When I was growing up my dad made me get all the DANDELIONS in our 1/4 acre yard. I used an old butter knife and went out and had to dig down to get the roots out. I was a teenager and I felt embarrassed to have to do that. No one in the neighborhood had to do this. I watched the show about the Standing Weed Tool. Wow, I sure wish I had a Tool like that to get the DANDELIONS back in the Day!!! I'm 69 yrs old now but I remember as if it were Yesterday!! I thought the story would give you guys a little chuckle!! Love You Guys!! I'm from Seattle and even though you aren't close to Seattle, I feel connected to you. It's the PNW !!! I'M SOOO HOMESICK!!

@@lindasimmons4897 I'm having Deja vu. Maybe I already read your comment in the past, but I feel like you mentioning the show about the standing weed tool brings back some kind of memory or dream of the future, which is what I believe Deja vu really is. Haha! I think I have a standing weed tool in my future.

Was watching this just now and heard a strange noise in the audio background.... then it got louder; so I paused... and Lo and Behold... after 70 days of drought/no rain....IT WAS RAINING!!!! We are up in British Columbia,... in the Fraser Valley.... the Berry Capital of Canada... the farmers lost a huge amount of Raspberries due to the never ending heat... and now the Wildfires burning in our Province.... so the sound of rain is ever so lovely... we just opened all our windows... such cool and fresh weather! Hopefully the rain moves towards our "Interior" area, mid province, where it is so badly needed.... Love your video today! So green and lush... what a wonderful Harvest after all your hard work!

Thank you so much for your videos. It has been the best reprieve from our crazy world of the virus, wild fires, and earthquakes,. I am enjoying our new Limelight Hydrangeas, some Quickfire, and “We Bit Giddy” that I have planted, which I wouldn’t have known about except for your tutorials. I’ve also put in water timers, a new lawn area, built a rock garden, and a pink azalea hedge.
I’m in The Fraser Valley of British Columbia and it hasn’t rained for about a month. We’ve had three “heat domes” this summer, which is unheard of until now. I’ve set up the water timers so that they go off for an hour each morning and we have a beautiful garden now. I have lived in Vancouver all my life, and I can remember a July where it has been overcast and rained every single day. This year, my Heather and sweet peas didn’t survive due to the extensive heat waves despite my best efforts.
Thank you so much Laura for your love of the outdoors. All I have to do is water the lawn , do some weeding, or pruning and it makes my day, so to a fellow gardener thank you for sharing!!!

Try BioAdvance 3 in 1 Systemic for Roses. It's a liquid you mix with water and pour at the base of each rose bush so you are not harming the bees. It's not organic but it does kill off the Japanese Beetles so they don't eat the roses to death. You can apply 3 times in one season 6 weeks apart to the base of the roses. Cut the open blooms when they are fading because the Japanese Beetles love to sleep in the open flower heads. Isn't THAT nice? Eat, sleep and destroy what I want to see and enjoy. Darn pesky bugs.
In 2020 I had hundreds of Japanese Beetles on each of my 24 shrub rose bushes. I had to apply all 3 times. This year I only had to apply 2. You also have to apply GrubX in the spring to your lawn to kill off the white grubs which eat your grass roots and then turn into Japanese Beetles to mate and start the cycle once again. I'd like to do organic but with the # of Japanese Beetles I had I need a product that will protect the roses until I can cut down the #s of white grubs in the lawn and break the life cycle of the pest without harming the bees.

Cleaning up, pruning and tidying a garden is so very satisfying and my little garden appreciates a bit of room to breath - especially during these hot summer months. I love this space so much. I have a small yard and every flower I’ve planted I’ve learned from you. I’m late to the game (58 and on my 5th season) and I enjoy this so much. People slow down to look at the beauty in the yard and it fills me with joy! I need to figure out a way to tuck some beds in for produce! Thank you for your inspiration! I appreciate you both so much!

“My years kinda go together in this space. Do you get that way?” This made me laugh a lot! Yes, it happens to me a LOT! Makes me feel a little relieved actually, that this happens to someone your age. I was thinking I was going crazy or senile and feeling old.
Great video, and sooo satisfying! This area is JUST AMAZING! 💚💚💚

Those roses are so beautiful, I absolutely love the vegetable garden area so pretty, formal and wild! Laura I know you told us but I can not remember, where did you get the kangaroo bag with the hard bottom at? Harvesting is the most satisfying job in the garden!
    Hugs to you all🤗💜🤗

Love those arbors! I have a rose in a garden bed that's been there for YEARS as a shrub. This year we had so much rain, July alone we got 12"+, that my shrub rose is really a climber! I guess the right amount of water is REALLY important.

Are the Arb’s having issues in that area? Looked like a couple had dead or burned branches behind you. That’d be a huge bummer to get so tall then run into problems.
