You know you weren't wrong, technically speaking on front wheel drive cars the transmission is in fact under the engine bay. They are mounted sideways so the Trans would be on the side of the engine.
Fun fact you can plug in a usb keyboard to the Wii and for some typing things like the mii channel you can use the keyboard. I don’t know if it works with this game though.
