their old songs for that matter.
It's a very special feeling when you're at a Metallica concert, the lights dim down and The Ecstasy of Gold starts playing. I've seen Metallica live countless times and that never gets old, chills up my spine every single time.
Lol, James fist-bumped me during Moth into the flame. I cried.
Wow that’s amazing
29:47 just see that guy they threw xD
I wanna get thrown!!! coincidentally my favorite passtime at that one family reunion...
That look on his face tho!!!
This is America
27:40 for an ambitious body slam aswell
30:24 lol
Seen these dudes back in Philadelphia justice for all tour way back then, still listening to them today! Rock on brothers and RIP Cliff
Blackened is such an absurdly awesome song

What a great show from the best metal band in the world!😍😍😍😍
Metallica are like wine...Gets better as time goes by
I really wish they’d play “Here Comes Revenge”. That song is SOOO underrated
They did it
One of the greatest band in history.. rock on
I watched it live streamed last night....Awesome show..Metallica fuckin rules! they Never disappoint! great show as always guys! Thank you
The amount of amazing live Metallica footage available on UA-cam now is mind blowing. So good!
my god these guys are awesome,so much passion so much energy and power.....and in mid 50's ....i wish i have half of this passion when i am that age for the things i do....they show no sign of fatigue...awesome rock band
THE greatest band of all time. Now and Forever!
I must be getting old because I'm over here thinking "parking must have been a nightmare" lol
Hahaha it was, and an Uber was $120 to start! It took my kids and I until 3am to get back to our hotel room. This show was completely worth it!
Me and my dad went to metallica half a dozen times... this was the final time we went together before he passed away... it was the best night I could've asked for. Thank you for uploading this... I will always cherish this night.
What a gig.
I am always happy when musicians think of their deceased band mates.
Just as Cliff was thinking here ... Goosebumps feeling.
Hail from AustriA
1:16:00 R.I.P. Cliff Burton
What a crowd man!!!
I just saw in VEGAS.. First time since I was a kid in detroit
thx for sharing
Wonderful show and wonderful sound!
EXCELLENT
Metallica Best of the world
David Hampel yes sir metallica power
That old Fender Jazz bass does the beginning of FWTBT justice, good job Robert!
Edmonton always brings it!
don't know how to play guitar but a I'm a very big fan of Metalica!
love to watch their concerts, even just on youtube,, Hope to see Kirk Hammett in person!
Me too!!
Damn they sounded good at this show. Better than I've heard in a while. James's voice was good, Kurt nailed his solos and even Lars was in time... Most of the time. Until Seek and Destroy. Seems like that kit they brought out, he was having trouble with the bass pedals.
"Unforgiven"...just me or does James sound nasally when he sings this one in concert? I realize he's much older but seems like as he's gotten older his voice has lost some of its distinct gravelly quality. He still sounds great though!
I thought i was the only one hearing that off bass pedal
Yeah Kurt cobain is good but what about Kirk?
Was it autocorrect
Yeah Seek and Destroy was unusually bad for Lars on the kick pedal, maybe he blew all his foot energy during "One" which was a decent effort from Lars. Did they switch drum kits during the show? I didn't notice.
No Lars was not in time most of the time haha, he keeps waving like crazy all show long. This is laughable.
This just makes me want to see them again lol. It blows my mind how good both these guys and Judas Priest sound even after ALL THESE YEARS THEY SOUND INCREDIBLE.
So great performance !!
2:32:24 what a great tribute and video montage to Edmonton.
Это охуенно!
I was there, it was epic.
Absolutely awesome!
Awesome gig
I wish I was there, looks soooo fun
Finally they added some triggers on that drumkit... i´m glad i can hear the Kick and snare again...
Absolutely phenomenal!
thank you....for sharing
God....I just cannot ever get enuf Metallica.......I could watch this forever...actually, that sounds like a good idea.....=D
Saw them in Vancouver. Drove from Williams Lake, Made it through the Forest Fire.. They Rule.
That heavy greetings never gets old, love it
I think this is the Best quality on Metallica live videos in at least two years, there should be More camera Men Filming these shows!
Best version of "One" I've heard in ages. No out of tune parts, drums were solid, just great!. 1:31:01
If you say that, you show unknowledge about music, it sounds so bad compared with other lives of Metallica, Kirk seems drunk all the concert xD
I`m drummer and drums here aren´t solid, just the opposite, it sounds like lack of practice. Listen the "through the never film" version, that musically one of the best of the last two decades in my opinion.
P.D Sorry for my pronunciation, I`m spanish if you notice any fault :D
Great concert. I'd pick Blackened as the song of the night; love how it comes through crisp and loud after the intro. And love how Kirk Hammett is calm and in control throughout the show, but it seems like the I Disappear jam in the middle is the only time he really gets to have fun. Hehe. And after his bass solo (take one!), Trujillo suddenly gets a backing band!
cant wait to see them on Saturday!!!
Great! My birthday is in 1970. I grow with the SORPIONS, but with METALLICA I were a man. These my mamories! 🎸👍
