    Just some thoughts on defense after 2600 hours: "Defending", is not just sitting in the hardpoint. The problem is that newer players and even experienced ones will give up the sector control around the defensive point (4 sectors around the point) which by default allows the enemy to gain cap weight without even entering the hardpoint, they will only build one garrison on the hardpoint, so anyone who spawns there to "defend" (usually as a reaction to losing the point, not a proactive presence which is a whole different story) will by default be trapped in the defensive circle whilst trying to defend, when in actuality that is more like buying time than it is actually defending. The key thing people miss is that you have to completely secure every sector around the hardpoint (with garrisons and OPs evenly spread out to make your stake of map control, provide evenly distributed ping radar etc), because once you give that up you are simply defending trapped inside of a circle. Commonly, once it has reached this point, you have all of the defenders trapped inside a circle (any situation where the enemy troops only have to point their gun in one direction = bad), and instead of finding ways to get behind the attackers, or spawn behind the attacks, every single defender just continues to spawn inside the circle, with no attempts made at getting behind the actual attack. Flanking is not just for full attack mode. An active component of a robust defense is attacking itself; ie, attacking the attackers from behind. So as compelling as it may seem, and as much as defending as it might seem, sitting trapped in the hardpoint while you're being attacked is not actually defending.... it's buying time. Also, when you force a static-frontal defense with no attempt at flanking attackers, you are simply using all the resources you have to kill enemy troops, when in actuality much of what you should be doing is determining WHERE the enemy troops are coming from, and actively trying to locate the spawn, which involves getting off the hardpoint, getting behind them, to ultimately stop the attack. Killing all the attackers won't stop the attack, but destroying the spawns will. You need a dedicated squad inside the hardpoint, and the remaining defense squads set up to control, dominate and clean out the sectors surrounding the hard point, with constant pressure on the attacks from flanking angles.

      Couldn’t say it better myself. Best thing to do is be SL and get your squad to start patrolling your sectors out of the hard point.

    If you are not a good shooter (that is me) SL on defense is great - its all about map awareness, building garrisons, placing the OP, working and directing the squad, keeping the commander informed, placing markers, organizing defense building, The game becomes very strategic and as a strategy gamer HLL offers this experience. And it is fun.

      All the best combat action comes from defending your cappoints, going on patrol, chasing down enemy airheads, supplies and halftracks. I've experienced some of the very best close-quarters combat when staying on defence.

    I’ve been squad lead now since lvl 20, am lvl 102 now. It’s fun as hell when you have a squad cooperating and communicating. I love the command chat and the tactics. I love when I have a mix of experienced and new players with mics, I played today with two new guys lvl

    I agree with your point gpudagamer but what you haven’t mentioned is that your SL might ask you to do different things (eg attack). So the immediate thing that came to my mind when watching your video is that now people will listen even less to what the SL is asking them to do, thus leading to less effective team play. When asked they will point to your video maybe. I think you have a good point and I absolutely love @tilda1140 answer/comment as to explain in more detail why it’s a great strategy and needed to win the game.

    • @GoudaGamer
      @GoudaGamer  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah you're right. Listening to your SL is the most important. But there is a big lack of communicating SLs atm so I recommend SLing yourself and focusing on defense. Still people should always listen to their SL if there is one!

    It is really hard to beat a game where you defend with 3-6 communicating players in a squad, fun wise. Such a good feeling when you are managing to hold them back with such a small portion of the team, knowing you are making a difference. In the end you can get overrun, lose the game, but still be happy about the game you just had with your (possibly random) mates!

    Defending is what mature Hell Let Loose players do. Defending is what wins matches and it's the difference between playing A tactical FPS like it's a "Fortnight" match.
    Nothing wrong with Fortnight BTW, but if you want to play Fortnight then PLAY F***KING FORTNIGHT!

    Defense on any shooter is the easiest part for any new player to learn the game. HLL is very very similar to ANY Battlefield game in their series, so this is nothing new. Coms/Mic (in game chat) on any shooter/team game is very valuable, but hardly every used properly, especially on PC.

    Defending is the best attack, little do people know.
    Germany out of all factions has the best defending equipment, while Soviet has the best attack. US is middle ground.
